The owner was warm and friendly as she gave us a brief overview of the history of the space and made us feel welcome…She gave us food recommendations, and went above and beyond to make sure my wife, who is gluten free, had a delicious meal that fit her dietary requirements. I had a Chicago Dog that was outstanding and perfectly and accurately created, and my Wife had a bacon cheeseburger on gluten free bread, and it was some of the best gf bread ever! The ice cream was great, and the dozen house made donuts we took for the road were absolutely phenomenal! Don’t miss a chance to visit this gem, even if you don’t have food in, you will surely find something in their large selection of all Michigan made items to take home.Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free bread for burgers and sandwiches…They even offered to change gloves and a clean cutting board mat to avoid cross contamination.“

“I love this place so much ! I always get the two taco special and I scarf it down every time I’m the type of person to leave food on his plate after but I never leave crumbs after I’m done ! . Best food around Battle Creek hands down and the price is great !!! I would 100% check it out if you haven’t yet . Staff is always so happy and friendly! Suggestion try the mango tango smoothie! “I've worked there as well eaten there a number of times. My best friend left so there was an opening. Shawn was the server I replaced. Shawn was a awesome server she went above and beyond so I knew I had some big shoes to fill. One good thing for my advantage to is me and Shawn act a lot alike, walk alike so for a while I had to let customers know I'm hrt little sister. She is by far one of the best at what she does to make sure the guests left happy and most important they had an experience like no other. I modeled alot of her ways because being a waitress is just her title. Needless to say I had fun with the option to be her or me. Her passion goes deeper than serving a meal. It's her whole heart loving what she does best.“

“Some donuts, ice cream and food. This place is a hidden gem of a place. It’s a small town ice cream shop that serves homemade donuts and hard ice cream. They also have a food menu that is very reasonably priced and tasty. I didn’t take photos of the food, but the coney dog, pulled pork sliders and French fries were delicious!!!The ice cream is always top notch and the flavor I got today, caramel apple and it was amazing. The waffle cones come plain, chocolate covered, chocolate sprinkled, or chocolate and peanuts. The plain was flavorful and thin so it was not so hard or thick to over power the ice cream.The people who work there are all very friendly and accommodating. You never feel that you’re unwelcome. Definitely a plus.The inside gives you a feel of an ice cream store in the past. It has some things inside that will remind you of some early childhood memories. The outside is done nicely with seats and tables under a covered area which allows you to mingle and eat your food.The bonus is they have all sorts of fall things for sale such as flowers and pumpkins. “I actually helped build and create the outside patio at Umami and was treated to lunch by the owner and I tell you what I thought regular Ramen was really good LOL but Maruchan and Top Ramen don't hold a candle to umami at first I'm like wow $18 that's a little steep until I took my first bite and saw the portion, and an instant I'm like okay I get it now the price definitely correlates with the food on your plates. oh yeah and she let us drink Gatorades and stuff out of the refrigerator she was selling them we were able to help ourselves so she's really cool and definitely cares and takes pride and what she does. that's getting rare these days.“

You can truly tell it's handmade, especially the bread sticks. Absolutely amazing food , the staff is outstanding as well! You can't beat the brew pub pretzels with beer cheese and honey mustard. Right now they have 50 cent wings. They need to bring back the white cheddar bacon chicken skillet.“

“I've been spending a lot of time here the last few months so I can focus on work, and every single interaction I have had with the staff has been great! I've been a fly on the wall through the menu change and the staff has been so patient and understanding with every single customer whose had a problem (and there have been many!) They are always on top of keeping the coffee brewed and the dining area is nearly always clean. The bathrooms are always clean. I have literally spent days here at this point and I can't think of a single negative experience at all. They're just great!“
