“Stellar gastronomic experience with ambeance and professional service marshalled by GM / Maître d' Errol. The establishment has resisted current 'tends' to amplify noise to convey 'hip-chatter', thank you. Scott Westphal“
“Excellent french cuisine. The "filet de boeuf" and "boeuf bourguignon" were excellent and you can believe me (I am French and know very well what french cuisine means)! Service was excellent (very professionnal and very friendly). I recommend this restaurant to everyone“
“I went with my sister who is a regular here and my mom when I was visiting in Boston. The food was honestly really delicious, so quick too when they were very busy. It was overall a great experience!! The service was top notch and they have very great music which sets the mood for a perfect brunch. Highly recommend it 10/10“
“When visiting a French restaurant expectations are high. The food tends to be exquisite and some dishes are here. The Foie Gras is amazing and so are all the deserts we tried. However the escargot which is something I always try at French restaurants was only ok.The service varies on who your server is as we had friends who came to the restaurant after we sat and we ordered before they even got their menus and yet they had their appetizers first. When looking for someone to call for a refill and even when we wanted the menus for desert, it is very difficult to catch anyone looking at your table as if each waiter will only look at their own table only. On the bright side they brought us water as soon as we sat and refilled it often. That is how I would get someone's attention...finish my water so someone could come by and I could ask for something. The place is very small and you will have to be a party of two and be lucky to get a table without a reservation, which is what happened with our friends..who came in a little after we sat and were hoping they could sit with us, but with such little space it seemed unlikely they would even be able to get a table but as they were asking a table for two was leaving. Its rather on the expensive side which can be understood with the quality of some of the dishes, however I would except everything to be great for these prices. Its a good place with potential to be great.“
“It's been awhile since we'd eaten at Elephant Walk and my wife & I realized how much we missed it!The menu is unique, combining French & Cambodian dishes in a very tasty way. We always order the Rouleaux (a variation on a spring roll that you roll yourself) for a starter. Other favorites include Amok Royale & Curry of Shrimp Crevettes. The wine list has a great selection, though it leans a bit pricey. I wouldn't skip dessert; we had a flourless chocolate cake. Service was friendly & pitch-perfect. On-street parking is very easy and it's not a far walk from Back Bay Orange Line station or the Silver Line bus. We won't wait so long to return!“
“Friends and I met up for brunch. I do recommend the Filet-o-Fish which comes with a side of fries. It is sooo good! I love the food portions as well, size is just right.Sauvage Mama Breakfast plate is your full breakfast, while you can skip the avocado toast and opt for something else. One of us is vegetarian and said it did not hit the spot. The atmosphere of the restaurant definitely a Parisian cafe! Brought back memories! Will come back for the food, drinks, and ambiance.“
“We came in for a special occasion and my wife and I left quite happy with our experience. The duck breast, the cocktails, the mood and most of all the service (thank you Kylie W) was top notch. There is also a robust wine selection if that’s more your preference. Recommend for a special date night!“
“We took a friend to Mistral to celebrate his birthday tonight and our waiter, Leni, made the evening so special! He was very attentive but let us set the pace, he was always available to attend to our needs but we never felt rushed. He recognized that we were celebrating a birthday and had a dessert sent to our table, complete with a candle, so that we could celebrate in style. The food and drinks were prepared to perfection, as always, but it was Leni who truly made the night special for us. I highly recommend Mistral for special occasions, as well as weeknight dining (their pizzas are awesome) and highly commend Leni for his superb service.“
“We had an amazing meal in this cosy, warm and welcoming joint right in the middle of Newton centre. We went without a reservation and sat at the bar. The food was perfect in every way which does not happen frequently and when it does – it is a great experience. The cavatelli was outstanding. Same with the porkchops. The deserts were great too. The staff were attentive , and at the same time knowledgeable about what was on offer. The manager too was extremely nice and offered us some very helpful advice on the venue itself. All said, this is a place that one can keep going back to.Parking: Generally enough spots except during weekends“
“They had a Nowruz celebration thing that we attended. They served this wonderful 4 course meal. It was like the distillation of Persian food. Thy really get the authentic flavors but in new preparations. Like this take on "Ash Reshteh" that was a cold soup with bright herbal flavors and squid rings. Or their "Ab Goosht" was a cross between a smoky burger and a lamb "Mahiche".Such great experience.“
