Take a look at our favorite Prospect Mexican restaurants.
“We were out early afternoon watching March Madness, and this was the place to go. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, even so engaged as to find out we were in from Columbus, OH, with family. Wouldn't you know it? One of the guys there, the manager, I believe, has family in Columbus. Small world, but it's a great place. You won't be disappointed. I'll definitely be going back!“
“Really great Mexican restaurant, the food and staff are top notch. We eat here about once a week as a family, we have always had a great experience. The yolandas are especially good as well as the carne asada tacos and big giant burritos (kiddo’s favorite). The prices are 2022 reasonable, and you really get a lot for your money. You wont leave with buyers remorse by any means. The local choices within driving range are plentiful for restaurants, Los Aztecas is always one of our favorites.“
“Had a big family event here. They took care of us!Also, their waiter Juan did an excellent job managing our large group and getting us our food and beverages despite the hectic party we brought with us.Gustavo's is lucky to have him!He also made fresh lemon/limeade for my wife and I which was a great hangover cure ? "The Juan hangover special".“
“Mexican food is our family's favorite and Mi Terra in Prospect has become our go to. We normally get carry out and have yet to have an issue with missing or wrong items. Service is not lacking even when taking the food to go. We order chicken fajitas for two and the portions will not disappoint.“
“if you want great service and great food. THIS is the place to go. The atmosphere here is amazing!! we ordered the sopes and definitely recommend them. As our entree we order the mixed fajitas and they were AMAZING!! One thing we love about gustavo's is they don't charge extra for mixed!! We also ordered the churro cart and let me tell you. this is the best dessert i've ever had at any restaurant!! 10/10 for everything and definitely recommend the prospect gustavo's!!!“
“Wow, what a great place! My wife and I visited Louisville, and on the recommendation of a local, popped into Mayan Cafe and were completely impressed! The hostess and waitress were extremely nice and even though we came toward the end of the night were very welcoming and never hurried us along. The margarita with mezcal I ordered was perfect, and the dark, romantic room was fun and had a good, buzzy energy. We ordered the sikil pak and both agreed it was the best we've had - great depth of flavor and silky texture, it is a must-try! The scallop ceviche was also great - the scallops were marinated to the perfect texture, the flavors were fresh and bright, and the serving size was generous. My wife ordered the tuna tacos and loved them, raved about them. I ordered the duck with black mole and it was really great - succulent dark duck, confited and served shredded, tasted almost like deeply roasted, juicy pot roast - awesome flavor, but the mole was the star - great compliment to the duck. We split the cochinita pibil and both loved it - the achiote sauce was beautiful to look at and tasted earthy and complex, and the fried plaintains it was served with were nicely tourneed - a cool little touch that added to the fancy vibes of the meal. Even though it is certainly gourmet-level and very interesting food and a great way to experience a different kind of "Mexican" cuisine, and the dishes are crafted with love and look great on the plate, the prices were very fair and not too expensive. We loved Louisville, plan to visit more often, and will definitely be back to Mayan Cafe (to hopefully try the rabbit next time!). Highly recommended.“
“I was here this evening for dinner with friends. We had a great meal, great drinks, and our server was friendly and attentive. The only problem was the dessert which I ordered; sopapillas. These are traditional New Mexican soft, fried, puffed dough pockets, drizzled with honey or covered in cinnamon and sugar. Think small soft donuts. Well, what I got was a hard, flat, fried tortilla, cut into quarters, and covered in cinnamon and sugar. That is NOT any kind of a sopapilla I have ever had at any Mexican restaurant before. It was awful. When I told the server my thoughts on what was served, she argued with me that this was indeed sopapillas. Right. My advise; do not order this usually delightful dessert at Tres Amigos, because you'll get something other than true sopapillas!“
“First time experience. Food was tasty but felt a bit pricey. Service was very slow. Soda was not correct syrup consistency but when asked the charge was removed. Not sure why there was a merchant fee. ?? They ran out of silverware.Vegetarian options: One of us had a taco that had a black bean burger in it. Excellent taste.“
“Wow wow wow .. that's all I have to say.. I haven't found a a restaurant that has ambience, food and service all bundled up together to make the experience AMAZING, And that says a lot because I am a big foodie. Would def go back if I was ever in Louisville“
