“Japan Express seems to be a local teriyaki chain, and we came here for an early dinner. Their menu is pretty extensive, offering salads, maki fusion rolls, bento boxes, teriyaki combos, and sides. We ordered: +a Chicken & Shrimp Teriyaki - instead of the white or the fried rice, we opted for the noodles at an upcharge; this also came with a side of steamed veggies; I did request for the chicken to be extra well done, but it was just cooked through; the shrimp, while of a good size, were not deveined - they were cooked perfectly, though +a Chicken & Beef Teriyaki - instead of the white or the fried rice, we opted for the noodles at an upcharge; this also came with a side of steamed veggies; the beef was tender, but I wasn't a fan of the taste The teriyaki sauce used was not too sweet; the noodles were cooked perfectly and was a great choice instead of the rice options. I did wish that the steamed veggies were kept warm, as they were served cold. Don't forget to ask for Yum Yum sauce; this was a great complement to the dish. They do have packets of a generic hot sauce, which actually went well with the teriyaki. The portions are extremely generous, in which an order can easily feed 2 people. I honestly was a little apprehensive of this place, but I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was! Staff here are very welcoming and friendly. There are plenty of seats to dine in, but I did see many locals call ahead or order to-go. Plenty of parking in the lot; located next to Chick-fil-A. +generous portions! +friendly staff +plenty of parking +located next to Chick-fil-A“
“My debit card was used in an unauthorized transaction at this location on Jan. 26, 2024, for an order I did not place. Luckily, my bank caught it but I’m unsure if Hibachi Express is aware that their card system may be compromised. I really enjoy the food and the customer service here and hope this situation will not happen again.“
“4.5 stars (for the area) It's a shame that there are such terrible reviews for this spot. I don't know why people are expecting top notch sushi in Waldorf. You have to manage your expectations to the area it is located in. Their prices aren't as high as DC or northern VA sushi spots that specialize in sushi. Think of this as a place for no frills good sushi but not a fancy sushi specific restaurant. If you go with this reasonable expectation, you will not be disappointed. Also, there are so many other options other than sushi. They changed management in the last few months, so keep that in mind. They updated the interior, and it is much nicer. It's also a quaint spot that people mainly order takeout for from what I've seen in the many times we have been. The new service staff are friendly, but the miscommunication issue that some other reviews mentioned may be due to the language barrier. It seems that English is not the first language of the service staff, so that is probably the cause. If you want home-cooked Korean food vibes, this is the place. When I miss my mom's home cooking I go here! I believe this is a small, local owned business, so let's try to be kind and respectful in our reviews. We are all trying to make a living out here in this ridiculous economy.“
“I really like the lighting. As you can see from the photos the actual bar is illuminated, which gives the restaurant a mellow amber glow. Very clean and the staff wanted to ensure my order was perfect, correct and tasty. I ordered to-go and had an amaretto sour while I waited. I decided to eat there because the bartender was generous ?, I call it a cruise ship cocktail when they are well spiked, domo arigato. Very nice selection of $5 cocktails. The reason for the 4-stars for food is my food was a bit overly greasy and my wings a tad tough. The teriyaki sauce was yummy and not too salty, and yes I like salty. I didn't have sushi this visit but when I have in the past it was fresh and delicious.Again a reminder to the readers please support of our small businesses ?“
“Haven’t visited for a long time. Today , the food was great. Asked for crispy tofu and very spicy. Spot on. Mai tai x 2 was spot on. Our waiter was very attentive. Restaurant has a relaxed setting. Food was plentiful and good. Egg rolls were super crispy. Will be back.“
“Food was not bad for a buffet. Sweet tea tastes amazing! I'm not sure when they ever serve snow crab legs or blue crabs, even though pictures of both of them are on the outside of the windows to the establishment. They do tend to have the fried have crabs which are not bad. For an adult+drink is about $20.“
“The restaurant has a bit of a bland appearance, but it really big on the inside. We didn't sit at one of the hibachi tables so we were seated straight away. The menu for the entrees and teriyaki were very expensive, no less than $20 for anything. So, I got miso soup ginger salad and sushi rolls. My family thought that it was one of the best miso soups they'd ever had, and we've been to a lot of Asian restaurants. For sushi I got fried salmon skin and tempura shrimp, and they were both delicious. My dad got the chicken teriyaki and the serving was huge. I forgot my bag in the restaurant, and when I came back in our waitress handed it right to me, which was really kind of her. An overall good and delicious experience!“
“Decent old school American Chinese place with good food, wven with the nice hot green tea and real mustard paste! We came in late but were still served quickly and food made to order. Only complaint was Ko Pao chicken was mild and no chilis.“
