“I really enjoyed my experiences at the The Walrus. They have fresh shucked oysters, the Wally's are the house oyster and they were very good. I think I tried every fresh oyster and there were some excellent options that I thoroughly enjoyed. I also had the lobster roll togo and it was loaded with lobsta. They crab cakes were ok, but they are not using fresh local crab meat. The service was fantastic, it's what had me return, a great experience! The great fresh oysters were also a draw for me.“

You can request, to have your food, lightly seasoned or a lot of seasoning. I recommend the Jumbo shrimp!!! Not like most carry-outs, it’s cooked fresh, not frozen, and absolutely delicious. For a restaurant embedded in a museum one would imagine the many grab and go or poor service options found in many if not all of the DC attractions nearby, but rest assured this is not that. The prices are affordable. The food is delicious. The service is wonderful. My only complaint? I was not expecting the shear amount of food coming my way. The chicken and waffles were simple and astounding. My partner's shrimp and grits were, in her words, "just like ma momma used to whip up!" The cornbread appetizer was fresh. Our drinks, neat and clean. The list goes on. I should also add that the menu was overwhelming... in a great way. I could hardly contain my giddiness when attempting to make my choice. As a Guatemalan, I found the creative use of Latin American ingredients and flavors in the unique dishes at The Study not only interesting and creative but also familiar and nostalgic. I love it when food takes me to a happy place. Chef Tomas Chavarria and chef Madeline Guzman can really create magic in the kitchen. Some of my favorite dishes included the kalbi ssam short rib lettuce wraps, the sweet plantain empanadas, the Costa Rican ceviche, the duck magret and achiote, the tres leches, and the coffee flan. The restaurant wasn't too crowded. Jayla asked if it was our first time at Blackwall Hitch, which it was, so she went over the local favorites. She recommended the flaming crab dip and it was delicious!!! Jayla offered us extra Naan chips which I thought was generous for an upscale restaurant. I can only speak to the atmosphere in the bar, but I thought it was very cool, laid back, with just the right amount of sophistication. Parking is easy but can look deceiving; the joint parking is for many businesses so hard to tell from outside how busy the restaurant is. I'd definitely be back again.“

The outdoor patio has heaters; low chairs require boosters. Pets are allowed on the edges of the patio. They have a long beer list with some ciders thrown in.Friday evenings gets really packed, so arrive early or late and plan to wait a bit. “We had not been here in a long, long time, but decided to go again after touring it as a potential venue for one of our son's weddings. Unfortunately, the size of the largest room could not accommodate his group, but we loved the location and ambiance. So my spouse and i went there to celebrate our anniversary last night. When I booked online, I had requested the oldest room, which dates back to the 1700's and has a huge fireplace, old walls, original floors. When we got there we were told that they had closed that room due to a wedding outside of it that we would be able to see through the windows, but had set a table up in there just for us, if we wanted to sit there. We were blown away and said yes. We had our own room, the waiter was VERY attentive, honestly, we felt like VIP's. This kind of treatment for folks who are not known or regulars was outstanding. The food was ok, not the very best, but nice. We are used to fine dining and outstanding food. Overall, the experience was lovely. We finished up the evening sitting in front of the huge old fireplace, with a roaring fire, sharing a dessert and sipping an after dinner drink. Cedar Knoll TAKE A BOW!“

My personal favs are the Cotswold mac n cheese w crispy onions, ANYTHING with duck (especially the salad), and the daily risotto.Vegetarian options: The meat is definitely the strong suit of this place for most dishes. However, there are available options on the menu for non-meat eaters that are also good and don't feel like an afterthought.Parking: It is a shared free parking lot with the other shops and boutiques in the upper-class strip-mall there. Sometimes when it is really busy, you might have to park 30more steps away from the door, but this food is worth more than 30 extra steps.Kid-friendliness: Not many "kids" items on the menu. But if the supposed child likes to eat good food, this is def a place for them. The crowd who goes tends to be older (I don't see too many kids there regularly), but the cheeseburger and mac n cheese definitely will make any average kid overjoyed.Wheelchair accessibility: The place is a little small, but intimate.
