0 a+ rating I would just say that everything was on time and it was hot prepared immaculately and on top of that you could get no better in service or privacy so if you want to instrument dinner with somebody that you care about deeply this would be the place to have it so a+ double a plus in my book

Our waiter was Don, and he was amazing! Funny, great conversationalist and his recommendations for what to order were spot on perfect!! This was our first visit to J. Gilbert's and it will not be our last. Every single thing we ordered was prepared perfectly and tasted amazing. We both ordered the filet combo and it comes with 3 courses, including dessert. It was so good we are still talking about it. And the bread they bring to the table is delicious!! Seriously, best restaurant experience we've had in a while.

Wife and I both ordered the hamburger, which was good. The menu said it came with sweet potato fries, which sounded good to me. When wife ordered, waitress asked if fries were all right as the side, and she said yes. I also said I'd like the fries, assuming it was the sweet potato fries. Our burgers came with regular fries, and when I asked the waitress whether it was supposed to be sweet potato fries, she said NO, it comes with regular french fries. I assumed I must've been wrong, but on the way out I looked at a menu, and sure enough, it said sweet potato fries. Maybe the waitress was annoyed that we ordered the least expensive item on the menu, but when I brought it up, she should have asked if we'd prefer the sweet potato fries. I hate when people lie.

Mesquite grilled steaks, so if you don't like the wood smokiness, this is not the place. Caesar salad was good, and pretty large, but nothing special. Sourdough bread was delicious. Steak (filet) was great. I don't usually use steak sauce, but the house sauce was really good. My wife's filet was slightly under done. I had the scallops which were well cooked. My wife had the crab cake and it was loaded with crab meat, but a little bland. I liked both the au gratin potatoes and the creamed corn. My wife really liked the sautéed spinach. Wine selection by the glass is decent, with a more extensive selection by the bottle. Desserts were delicious and service was outstanding.

Best place to get a steak in St. Louis for the money. Never had a better tomahawk anywhere else. The chicken tortilla soup is the absolute best I've ever had and the happy hour is the best happy hour in St. Louis! Affordable prices, consistently good food and amazing customer service!

Really nice experience. Went there for a business dinner. The servers were attentive and professional. Definitely on point.Appetizers were delivered promptly. Delicious. Beautiful restaurant! The seafood was very good. I did not have steak, but everyone at the table who had them.... seemed happy, and they looked amazing. Everyone enjoyed what they had.Lovely restaurant, well done! Very classy. I'd definitely like to return for steak. Lobster Mac and cheese was great also. Great spot!.

While we enjoyed dining out to celebrate multiple birthdays with family the food was just okay. We have dined in your restaurant multiple times over the years and food quality seems to be going down. My steak leaned on the tough side and I order a medium 6oz filet. Shrimp was "rubbery". Husband chicken penne lacked chicken, 3 pieces were in dish. Lighting made it difficult to read menu. While service was great! waiter was nearby when needed but not helicopter.

Always delicious. Food is hot and the flavors of different components on plate always complement each other. I especially like the two sides suggested with the entree as well as the option to substitute from other sides at no additional cost. Dessert offerings are the best of any restaurant I've visited. My go-to restaurant when I want a perfect meal prepared by someone else.
