“Tried Ruthie's for the 1st time yesterday. I'd read many good reviews (understandably) but had never tried it. What a great find! It is light and airy. The service is friendly and efficient. The menu is interesting with a good variety. My salad was delicious and so large that I took half of it home for another meal as I saw others doing as well. My husband's barbeque was equally delicious. We will definitely be repeat customers!“

“If you’re looking for elevated southern comfort food then definitely stop here! The portions are very large and everything is delicious. Tarik was our server and he was very patient with our 1 year old and made great recommendations. We will definitely be back when we visit DC again.Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs and all the staff were very welcoming and patient with our 1 year old.“

“As a Texan visiting Succotash in DC, I was pleasantly surprised by the Southern charm infused into every aspect of the dining experience. From the moment I stepped inside, the ambiance transported me back to my hometown with its rustic decor and welcoming atmosphere.The menu offered a delightful array of Southern classics with a modern twist, showcasing the chef's creativity while staying true to traditional flavors. I couldn't resist starting with the fried green tomatoes, a staple back home, and they did not disappoint. Crispy on the outside, tangy and flavorful on the inside – just like Mama used to make.For my main course, I opted for the shrimp and grits, a dish I consider a true test of Southern authenticity. Succotash passed with flying colors. The shrimp were plump and succulent, perfectly complemented by the creamy grits and smoky bacon. Each bite was a symphony of flavors that reminded me of lazy Sunday mornings on the porch back in Texas.To top it all off, I indulged in a slice of pecan pie that rivaled any I've had before. The buttery crust, the rich filling, and the crunchy pecans combined to create a dessert worthy of a Southern grandmother's approval.Overall, my experience at Succotash was nothing short of fantastic. The food, the atmosphere, and the service all exceeded my expectations, making me feel right at home despite being miles away from the Lone Star State. If you're craving authentic Southern cuisine in the heart of DC, look no further than Succotash. Y'all won't be disappointed.“

“I had such a memorable night a Georgia Brown. Very welcoming place, awesome peach martinis to put our table in the right mood. Very kind staff, extremely generous portion, full of flavor. I was not able to finish the guambo which never happened to me before. Phenomenal, no question on why Georgia Brown is a local institution.“

“I will open with this; GW would be PROUD. The Mount Vernon Restaurant, compared to the thought of what it might be, is nothing short of a quaint and elegant establishment. For a restaurant embedded in a museum one would imagine the many grab and go or poor service options found in many if not all of the DC attractions nearby, but rest assured this is not that. The prices are affordable. The food is delicious. The service is wonderful. My only complaint? I was not expecting the shear amount of food coming my way. The chicken and waffles were simple and astounding. My partner's shrimp and grits were, in her words, "just like ma momma used to whip up!" The cornbread appetizer was fresh. Our drinks, neat and clean. The list goes on. I should also add that the menu was overwhelming... in a great way. I could hardly contain my giddiness when attempting to make my choice. If you are exploring the beauty of Mount Vernon with family or friends, or even on your lonesome, you have NO excuse to bypass this overachieving establishment.“

“My first time here. It's been a while since I had been out so for water me and my friends came here. The ambiance is cute. Very barrel like place. Especially if you are a whiskey drinker. The bottomless mimosas were a hit. Our waiter Mason was awesome. He assisted us with our many dietary restrictions lol. The manager even came over and chatted with us. I would definitely come back. Oh and we finished brunch off with a whiskey flight!!!! Yes a good time was had by ALL......“

“Embarrassed to say I tried gumbo for the first time ever, but I'm glad to say that it was at Puddin'. Very flavorful, very fresh and very filling. The service was immaculate. The server was able to make recommendations and easily talked me into trying the Brown Butter Bourbon Bread Pudding. It was so worth it!“

“This is just a temporary review until I get home and really have time to say what’s on my mind. The service was fantastic soon as me and my family walked in the door. We were Greeted with a big smile and positive attitude. We had a party of 20 people that was supposed to show up for dinner. Only a few of us showed up. I was sad that the rest of the family did not show up, once I ordered my sweet tea that changed my whole night. The tea was amazing nice and cold And sweet to perfection. Our waitress ( Sydni) Was fantastic. She really worked her tail off to serve my family. The hospitality Of this restaurant was fantastic. Our waitress made sure we had plenty of refills. I ordered the lemon pepper wings. They were fried to perfection. I ordered the pecan rub full rack of ribs which I would highly recommend my food was amazing. I’m ready to return again, but I have to control my weight lol. My wife ordered dessert Im not a big dessert person, but when I Taste that bourbon bread pudding OMG it was so delicious. I caught the Holy Ghost on my taste buds! I will definitely return and I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. You will not be sorry the food was worth every penny. I spent out my pocket.“

