“Great place. Games are great bowling is awesome. Bartender, Jake. Great guy, treated us very well. We had quite a few drinks, a little food and played the games. All around great experience. Jake will make your experience even better! Bowling is not really advertised on the website. It’s $30 per hour, up to six (6) people, only two lanes so get there early. Worth it 100% and I’m a bowling fanatic.“

“Handlebar has recently come under new ownership, and I must say it's truly exceptional. The Thursday night trivia event is fantastic, with well-paced rounds and questions catering to all levels of knowledge. They have a pool table with great rails, and the bartenders are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The drink prices are reasonable, and the overall atmosphere is fantastic. I’ll definitely be coming back!“

“We had stopped by couple weeks ago just to take have a draft beer and take a look. We had a peek at the menu and liked what we saw so we decided to return to try it out. We returned a few days ago and found out that food service began at 4:00 so we returned the next day. We had heard that the cheese steak was excellent and it was! We had them add lettuce and tomato to the sandwich and added an order of fries. The meat is thin sliced ribeye that was juicy and delicious and the bun was perfect. The fries were also excellent - hot and crispy fresh cut fries the way they are supposed to be. We will be returning soon to sample other menu items.“

“I don’t like wings but or restaurants really at all but when I seen my server Grace come up to me and give me that impeccable service I just knew. Only thing bad I’d say is when I asked for my water on the rocks another server came and did not serve the water on the rocks. Other then that keep up the good service I’ll definitely be back and asking for Grace.“

“I have written less than 10 reviews in my life. However, I felt inclined to write this. My partner and I are Australian and earlier this year we travelled extensively throughout the US. We stopped in here in May 2024 and had the pleasure of being served by Gabriel. He was charismatic, kind and efficient. He made us feel extremely welcome and the whole experience could not be faulted. We look back on this with great fondness as it was a standout for us in terms of both food and service. We had the oriental chicken salad and ribs. Gabriel introduced us to some of his colleagues and showed genuine interest in what we had to say about Australia, as well as how much we love the US. He is a credit to the establishment. We thought of Gabriel, as well as other residents in Asheville, and the broader community, when we heard about the impacts of Hurricane Helene. “My wife and I moved to the area in April of this year. We live in Arden NC and have visited many restaurants in the area. This past Sunday we visit the Hickory Tavern to watch football. We were warmly greeted by Amanda who I suggest as one of the best servers we have ever had.

We shared a hamburger which was perfectly cooked along with french fries that were crunchy on the outside and smooth on the inside. Both were fantastic.

You guys have the best specials in town, especially for Sunday when all specials during the week are available on Sunday. She had cocktails and I had a bucket of beer, a great value.

The atmosphere was second to none considering! I am a sports fan and have visited many sports bars. The menu was diverse and the entire day was wonderful. My wife Charlotte Massey was so impressed that she has applied for a server position at the Hickory Tavern!