“Been here 4 times and they're great every time. Huevos Rancheros are a go to. My favorite dish is the Chipotle Poached Huevos! The Cuban Coffee is a perfect blend of espresso and raw cane sugar. Service is fantastic. Dining area is vibrant for a bright morning vibe. Spacious with comfy booths or tables. Highly recommend this establishment for your next outing!“
“First off the gentleman at the front counter Sergio was so welcoming and went over and beyond to explain the fan favorites. It was our first time here, we are extremely impressed with the customer service which doesn't exist anymore Sergio is the real MVP and the outstanding quality of the food I can't express enough how amazing this experience was, definitely a must try!HIGHLY RECOMMEND!“
“My wife and I believe that it may be one of the best kept secrets in Louisville. A person almost wouldn't notice it, as they drive down Frankfort Ave. But, this little gem of a food truck serves some of the finest Mexican cuisine you have ever tasted.“
“Absolutely the best mexican restaurant!! Prices and service is amazing!! Friendly, and attentive. If you want a restaurant that makes you feel like family, this is the place to go. Their steak fajitas are awesome!! Chili on the appetizer menu is phenomenal. Corn elotes, mmmm!!“
“This was our favorite food truck and now it's our favorite restaurant! The atmosphere is so authentic and sweet. The girl at the counter is so friendly and welcoming to everyone and our order is always correct and absolutely delicious.“
“This is the best authentic Hispanic food. I have never had bad service or bad food. The birria tacos are the best along with the salsa and chips. I have had different things off their menu and have enjoyed all of it. The restaurant is a cute little place to eat with incredible decor. Love this place and it is well worth the money spend here.“
“Enjoyed breakfast at Foko’s new location. Staff were friendly and helpful. Tried the Wake Up Burrito, Dirty Horchata, and tres leches pancakes! All were delicious! A friend who was with me already made plans to return and bring her family! Love this place!“
“Food was very good let's start there but the bugs was on the hunt like really bad made it hard to enjoy the food when I say bugs I mean (nets) they was flying all over our food the staff also knew it they came out with in electrical bug zapper in was killing them while we was eating crazy crazy experience !!!“
“Excellent food and service! I'm from out of town, and recommend this place to anyone passing through Louisville.Kid-friendliness: We had our 10 month old here and had plenty of options for him to eat. We chose rice and chicken, which was cut perfectly for him to eat in bites.“
“Sooo good. This was our first visit and rarely do I eat out and immediately want to leave a review. I had the vegetarian fajitas nachos and it was perfect. I usually want sour cream but this was perfect without it. The veggies, beans and cheese were evenly distributed, fresh snd flavorful. My husband ordered the stuffed poblano peppers with chicken, rice and refried black beans. He was impressed as well and the black beans may be the best refried beans I've ever had. We will definitely be back. Give this place a try- it is fantastic!“
“Stayed at the Moxy and decided to try the tacos here. I actually ordered the chicken nachos. They were very good. I ordered a side of the cilantro lime rice and shockingly it has no flavor to it at all. However the nachos were very flavorful. Staff was super friendly and the food came out fast! It was a great experience and will eat again when I return to town.“
“My wife and I came to Down one a few weeks ago. we sat at the bar on a pretty slow night. The bartender Dustin was very conversational, friendly and very knowledgeable. we had some great whiskey and a few laughs, definitely will come back great place!“
“Ordered Bandido Burrito and Carne Asada Burrito and it brought me back home to L.A this is real burritos and i would recommend to my friends and family it taste exactly like the burritos i make at home. I will be coming here more often on days i dont feel like cooking.“
“Currito has become my new favorite. Staff is friendly and helpful. Food is so yummy and I love that I can eat clean, fresh food within my budget. I appreciate the menu choices and love the option of being able to customize and build my grain or salad bowl or choose from their already suggested menu items.“
“Definitely stop in to Cosmic Bird if you're anywhere near Louisville. They're entirely plant based and their chicken sandwiches are the best I've ever had. They have unique sandwich builds and each one I've had is delicious. Stop by and support this small business!“