“Not too welcoming in 2024, I applied there when they first came to the neighborhood . lot of white people, then I figured out why they didn't hire me you but you never know the Pearl and the oyster. I hope they change their practices. Expeditor could manage your time a little better especially when you got gumbo and salad, and then the barbecue comes out cold. It lessens the experience of having to take it home and warm it up. But those biscuits stop me in my tracks.“
“This food is so good!!! Working out of a very small kitchen in Sycamore & Oak, with quality of the food that is better than most sit down DC restaurants. Husband got the Jerk Chicken sandwich and I got the shrimp tacos and they were both delicious!“

“Well worth the drive!! While visiting the Great Wolf Lodge in Perryville, Maryland I was in the mood for some soul food. I googled a few place by looking at the pictures, so Henry’s soul cafe in Washington DC caught my eye, Plus I was going to be in the area. Food looked good but I had to wait till I got back to my room to eat because I didn’t go to the one with a seating area, No problem though lol but I was hungry. All the sides were delicious, i got the rib plate it was good and tender. My wife got the fried pork chop plate and she loved it. So much food we was eating off each other plate.“

“Excellent food, up-to-date surroundings. Tupelo Honey's biscuits and blueberry jam are a savory & sweet combination that is the perfect start to the meal. I had the shrimp po' boy. The shrimp are doused in a chipotle sauce that had just enough heat to elevate the experience above the norm. I also tasted the pork shoulder and immediately regretted not getting it instead!“

“I visited this restaurant while here from out of town, and I happen to go on a night they were closed. I luckily saw the owner and he said he was expecting guest so he would accommodate us as an exception. The food was absolutely delicious! Service was exceptional. You can tell the owner is really into what he serves to the customers. He knows his stuff and you can tell by the end result; great food. I would highly recommend this place. Go open minded and you’ll come out happily experienced!“

“I am so happy this place is still open. ❤️ I used to work in the area. Whenever time would allow, my go-to order was the "Royale": BLT with fried egg, american cheese, and hot sauce. Just a mess of a sammich....BUT SOOOO FRIKKIN GOOD!!! Their fried chicken is good, so are the mashed potatoes. I wouldn't stray away from those options, but have heard good things about the pork chops.The very best thing about this place is THE PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE!!! I could always count on service with a smile, sometimes a good joke or two.“

“Was in from Detroit and stopped in to catch the Wings and Capitals game. Service and food was phenomenal. Pedro made the atmosphere awesome and even though the Wings lost the Capital fans were gracious with us being there. Went back the next night for dinner and it didn’t disappoint! Highly recommended!!“

“I ordered through grubhub & the food was soooo fresh & the container was wrapped in plastic which kept everything hot. I enjoyed the love that went into the fish being as tho I'm pescatarian. I would recommend this place for the fish“
“I work close to YOUNG'S!! IT'S literally the best fried chicken breast I've ever had it's so good! I live in Baltimore so I've eaten from several chicken spots! But this chicken is on another level of goodness! If they were open on weekends I would drive an hour to get it that's how good it is!Parking: Enough parking“

“I visited Kitchen Savages on a rainy Saturday afternoon for lunch. So it was not very crowded but it's inviting. The brunch menu was still being featured, so the choices were limited. I ordered the Chicken Wings and they were pretty good. I wished for a little more bite to the tangy sauce. I also ordered the Jerk Caesar Salad with grilled salmon. The actual salad and salmon were good, but the Jerk was very lacking. The salad was good but it had no character of a Caesar Salad, nor Jerk flavor IMO. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my salad and the Chicken wings. The vibe of this little spot is nice,chill, and friendly. I will come back for dinner. The dinner menu looks interesting. Nice addition to the reviving Historic Anacostia neighborhood.“

“I stopped here last weekend on a humble. I forgot about this spot because I don't really be in Waldorf anymore like I use to. I ordered the rib and chicken platter. I'm never disappointed. The ribs and chicken are bomb. The garlic cabbage is good and the macaroni and cheese was okay I wasn't disappointed. The potato salad is not good at all no season whatsoever just big potatoes and a bunch of sweetness. I will definitely leave the potato salad off next time. If you order the rib and chicken combo it will be enough meat to eat for 2 days. I ate the chicken the next day and made my own sides to go with it. I ordered extra sauce so when I reheated the chicken the next day by adding that sauce and threw it in the oven. It was the bomb.com. The bbq sauce is what makes the ribs and chicken taste good also along with the cooking.“

“Very well decorated definitely New Orleans vibe lively and crowded ,service was fine not over the top but met the requirements I ordered the mac n cheese it was good, collard greens were good but didn't have the kick I expected the cornbread I didn't like. The presentation is awesome but it is my preference to have a softer fluffier texture however if you like what is probably the original texture of cornbread you may like it. The portions are healthy.“
