“Mint is the best restaurant in the Boone/Blowing Rock area! The food is fantastic, most ingredients from India. Cucumber salad and hot cauliflower appetizer, the saag options are all amazing. The service is attentive, friendly and professional. Aman is the best. He remembers us and makes us feel special plus he makes the most delicious drink - Mango Mojito. Atmosphere is nice, and to top it all off it’s a great value.”

“If you are looking for a cool vibe? This is the place. The food is fantastic!! The owner makes the best hot wings in NC and that's the truth. Football Sunday this is the place Wings and great draft specials. Also if you have that family who cant agree on where to eat. This place has something for every appetite. The bar atmosphere is amazing ..shots at the bar, getting crazy or just chilling with some boonshine chatting over a beer. Also didn't see any news channels! politics are not in this restaurant its all about good times and a good meal. These folks got it right...love the staff. “𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐚𝐫 – 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐍𝐂 ---- We are visiting Boone for the next few weeks and decided to check out some of the local restaurants, which landed us at this restaurant just down the street from downtown. --- As an experienced traveler, having explored 68 countries and 36 states, I approach restaurant reviews with clear criteria: Taste, Presentation, and Service. My goal is to provide an unbiased perspective, highlighting both strengths and weaknesses. --- The ambiance was a cross between country and modern flare, with exposed beams, plumbing, and eclectic art combined with beautiful rock walls and pillars and a fireplace, creating a warm, cozy, and perfect environment to meet friends and family, go on dates, or have social get-togethers. --- Wait Staff – Braeden was our waiter. You could tell he was a little green, but I was truly impressed with his attention to the table, which made sure the entire journey this evening went flawlessly. --- Let's talk food. --- Fritto Misto Appetizer – I thoroughly enjoyed the combination of calamari, artichoke, zucchini, and pickled peppers. The batter was expertly executed—crispy but not overly so and wonderfully light. The lemon caper aioli was a perfect complement. My only suggestion would be to differentiate the textures a bit more. If the pickled peppers were sliced and left unfried, they would add a vibrant color contrast and a sweet, tangy balance to the dish, enhancing the overall flavor profile. --- Roasted Chicken Cacciatore – I want to start with the sauce as it was terrific. The combined tomatoes, onions, olives, artichokes, and sweet peppers create a rich and hearty sauce to complement the dish. This truly held the dish, complimenting both the chicken and roasted potatoes (perfectly seasoned and prepared). This chicken was cooked well and juicy inside; however, it was SALTY. I would have preferred no salt because the sauce was so good it was a great flavor for the chicken. The dishes presentation overall was well done and very inviting. --- New Zealand Lamb Chop – The lamb chops were cooked to perfection. I had asked the waiter to let the chef choose the ideal temperature, and they absolutely nailed it. The chops were impeccably seasoned and prepared, making them a standout dish. Accompanying the chops was grilled broccoli, which had a well-seasoned flavor profile with crispy ends, adding a slightly grilled taste. Though it was a bit undercooked, the overall flavors made up for it. Unfortunately, the Italian pepper risotto was less successful. It was overcooked to the point where it could be shaped and lacked the robust flavor one would expect. The subtle hint of peppers was barely noticeable. The presentation was also disappointing; the dish seemed haphazardly arranged. A more thoughtful plating approach, with the risotto as a base, broccoli neatly arranged on top, and the lamb chops elegantly stacked, would have significantly enhanced the overall presentation. --- Clams Linguine – This was my least favorite dish, primarily due to the sauce. When it arrived at the table, I was surprised to see clams linguine served with a red sauce, which is quite unusual. Despite the menu mentioning white wine as part of the preparation (which I generally enjoy), the heavy tomato presence overshadowed it. The sauce's flavor was unappealing and lacked the balance I was expecting. I couldn't quite identify what was off, but it detracted from the overall appeal of the dish. --- Overall, I would still go back. I think from a flavor profile standpoint, most of the dishes tasted excellent overall, but there was some poor execution on a couple of the sides and too much salt on the chicken. I think a few little tweaks could help maintain an elevated position in the local community.”

While waiting for our table in the bar area some very rude customers decided to bully a local customer that ended with her being very upset. Katrina, Stephen and Landon (I hope I have their names correct) went above and beyond to ensure this young lady was protected and taken care of. Not only is the service, food and atmosphere amazing, we will continue to visit Makoto's because of the actions these individuals took to protect a customer.”

Their staff was friendly and helpful with all our questions……the coffee was great!! My goal is to provide an unbiased perspective, highlighting both strengths and weaknesses. --- Ambiance – The restaurant blends the local cabin feel with modern décor creating an amazing indoor and outdoor dining area suitable for small gatherings including friends, family, business meetings, and groups, along with the ability to entertain larger setups for group events. They utilized modern touches such as large chandeliers and decorative lighting coupled with local artwork on the walls to create a culturally diverse space with a local vibe. --- Wait Staff - Our waitress was exceptionally attentive, offering insights into the diverse flavors of the menu. Highlights included Woodfired Flats & Pizzas, Handhelds/Sandwiches, Burgers, Tacos, and Soups/Salads. --- Food – In an area with plenty of traditional food options that provide standard burgers, sandwiches, and salads, this restaurant stands out by elevating ingredients and flavor combinations to new heights. Each dish showcases a commitment to fresh, quality ingredients and innovative flavor profiles truly brings their dining experience to an elevated level. --- Boone Philly: Deemed a customer favorite featuring tender chicken (or steak) paired with onions, peppers, mushrooms, and melted cheese on French bread. This seemingly simple dish impresses with its robust flavors and perfect harmony of taste, texture, and blend. It’s not your typical Philly. I would put this sandwich up against some of the local staples back in Philadelphia. --- Fig and Bacon: A standout dish, the Fig and Bacon grilled chicken sandwich on toasted sourdough is topped with applewood smoked bacon, whipped goat cheese, smoked gouda, and housemade fig marmalade. The fusion of sweet, savory, and creamy textures creates a truly exceptional culinary experience. My only small criticism is to be careful with the goat cheese. There were bites of the sandwich where the goat cheese overpowered all the other flavors. --- Side Options: Sandwiches come with a choice of chips or coleslaw, with upgrades available like Sweet Potato Fries, Mac N’ Cheese, Grilled Asparagus, and Fried Plantains. Do not just pass by the homemade chips, crafted with the same dedication to quality and freshness evident in every aspect of the menu. --- For those seeking a lunch spot that redefines classic dishes with innovative twists and exceptional quality, this local gem, open for lunch and dinner, promises a dining experience beyond the ordinary.”

