“Amazing food and staff. We ordered the tequeños, one arepa peluda and cheese, and Pabellón. As Venezuelans, we could notice that everything is made with high quality ingredients and it felt homemade. The pabellón had a great amount of meat and black beans. I really recommend it if you feel homesick or just want to try new foods!Dietary restrictions: Dairy free options available.“
“Absolutely wonderful food - a gluten-free gift! My boys and I stopped by today and were thrilled with everything. We would eat here every day if we could. The owner/operator was so kind and courteous. Many thanks from NY!!Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free!“
“I visited Chicken + Whiskey for the first time recently after hearing great things about it for years. I don't know why it's taken me this long to visit. The 14th St location has a fast casual chicken spot in the front and a "hidden" whiskey bar in the back, behind a commercial freezer door. I visited for happy hour on a Friday at 5 PM and we were the first people there. We enjoyed the cocktails and food, especially with the happy hour discount. Happy hour runs Mon-Fri, 5-7 PM and includes $2 off all beers and arepas, $3 off all cocktails and sanguiches/wraps, $9 pisco punch, and $15 beer + wings combo. We had the Pisco Punch, Squash It, and Sweater Weather cocktails which were all tasty and $9/$10 on happy hour. We got the wings and beer combo and the Borracho Wrap, recommended by the bartender. The wings were good if a little dry, and actually came with all 3 sauces on the side. The wrap ($10.25 on HH) was excellent, the perfect balance of textures and flavors. Very impressed. Service was quick and friendly. Overall, we had good experience, but there are a couple opportunities to improve. The cocktails were clearly fall cocktails and out of season now that it's April. The beer + wings combo was a bit disappointing because it was only for the Tecate beer (not any beer). The 3.75% surcharge is also unwelcome. Finally, for a first timer, the food/drinks situation was a little confusing. Before visiting, we thought we would be able to order from the full menu at the back bar, but it actually has a limited food menu. Then, the door to the bar has a sign saying you can't take food and drinks back and forth between the front chicken shop and back bar, which gave us pause. The happy hour menu mentions a discount on "sanguiches" but the main drinks/food menu doesn't use this term. And while the menu design is very stylish, it's also very busy and a little hard to fully read and parse.“
“Arepa Zone has great food and service. I've tried multiple things here, and some of the entrees that I would personally recommend to people are the canosa arepa, pabellon arepa, and arepa domino. There's also the pabellon bowl, which you can choose between beef, chicken, pork, and veggie. I love how, with the beef pabellon bowl, the beef is cooked with a sort of stew flavor, while the beans don't have too much liquid, as it can be sometimes with Chipotle. There's also a good amount of basmati rice, which could use a bit more flavoring in my opinion, but the flavor of the plantain complements the beef.Overall, I highly recommend the pabellon bowls and arepas. Arepas are quite filling, so I would say that they are worth the price you receive. Pabellon bowls are fairly reasonable for being in DC.Vegetarian options: They have vegan and vegetarian arepas, and veggie pabellon bowlsDietary restrictions: They offer gluten-free options.Wheelchair accessibility: It is in Western Market, which has a ramp.“
“Oh my goodness! Those arepas are ridiculously delicious! Perfectly seasoned and plenty of meat! The shredded chicken Catira was AMAZING! Also had the yuca balls. Yummy too! I purchased one of their sauces and it was delicious with just the right kick! Definitely in my top 5 favorites!“
“I’ve been coming here for about 5 years. The restaurant is small but clean and the staff is always friendly.I always get the Chicharron con Arepa, Arepa Pabellon, or Arepa de Camaron. The arepas are always good and made fresh to order. This is not “fast food”, so if you are in a rush, I suggest placing an online order. If you are a fan of flan or tres leche cake, give it a try here. You can tell that they make the dessert in house. Both are very enjoyable!Street parking and garage parking are near by.“
