“I had a cookout to attend over the Labor Day weekend. I wanted to bring a dish. I decided on the Efo Riro and Jollof Rice. It was a huge hit. Folks were asking me how did I prepare it. I couldn’t lie and told them about Sunbim. They inquired of the location. I told them. I am very confident That Sunday and his wife Bimi (I think) will be getting some new customers. Sunday is a great guy! Honestly, I could eat their Efo Riro and Jollof Rice every day.“

“I had the pleasure of dining at Swahili Village Restaurant and I must say that the food and my experience was amazing. The food tasted so good and was accompanied by African music. The service was exceptional, with friendly staff who were happy to share their knowledge of the dishes and made sure my dining experience was just perfect. I loved the decor and the drinks were fantastic. I really am lost for words, apart from the fact that you absolutely have to eat there or you will miss out on something exceptional.“

“Food was so good, I was dancing the wholeTime while I was eating ?The beef suya was really tender, and it was the extra hot but I could tolerate it. The jollof was great and smoky flavor (party rice). The plantains were extra ripe and the way I like it. I am of Nicaraguan decent and enjoy maduros so if you like ripe ripe plantains then you will love them. The Zobo-lemonade was so good. I wonder if they make it in house. Nicaraguans drink it too but we call it “Jamaica”. The efo riro was great, small portion but great flavor. The suya wings were crispy and flavorful, I prefer flats so that’s the only thing that could have been better. Yeah, I’m doing the hour drive for spice kitchen very soon!!“

“Great food with amazing service. Prices are cheaper then average on food and drinks. I highly recommend the Gaba-Wata for meat lovers.Vegetarian options: All the vegetarian dishes are cooked fresh daily. Quite amazing I recommend the vegetable combo for a traditional mix of different types of vegetarian food.“

“I visited this restaurant while here from out of town, and I happen to go on a night they were closed. I luckily saw the owner and he said he was expecting guest so he would accommodate us as an exception. The food was absolutely delicious! Service was exceptional. You can tell the owner is really into what he serves to the customers. He knows his stuff and you can tell by the end result; great food. I would highly recommend this place. “I have visited several African restaurants in DMV. De.Raanch restaurants and Bar is absolutely bed when it comes real restaurants serving food.I heard so much about De Rannch: The pioneer of authentic African restaurants restaurants. We came here today to find out for ourselves. Upon entering the door, we were greeted with a smiling face by the lady who was behind the counter..She then walked up to the dinning room and sat us down .The menu is a light booklet with all the motherland foods. I decided to go for the hard to find items: Ishiehu, Nkobi, ugba,and bitter leaf soup. My friend ordered abach( African salad) to our surprise all these items were brought to our table hot and fresh. We looked at each other and said this is it. The management is serious about thier business. No stories just good authentic food.The environment is very clean. No smells, tables are shining. The restrictions are clean. This is what I cal restaurants. I strongly recommend De Ranch for the restaurants to treat your out of town guests.“

“My wife and I came here after seeing Lion King at Kennedy Center as we were hungry and we knew a place with this name. We came late around 11pm on a Friday night and only the bar was open and restaurant was closed. We tried a Margarita and an African Sunrise which were great especially the African Sunrise. The ambiance was nice and the service as friendly and fast. Need to come earlier another time to try the food and will have an updated review.“

“I moved from NYC to DC and I brought my food snob attitude. Then I stumbled across Open Crumb and expectations were low. To my surprise, I had the best meal I've had all year (including NYC restaurants). The Red Red is a perfect blend of spices and balance between sweet and savory. I've taken food to other friends in DC and they loved the peanut soup with chicken (more like gravy than soup and good over rice). Don't overlook this DC gem!“

“Found this place via google search. What a find!! Very authentic and delicious Ghanaian dishes. I had the red-red with chicken. It's my favorite Ghana dish and it was great. Huge portion ended up being dinner and leftovers for lunch. I'll definitely be back. Need to try the oxtails and egusi and waatye (sp?).“

“I am visiting and stumbled on this restaurant while strolling the neighborhood. What a diamond in the rough. My husband is from Gambia and he enjoyed everything he ordered. And the staff is outstanding. I will definitely be back for the great African food.“

“The food is really good in this little hole in the wall resteraunt. I had the pounded yam and egusi soup. It was a delicious assortment of meats in the soup. Additionally the soup was spiced well. The pounded yam also tasted like it was made with high quality ingredients rather than the powder instant pounded yam you make with boiling water. Now for the not so good. As good as the food is it's hit or miss wether they will have the food available. There have been a few times I've gone there, mouth watering, and ordered some pounded yams and egusi, oxtails, etc only to be told we are out today. My advice is to save yourself the trip and call your order in ahead of time. Which will help mitigate issue number two ...the wait can be very long depending on what's ordered. Most of the times I've been there there were only a handful of customers but the wait time stretched to about 30 minutes+. Yes I know this isn't McDonald's but when it's only you and another customer I think the food should come out faster. Regardless I still give them my business because the food is that good.“

“The minute I realized I was in the area I made it top priority to get there and when I did that’s when Heaven opened up to me. Yes I was blessed with the words to say, “Oxtail’s please!” With a big smile and loving personality the woman taking my order walked me through the sides. I must say that it was very hard paying attention due to the great smells of other very delicious meals being prepared. The atmosphere is so peaceful and very helpful, as I became excited to taste the masterpiece that was being produced just for me. So as I was called up to collect my meal all I could think about was eating, and yes you guessed right I didnt make it back to work however I pulled over in the parking lot and devoured the delicious food. “The Jollof rice was some of the best I've had in a long time, really spicy, and the tomatoe paste was not skimped on. The fried Croker fish is excellent! The Puff Puff, black eye peas, Agusi & spinish were all amazing and authentic. I would have given them 5 stars, but the service was unaccommodating and not as friendly as I would have expected, having been to Ghana. Even though this location is in the mall, it's Ghanaian cuisine at it's finest, I will be back!“
