“Basement Burger Bar is the exact type of place every downtown dreams of having. Patrick took great care of us and felt like a friend. The rotating beers on tap give you fun options to try. The paczki beer pairs perfect with the peanut butter burger. The junk burger is an awesome mess of deliciousness. The onion rings were fried perfectly. The burgers were huge, every portion felt super filling, and we even had leftovers. We're so excited to come back and try more of the menu!“

They also had animal heads on the walls which are not my favorite decor….. but it is a restaurant that serves exotic meat dishes, so it makes sense. Servers were very nice and food came quickly. “Sandy’s has been around a long time. Friends have been going there for years and we finally made it there ourselves. Great friendly service with traditional bar food. “Went in for lunchThere were 6 of us. We all had drinks and ate. The chicken wrap was delicious. Nice size sandwich. We ordered 2 hamburgers, which were also good size. We had the fried bologna sandwiches that were really good. The waitress was on the ball checking on us often. We will Definitely be going back.“

“We stopped in when they opened for the day on a Saturday. The owners were so pleasant and inviting. We were so early that the soup of the day wasn't ready yet. We were in town for a weekend event, the owner said come back that night and soup was on him. We had our bloody marys (which were very good) and our lunch.Came back later that night for dinner and to enjoy the live music. The place was very busy, but we managed to get our same seats at the bar even though our party had doubled in size. The owner saw us and within a few minutes the soup was in front of us, we didn't have to say a word.The staff was very attentive despite the enormous crowd. “The Lakes catered a bridal shower for us today. The food was fantastic and everyone enjoyed it. We had the Michigan Salad, Firecracker Pasta w/Chicken and Salmon w/Citrus Cream Sauce. The entire experience was outstanding. I've dined in before with my family multiple times and the food has always been delicious. I would highly recommend The Lakes.“

“Love this place. Across from Walled Lake. Karaoke is great on Friday nights but very crowded. It's a bar type of atmosphere.Parking: It depends on the day. During the day it's fine & early evenings. Nights when things like Kareoke are taking place the lot gets crowded & you have to find other parking close by.“

I was told they no longer sell food at this Bar & Grill but I didn't confirm if the kitchen closes very early, is temporarily closed or closed indefinitely. There is outdoor space and also a food truck up the alley behind the businesses on Grand River. The staff was friendly and there was plenty of seating. It's not huge but there was a perfect number of people to enjoy yourself and not be crowded with people breathing COVID unknowingly. Old school music with some hustle tracks thrown in. I would go back.“

“What a great evening. I got to catch up with a friend I haven’t seen in a year and decided to come here because I wanted to go somewhere I haven’t been before. I’m glad I made that decision. Mary was our server, and let me tell you, she is absolutely fantastic! Good customer service is so hard to come by these days, so it was a real treat to have someone so kind, energetic and dedicated to her job waiting on us. I also went with her recommendations on the food and she did not steer me wrong. Thank you Mary for making my evening .I had the Black and Blue burger and onion rings, and split some barbecue boneless wings. Everything was delicious and the burger was cooked to perfection. The server was outstanding and the food was excellent after sending one burger back because it was cooked medium, not well as ordered. It was quickly replaced and our beverages were refilled promptly, without asking. We will return in the future.“
