We found Athena's after a stop in Freeport, and boy are we glad we did--thanks Yelpers for pointing us in the right direction! My margarita was perfect--not too sweet, Tajin on the rim and yummy. And that carne asada! We're from San Diego and this was top notch. It's rare that you catch such an awesome vibe from a place, and Athena's has it. We loved it and are so glad we stopped in!
I stopped in on a Wednesday night and was treated to a very warm welcome by the owners. The inside is beautiful and the food outstanding. I tried the Linguica sliders and was not disappointed - just enough of a kick to make it interesting. If you're ever on Route 1 in Freeport, be on the lookout or you might drive right by. You'd really be missing out.

I was staying at the hotel across the street. I was not expecting more than a Maine taco (which is crazy incomprehensible) but... I had the best So-Cal carne asada in Maine. Wow. Not only was the food great but I made so many friends at the cantina that can't believe it. What wonderful people! Great times, great place, great people. I will be back. Viva la Freeport!
