Holy cow, this place was awesome. I went with a group of 7 for lunch today. It was slammed with customers but they still got our orders taken and food to us in good time. The lady taking orders was fast and efficient while also being an absolute pleasure to deal with. The rest of the staff was just as good. I got the meatball sandwich and it was truly amazing. I was full when I finished it but still disappointed when it was gone. Overall it was an amazing experience and I can't wait to go back the next time I'm in St. Louis.
The food is amazing! The staff is very friendly and my order came out quickly. I recommend this specific location to everyone I know.

I ordered a salad and got no dressing. When i called and stated i got no dressing, the person asked " do you want to speak to the manager?". I concented. When i spoke with the manager. They asked if i wanted to drive back for it. (Who wants to drive back anywhere for a condiment?)I said " i am letting you guys know so, you remember for the next person.*My statement was not acknowledged.*I never got any apology.* I should have gotten one or a discount for a future salad*they were rudeEveryone else in my group got SOGGY sandwiches and items they specifically requested to not be included in their meals!

Great food but my god they are slow you have to wait an hour for your food so if your on lunch look out. I believe the best way to get food from here is to order it online. Although I’ve seen some of those people wait quite a while also.

I'm a native St. Louisan, and I have no idea how I didn't know about Gioia's most of my life when they've been around since the early 1900s. I found them about 5 years ago, and they have since become my favorite sandwich place in St. Louis. You have to order your sandwich with their grilled cheese bread, or you're just not doing it right.I am a vegetarian, and even though most of their menu is catered toward meat eaters, their veggie sandwich is still very solid. I am still hoping that one day, they will make a plant-based version of their famous hot salami, so folks like myself can try it!
So excited to have Gioia's closer to my house! Same excellent sandwiches as the Hill area and other locations in town. Best sandwich in town. Lots of choices what you want added to their famous thick salami slices. Huge and very tasty sandwiches like nowhere else.

The staff could be a little bit more helpful, but the sandwiches are awesome. Love the hot salami.
Gioia's is the best.