“Free chips, salsa and queso in the bar mon thru fri from 4 pm to 7 pm. Buy a beverage and chow down. Adults only in bar though. Chips & tortillas are the best and fresh. Creamy jalapeño sauce, which you may have to ask for and its complimentary, is addicting. Real fountain coke here. Tortilla soup has chunks of tough breast meat. Couldn't chew the tough meat. Appetizer plate under appetizers is a good variety and feeds two. I didn't like the Green chilis on the quesadillas or the red sauce over the flautas. So they don't put it on at my request. The Green chili rice is much better than the standard Mexican rice. Beware of the sauces you are not familiar with as they pour them over your entree as stated on the menu. Hit and miss with their sauces for my taste. Pleasant atmosphere & good friendly service.update: appetizer for like $11.99 feeds two people. consistent service. nice atmosphere. a pleasant place to dine. Saturday evening was jammed packed in wait area/hostess area. patrons with families were waiting for regular tables. Adults can slip by and dine in the bar. sports on the televisions inside the bar area.update: things have changed since my visit before COVID. Went on a busy evening. Have to wait for seating regardless where you want to sit. That includes the bar area. Opted for Tex Mex Enchiladas, which were excellent. Server was pleasant and on-spot in casual clean atmosphere.“
“After a very bad first experience at this Gustavos I gave it another try (I was thevine in our group who was against it). I'm glad I did. What a completely different experience. Food was great! Service was exceptional! I'm hoping to go back again“
“My wife and I eat there often…. super attentive staff… Family oriented business that has a very large menu with great options The chicken steak shrimp fajitas ARE the real deal. Great food and great service. Buy one get one free margaritas tonight in six different flavors… Very reasonably priced menu.…. Their chips and salsa are super fresh…“
“My wife told me about Noche and we have been trying to make time to go there for months. The wait was well worth it! We had patio seating. The weather was ideal and the seating was comfortable. The brisket was delicious and the plantains were out-of-this-world good. Our server, Jeremy was OUTSTANDING. He made sure we were taken care of, and was very pleasant. Noche will definitely get a return trip from us!“
“Fajitas were very good. Fresh, chicken grilled, good flavor, lots of grilled onions, peppers, came with rice, beans, guacamole, Pico de Gallo, sour cream, lettuce, corn tortillas, Delicious. Our food was ready within 10 minutes, very fast srrvice!!! $15“
“Abuela and pop in the kitchen turning out the real deal Mexican dishes. El pastor is worth driving across the bridge for. Nothing fancy here but the owner is charming, other servers are super friendly. It’s worth driving past 10 El Nopals to eat at LaPasadita.“
“My family and I like the food here. They give good size portions. We've eaten in the restaurant several times and ordered takeout several times Like most places, eating in is a better experience but when you do order takeout they do a good job separating the hot and cold items.“
“Great atmosphere, food, margaritas and service. Reasonable prices too. It was very clean and organized too.I was shocked it wasn’t more busy.People of Louisville, you’re missing out if you don’t come here.I walked from my hotel and it was difficult to see in the dark because the building is set back off of 4th st and the windows are tinted dark.“
“Authentic food, recommend the Quesabirria. They have a margarita tower as well, definitely worth it. There was music for a couple of minutes, but they stopped playing music for the rest of the time. The service was fast, you'll have your food within minutes.“
“The food was delicious. Reasonably priced. Several vegetarian and vegan options. The staff was friendly and efficient.Vegetarian options: The house salad is great with a tasty lime vinaigrette. The veggie tacos are fantastic.Parking: Parking lot behind buildingWheelchair accessibility: Flat surface to enter building“
“Was too early for check-in so stopped by here for a bite. The reviews seemed like the tacos were pricy (they are) but worth it (they're good if you have extra money which I know not everyone does). The tacos are slightly bigger, well-filled, but also cost $5-7 so you're looking at $11-15 for 2 tacos for more of a light lunch size. Quality-wise, the tacos were reallly good. I'd advise not to get the chicken fajita because it's good but not worth the premium you're paying. I also got the Vagabond which is marinated grilled steak, bacon, chimichurri and pico de gallo - the first half of this was super good. Great steak flavor complimented with Latino flavors. Though the second half was a lot saltier for some reason - but still good. Overall, the tacos here are good but pricy. There's a lot of variety also to choose from which is a plus when you're in a group (so there's something for everyone).“
“My 3rd time, 2nd time at New location. Very good, fresh, fast. The wallpaper in the ladies room is one of the best things I've seen in my life!Vegetarian options: You choose exactly what you want!Parking: Plenty of downtown parking.Kid-friendliness: Kiddos welcome.“