“Rochambeau was a great hidden gem! We loved the atmosphere upstairs at the brassiere. Very French— nice lighting, mini palms, beautiful bar out of the 1920s, large windows, full view of the kitchen behind a glass wall. I’m not sure if we came in thru the “main entrance”, because the street level entry room was virtually empty. But don’t let that throw you.Delicious drinks in small French cocktail glasses. I had “Thief of the Mountain” which was a cross between an Old Fashioned and a Manhattan. Nice wines available by the glass. The food was excellent. We had octopus, lamb, and soup for apps. Then duck, salmon, mussels, and pasta bolognese for dinner. All were delicious! 4 drinks & 4 meals for under $300 (before tip).Highly recommended!“
“I would certainly return to this restaurant. The bread isn't very good with artificial butter but don't let this deter you. Everything (except beef tartare)made up for the bad first impression. Beef bourguignon - 5 stars Filet mignon - 5 stars Tartare de boeuf - 3 stars (didn't come with chips contrary to the description.and was very acidic) Foie gras sautee - 5 stars Cocktails - 4 stars - no better or worse than you typical cocktails Crème brûlée - 5 stars - hard to go wrong here but delicious Service - 5 stars - our waiter was so friendly and went above and beyond to make our experience excellent. Hands down the best service I've had in Boston. I would give him 10 stars if I could“
“Dinner at a place like No. 9 Park is more of a total experience than a meal. Your whole night will be thoughtfully considered- delivered through a very personal level of service. The wine list is extensive and the servers and sommelier have always offered bangers, even given constraints on preference and cost. My wife and I are plant based eaters, but we are treated as 1st class citizens by a restaurant that could easily give us the cold shoulder. When dining on the tasting menu, you will be presented with dish after dish of well prepared items that are as beautiful to look at as they are appetizing to eat. Seasonal options will be on offer, so be sure to keep an eye out- such as the fresh black truffle upgrade- and the ambience of a cozy-but-elegant side room with a view of the park will only enhance the meal. No. 9 Park is holding the candle in terms of fine French style dining experiences in Boston, so if you're looking for that kind of energy, this is your spot.“
“It’s been a long time since I last dined here and it was just as amazing as I remember. We loved all of the food here—excellent and of a high caliber. We started with the oysters which were (I think) the best oysters I’ve ever had. They brought out bread afterwards with freshly scooped butter. Might be some of the best rolls and butter I’ve had too. The bread, lightly salted on top, was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The butter, which melts into the bread as you spread it, had notes of honey in it too adding an extra sweetness. Top tier. All of the entrees were stellar, and one thing I loved was how appropriate the portion sizes were. We finished everything and were content without being overly full. The steak was cooked and seasoned to perfection with mashed potatoes. The creamy carbonara was flavorful with the squash. The branzino was also cooked perfectly and came with tasty sides. And lastly the scallops had a great sauce and went well with the mushrooms. We tried the date cake and chocolate soufflé for dessert but it wasn’t anything crazy or over the top. They don’t have a pastry chef.Lastly I’ll comment on the decor as the vibe was quiet and nice with fun pictures hanging around. The back door is also connected to a speakeasy!“
“We walked over to this restaurant from a convention next door and were so surprised by how great the place was. During lunch, it wasn’t too crowded and we immediately got seats. Dishes for lunch were 20-30$, but a fantastic size. I had the hot Italian and it was delish- and reasonably priced. Great, calm retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city!“
“Really cute inside! Nice friendly service and fair prices for somewhere in the heart of the south end! Portions were a little small but I don't mind. I had the skillet scramble and it was pretty good. I'm looking forward to going back and trying other menu items!“
“We went for brunch with our 9 year old. We got 2 spicy bloody Mary's, highly recommended, and the steak tartare. I do wish it came with 6 chips not 4. Our server steered me to the croque madame over the beouf benidict, it was one of the best I've ever had in my life. We had crème brûlée a Negroni and an espresso martini. Can't wait to go back at night for the escargot.“
“This is the cutest place! It is so comfortable and inviting. The waitstaff was friendly and accommodating. Almost seems like you are visiting a friend's house The food is fresh and delicious! I was even given a cookie for being there my first time!!“
“The food and wine was excellent, our waiter made some great suggestions for wine pairings too. I really enjoyed my time here. It can get a little bit loud, but that's to be expected for a smaller venue. I was still able to chat with my friends no issue though.“
“I was here with a work group for dinner. The food was very good but portions were small. The highlight of our dinner was our server Kristen! She was well informed and so friendly. None of us had been to Boston before, and despite being very busy, she took the time to write out a list of things to see and do. Thank you Kristen!“
“Our food was delicious and service was great. When we arrived only two tables were taken but we were walked to a table right next to the bar. Why? The noisiest spot? And there were many quieter and nicer locations available, so we chose one of those. I think that offering one of the better tables in the beginning would be a kinder gesture.“