“My wife and I had the Dragon bowl and the Acerola smoothie. Both were absolutely delicious! The bowls were bigger than others we have had in the area and the fruit was so fresh that I thought they were growing it in the back! Jessica and Mike are the best and they are so welcoming that you feel like you have known them for years. Next time, and there will be MANY more next times, I'm going to add cacao nibs. I think the chocolate would add another mood boosting layer to my already insanely healthy breakfast. This kept me going all the way to lunch and I even skipped coffee! I can't wait to go back to Seaboard Station Palm Berries and try the next bowl.”

“There have been comments about how slow the service is. Well let me tell you, when the "biscuit experience" is like mine, there is going to be a wait from the throngs of people just scrambling for the experience because it was ah-mazing. I got a country ham, egg, cheese biscuit. The ham was perfection but that biscuit... let me just tell you, I have had many... I mean MANY biscuits in my 68 years but NEVER have I had one where the biscuit did not crumble. Eating a sandwich this flavorful without a crumbling biscuit made for the most wonderful breakfast biscuit I have ever had. If I thought for one second they would divulge their recipe I would certainly ask. Again, the best breakfast biscuit experience this 68 year old has ever had. Well done!!!!!”

Favorite was the strawberry cheesecake cookie but all were great. More on me for not realizing and not a big deal but understand that they are baked to order so expect to wait while they are in the oven. Trust me they are worth it.”

We got the Holloway burger and a chicken quesadilla. Burgers tasted fresh and hand pattied. The Mexican soups beans are delicious & would be great with a fat slice of cornbread. We will definitely be back. Can’t wait to try breakfast!!”

“This is a must visit during your trip to Boone! Take your kids, grandkids and your significant other. Go see Mike at Little Wing. He has GREAT ice cream and highlights 22 local artists in his shop. The ice cream choices are lots of wonderful local flavors that you will enjoy in a cup, cone, or waffle cone. Mike and his team are also at the Appalachian State Football games with their ice cream cart at the home games. Go see them on the home side. Best treat at Kidd Brewery!”

We loved the brick wall where we sat. Even the one bathroom had brick showing and really liked the sink and dresser/bottom of a hutch?

We were welcomed in by Sandra. She was very friendly and helpful! She explained how to order our food.

We looked over the menu and I ordered the chicken pesto panini. My daughter ordered the balsamic berry grilled cheese. We also received a side of microgreens. It did take a while to get our food, as they were busy, but it was worth the wait! The sandwiches were absolutely delicious!!!

“Loved the mother daughter weekend R&R all inclusive retreat. We enjoyed yoga, meditation, massages and short hikes. Food was good. Room was nice and clean but a little warm (no AC). Only complaint is the yoga equipment room smelled bad, like dirty socks. Yoga mats, pillows and seat backs were noticeably dirty and no one wiped them down after use. It was a major turn off and hard to overcome with meditation but we tried. I came home with Covid.”

We ordered it from a delivery service have my granddaughter got a flat bread pizza that she couldn’t even eat she said it was disgusting. Just a suggestion maybe you want to use the mini chocolate chips in your cannolis I think they would be much better than trying to eat the big ones with the cheese mixture. At least they were good. Their house vinaigrette was very good at least I enjoyed the salad!”

“FB peeps, this is a Five Guys, so it goes without saying that the place is spotlessly clean and the burgers and fries are excellent. The staff is excellent as well -- always pleasant and friendly, AND... Yesterday, Lisa Zakolski had to be taken out of the restaurant on a stretcher (no worries, she's fine -- albeit tired -- and resting comfortably). Far from being unhappy about all the commotion, the staff could not have been nicer. In particular, one young man, whose name I unfortunately don't remember (as you can imagine, I was a bit flustered), was a total sweetheart -- he prayed with me and refunded our uneaten lunches and offered directions to the hospital. Such a nice guy! So, in summary -- great fast-food place! Everyone should go and give them business. 😊”

“Halal Japanese restaurant. The chef and most of the staff is Indonesian. We were so happy to find this restaurant in a beautiful town. The store itself doesn’t have a scanner yet (corporate needs to fix that asap), and those 2 employees just smile and work through the obviously frustrating situation. I love finding a good local pizza joint. I recently moved to Boone and was encouraged to try Capone's. I always get carry out, and the pizza and pesto cheese sticks are always great.

I also really enjoy the house blue cheese and thousand island dressings for dipping pizza and cheese sticks in.”
