“Friends told me about this place so I stopped by for lunch. Background: The name comes from the fact this area was once the location of pig farms. The owners have a second place in Mid City that another guest at Hog's Alley told me has great food, too. The menu is sort of small but very diverse. I had the fried shrimp basket and I'm a bit of a snob on fried shrimp. These were delicious. Excellent batter, tasty, and no iodine flavor at all. The jalapeno hush puppies were equally excellent. Fries were good but I can do without fries. Jaimie the bartender/server was friendly and very helpful. Not many people at 1 on Sunday but that didn't bother me. I'll go back.“

“The waiter/person who took my order was great, and when i asked for a vegan burger, he made sure to ask how i wanted the burger, if i wanted vegan cheese or not, if i wanted the order to be completely vegan or vegetarian... the burger was so delicious, i had to check if it was actually vegan. the fries were hot and fresh (so was the burger) and not greasy at all. i will definitely visit again. Only note is that when you enter, the Slap burger kitchen is to the right, and there is a tabletop counter with some stools, and a window to order, a pick-up window that gives a view of the cooks cooking while you wait. “The best neighborhood bar I’ve ever been to, it’s a great community, everyone is very welcoming. A lot of neighborhood spots you walk in and it’s like the record skips and everyone turns around. Not Pete’s! Speaking of records they have a vintage jukebox with great broad selection. It’s old school, nobody paying extra to skip ahead of you, no one playing the same Drake song on repeat. Drinks are very affordable with a modest but well rounded selection. They have pop ups most days it seems so if your hungry there’s usually a food option. “Have been a Chart Room patron for many years. It's pretty much a plain ol' bar with great juke box and veteran bartenders serving typically strong and inexpensive drinks. About half locals, half out-of-town visitors, most of the out-of-towners being frequent NOLA visitors. At one time I suspected that a few of the regular characters were sent over by Central Casting, but have been going there long enough to now know they're genuine. A recent ownership change, but based on my last visit, no discernible (to me) change.“
“Love Snake's!! Juan (the bartender) is amazing and attentive. I always have a good time and enjoy my Paradise Parks best when they come from Snake's. Fantastic live music on Friday nights from 8-10.Dog friendly (make sure to say hi to Arlo and Peeves!), and they have a great patio for when it gets busy indoors. You have patient because there's usually only one bartender at a time, even when it's busy, and they're handling tons of orders per customer. Even still, the bartenders rock!I've never had an issue here and always feel extremely safe, even when I come alone. Absolutely a must-visit!“

“A very nice escape from the Bourbon St madness. This place somehow manages to be a dive bar, and trendy at the same time. It's a friendly, intimate environment, with comfortable lounge furniture tucked away in a few corners, and a beautiful courtyard out back. I know a few other reviews mention the bathrooms, and they are certainly quirky; however, for me it was in more of a made you smile type way. They were extremely dark, only lighted by a pink neon sign. There is no mirror, so don't go in expected to tidy up your appearance. I have to assume these were conscious decisions made by whoever designed/decorated the place. What better way to say we don't care what you look like, and neither should you than to give customers no mirror or light to check their appearance in. There isn't much signage out front, so it'd be easy to miss when the doors are close. They just have a small hanging sign that says something along the lines of "last stop before the tourist traps" which I found to be both clever and true. I wouldn't say the drinks are cheap, but the quality is excellent and they are relatively affordable for what you'd be asked to pay at most any other bar near Bourbon. The bartender was extremely nice, and the drinks were finished quickly. I didn't get to spend nearly as much time here as I would have liked because we had a busy afternoon ahead, but High Grace will certainly top the lists of bars I stop off in next time I'm near the French Quarter.“
“This is not fancy, this is an epically perfect dive bar. We headed here in NOLA to watch MSU game for the tournament. There were plenty of TVs, comfortable seating, and we sat right at the bar. Bartender was attentive, knowledgeable, and hilarious. Also the drinks are NOT weak! The food was totally perfect, definitely recommend the pizza and the potato skins. We did a lot while in New Orleans but this was one of our fav experiences.“

“If you're into a dive bar vibe, this is the place for you. It actually has a coin operated laundromat in the bar and the bartender will give you a cup of soap. My GF and I did a load of wash and enjoyed some shots and cocktails while we waited. We went there three times in our ten day visit to NOLA simply just to chill and have some cheap drinks.“

“It's the people that make this place so special. It's not a tourist destination but a local neighborhood place where you can stop by. I suspect every person that walks through the doors becomes a regular that turns into a friend. You can play games (shuffleboard), sing, drink, and chill. The outdoor area has plenty of tables and chairs but you'll most likely be mingling and moving around regardless of where you choose. Enjoy!“

“First Aunt Tiki’s experience was about 15 years ago. This year my wife let me bring the kids. My 23 year old and I went to see my Cowboys get beat on Christmas Eve. Love this bar. New and fantastic every time I sneak in. Unfortunately after I left, in the rain, slip sliding over to Bourbon St. I eventually slipped my best slip and fractured my fibula, skinned my knees and scabbed up my forehead. “Recently stopped by because a friend moved into the neighborhood. This is a really odd but interesting neighborhood bar. It's almost invisible during daylight hours because it's built on the side of what is obviously a house and the only signage seems to be neon signs in the windows which are covered with bars and not really visible during daylight hours. However at night the neon signs in the small windows really show up and they also have multicolored twinkle lights All along the outside walls of the building, on the bar part.Bartender Mary was very friendly. Drinks were very reasonably priced and will poured.Atmosphere... not the most up-to-date bar in town, but that's part of its charm. Definitely a place locals can go to in whatever attire they have on. Wouldn't be surprised if people felt comfortable going there in the pajamas, it's just that kind of place.This is a bar only, no food is served here. I was advised that they only took cash which is something you need to know. Don't plan on stopping here and running a tab on a card.“
