“I spent two full weeks at the National Fire Academy studying Fire Inspection Principles. Had a fantastic time. Everyone was absolutely grand. The evenings spent at the Ott House in Emitsburg made the time spent there e even more memorable. Thank you The Ott House People.”

“A last second decision to have a burger for lunch, plus a good friends' recommendation led me to the Carriage House Inn, and I'm happy it did. From the moment I walked in and encountered Linda at the hostess stand I knew this was the place for me. She was professional, with a great sense of humor. I hadn't thought to make a reservation, so I called from the lobby to set one up (she got a kick out of that) and when she asked me what time, I looked at my watch and said, "oh, right about now". Thankfully, they had plenty of available seats as they had just opened for lunch.Theresa was my server and recommended her favorite burger, a mushroom and swiss. I hadn't come in thinking mushroom/swiss, but I'm glad I took her advice, as the burger was juicy and fantastic. She was yet another lively part of this establishment with a great sense of humor. The Carrigae House Inn was lovely inside and out, not what I was expecting, and better than I could have hoped for in terms of the friendliness of the staff. I am certain locals know about this spot and come often, but as I was just in for lunch, it was an absolutely fantastic surprise. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, and intend to go back for another meal soon.”

“This is one of the nicest family restaurants I’ve been to in awhile. It is small, only a few tables, but they have a booming pizza and takeout business. We ate in. Their homemade meatlover’s lasagna was awesome. Tasty sauce. Plenty of melted cheese. Lots of meat! Baked perfectly and still bubbling when it was brought to the table. And the meal included a salad! The portion was wonderfully large. Think of a full sized pie tin on a large dinner plate. Talk about value! I had half for dinner and half for today’s lunch. Also, the little loaf of Italian bread was superb. The staff is very friendly and multitasking continually, but not so busy that they won’t check on you regarding how the food is or if you need your drink topped off. In any case, if you’re in Emmitsburg, this is a definite stop. If I’m back this way I will be definitely be stopping back. Now time to catch my flight. God bless!Vegetarian options: There are definitely meat-free vegetarian friendly options. I’d be comfortable bringing a vegetarian friend here.Dietary restrictions: They have vegetarian options, Greek salads, etc. I got the lasagna because I wanted a hearty meal.Parking: Only a few slots in front of the restaurant, but this is in a plaza next to Jubilee Grocery, so there is no lack of parking.Kid-friendliness: There were children there and the restaurant is certainly family oriented.Wheelchair accessibility: Easily accessible. Near a grocery store as well. No steps to climb.”

“I always travel 1hr 15mn for this place. Its always worth it! Make a reservation if you want a booth! Both blue crab and snow crab are amazing! Maryland Crab Soup available too! Will always keep coming back! Staff is super attentive! All you can munch!”
“Awesome food.Great prices and service. Get there early. Don't forget to stop by the Firehouse across the street and grab some gear and a 6 of Hearts entry or a surprise cooler entry.Get some.”
“Wonderful that it is on campus. But it's a noisy place even when not crowded. The soft pretzels are great. The Guinness pour is terrible. It's more bitter than canned Guinness Draught.”
“The food is delicious and season just right; I would rather eat there at Mount University than at the regular restaurants in the area of Frederick and Gettysburg. The price and portion is just right for my family and I on every visit.”
“Very sweet and informative young lady that waited on me.Smoothie was delicious! Glad I finally stopped in to see for myself how awesome this place is. Deserves more than 5 stars!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

“I'm from the south and I couldn't find good BBQ. I've been passing this place from FT Dix to my home in Frederick for a year. OK you got me, and I wish I could get that whole Chicken not a 1/2. You have my vote #1 get CHUBBYS. Also the new hostess is awesome give her a raise April 12 2024”
“UPDATE: The manager Travis refunded me for the order and provided an update via email. I am very pleased with the quick resolution to this issue! My order was wrong and there wasn't any meat on the Italian sub. I requested a refund and was given the run-around. There should be a refund policy for the times when they make an error.”

“I’m from Orlando, so when visiting here, I just HAD to try the butterbeer and it was amazing! Great service and such a friendly environment. 11/10 recommended for anyone passing through Gettysburg!”
“We come to Gettysburg twice a year and always try to stay somewhere new every time. We are so pleased with our stay at Cashtown inn that we will start staying there at least once for our annual visits. I can't say enough about how accommodating the owners and staff were and very knowledgeable of the history of the area and ready to share with you all they know. Of course there is a bit of haunted stories of the building and area, so no matter whether you're coming for the haunts or coming to relax, this is the best place to stay. By far.”

“First time in Gettysburg so asked the concierge in my hotel if he could recommend a restaurant with my caveat being if you only have one night in town - and you’re a foodie with a chef husband - where is THE do not miss place. And he didn’t even have to think about it. Hands down Sign of the Buck is where I should go. But he said reservations are a must so I jumped onto Resy and booked a spot for 7pm. I am SO glad I took his advice because not only was this place incredible for Gettysburg but it is one of the most memorable meals I have had in Pennsylvania…period. Charming decor, very elegant and cozy. Hostess was warm and welcoming. My server was an adorable young lady and took great care of me throughout the evening. When it comes to cocktails - the options are extensive. They ALL look so tempting. But they smoked House Old Fashioned was the winner and it was incredible. Not too smokey which suits my taste so I was a happy camper. Starters were a tough choice too - had a tough time deciding but I finally chose the roasted Brussels Sprouts which sounded incredible from the description and they were phenomenal. So often they are either undercooked and hard or over cooked and mushy. They hit it out of the park. Crispy. Tender. Perfectly cooked and flavored with a cheese - I forget the name - and balsamic reduction they were just awesome. For my entree that was a no brainer. Venison of course! I mean this place is called Sign of the Buck so I figured the venison had to be their specialty. And that was for sure the right decision because it was the most beautiful presentation and the meat was cooked to perfection - medium rare as I requested. The accompaniments didn’t look like much at first glance. Pretty but when I tried them the squash and potatoes were superb and paired beautifully with the meat. As I devoured my meal I noticed more and more people arriving - clearly the word is out that this place is where it’s at in Gettysburg. Though I was stuffed and could have skipped dessert - my waitress brought me the menu and I just figured what the hell - I’ve come this far. Let’s go all the way. Baba with Calvados and maple cream!? Yes please. I am bummed I live 4+ hours away from here or I wouldn’t hesitate to make this place my staple for date night. Can’t wait until I return to this beautiful town again and will be sure to book a reservation before I come. Pretty sure these will be tougher to come by once word gets around about this jewel of Gettysburg! Cheers to Chef and team for a memorable evening.”

We will head back later today for round #2!!Dietary restrictions: Soy-free, soft serve ice cream.”

“Cute place on the back end of the battlefield. Mozzarella sticks were really good and cooked perfectly! The chili dog was just ok. Not enough chili and cheese sauce overpowered the bun. The pizza was good, but the sauce was tangy, overly chunky, and acidic. For the price was a good value and would go back!”

“Yum, just... yum. We are visiting Gburg and local family came by our bnb & brought cheesecake & cookies. We started sampling the cheesecake before dinner, and then had to go buy more quick before they closed. And we still have no leftovers. Local Gburgers, run- don't walk- to SwS! I'm only happy I don't live here b/c I'd weigh 100k pounds. Enjoy your gem of a dessert shop!”