“Great little establishment. The people are always friendly. I'd eat here every day if I could. They are only 4 minutes drive from us. They are usually pretty busy and even then, they push food out in roughly 10-15 minutes. It's worth the wait!“
“I took my 3 employees on Thursday March 7th 2024 andAll of us were very satisfied with the food and service. I finally found somewhere that has chicken tamales and they were excellent. Also, my favorite place now for salsa sauce. Great place and has a lunch special menu too.“
“Food I Rank 3 ⭐️ due to the lack of taste of true Mexico food ? for the food taste like any other American version of Mexican food.Serves I Rank 5 ⭐️ for the servers go above and beyond to accommodate the guest which makes the environment fill comfortably relaxedAtmosphere I rank 5 ⭐️ for the music, environment, is sorta like a Mexican environment. Therefore I give a 4 ⭐️ for effort and not a 5 star due to the food just didn’t remind me of true authentic Mexican food.“
“The food was Delicious!! We were hungry we did not take any photos but, that is OK because my family and I agreed we will eat there again. Prices are reasonable. The staff members were friendly, the service was good and the food was, OH MY, fantastic. The menu has a variety of dishes. If you are looking for something authentic, this is the place for it.I got Quesabirrias, my daughter got the Enchilada Seafood, my son got the Burrito Loco and my husband got the Qusadilla Chicken Fajita. We glanced at other people plates, everything looked and smelled D E L I C I O U S ???“
“Go here. You have to go here. The food is delicious and fresh. It's always top-notch. He's concerned with making sure the customer is satisfied, so when he questioned whether the bread was right, he went to a bakery and had them make bread specifically for his sandwiches. I drive from Fern Creek to get here. It is worth the drive. The tacos are delicious. The wet burritos are awesome. There is nothing that I have had at this food truck that has ever disappointed me. I love it and I adore him. The wet burritos are awesome. There is nothing that I have had at this food truck that has ever disappointed me. I love it and I adore him.“
“Stopped in here after a flight back from Chicago. The food was great. Staff was on top of keeping our drinks full. Menu had plenty to choose from and had pictures. The pictures are always a plus when choosing cultural dining. Overall we had a great time the prices were fair for the great food and service we received.“
“It was great! Fast and exactly what I'd expect of a diner. I thought the Cheese coney dog was a great dealseeing it on the menu. When it arrived it was very small compared to my expectations... however, then I realized that it fairly matched the price. Next time, I will know to order two.“
“Wonderful place to enjoy a Mexican dinner. I ordered chicken fajitas and they were awesome. Chips were good and fresh and salsa had some kick in it but mostly just good flavor. Servers are also very friendly and excellent. I am from out of state but will be enjoying this place at least a couple more times before I leave!“
“I enjoyed my lunch. Best squeezed OJ I’ve had in a while. On the pricey side for a burrito and OJ ($22). I got the drunk burrito chicken which was a good size. Staff were very friendly and plenty of places to sit. Everything seemed fresh, but did come out in 5 minutes. I’ll go again.“
“Food average, meaning nothing bad at all but what you would expect from a local Mexican restaurant. It's nice to get what you have come to expect. Food was inexpensive, good & abundant. Good place to gather with friends. Comfortable place to hang out in. Service speed is outstanding! Not sure how they do it! Slightly difficult to get extra items after food has arrived so it pays to order everything at once!“
“As always, the food was fresh, hot, and fast!! I had the white fish with shrimp and scallops and grilled vegetables. The scallops could have been cooked a little longer, but everything was scrumptious!! We got our meals within 10 minutes! The cost for four people was only $70 but we don't drink alcohol so that was just for the “
“Good food with good prices. The shrimp fajitas were good and didn’t taste fishy. They were generous with the protein portions. A person in my group got a shrimp cocktail and enjoyed it. They complied with her request to not have cilantro in her dish.“
“Wow. Now THIS is some good food. There are plenty of places that do "street tacos", but La Catrina gets it right. Very delicious. And the wait staff was super friendly as well. If you're walking the big four bridge, stop by and give them a shot.“
“This restaurant has a nice clean atmosphere and decor, the food is particularly great but overall I enjoyed the customer service and the staff the most. If I lived in the local area, this would be my go-to restaurant for Mexican food, hands down.“
