“Dinner at The Cowfish is always a win. We’ve visited the Orlando location dozens of times, but tonight bisited the Charlotte location since we were in town. Faith, our server, recommended the Togarashi shrimp, and it was phenomenal. Mel, the manager, came out and spoke to us about our visits to Orlando, made some more recommendations, and made sure we were well set for the evening. We had the Buffalo chicken sandwich and Texas chili cheeseburger, both were absolutely excellent. The Cowfish is a must stop in Charlotte or Orlando!“

The place is Loud for Dim Sum (that when we were there, Sunday morning). This place has really on point dim sum which my friend and I are thrilled about. We came from Raleigh and had a concert the night before and wanted to check out what. Charlotte had to offered. I have to tell u to get all the shumai and chicken feet u could get your hands on. The ladies with the carts will push the cart of goodness around every table so it may take a minute: from jelly fish salad to tripe... Very good by the way. We loved everything we had. The cleanliness score was great and that means a lot. I took home one of their menus so I can call ahead next time. Might try the Pad Thai with peanuts next time. The ramen was large in portion and had a variety of veggies and meats however I felt the flavor was lacking. The boba was okay but not the best. “Very welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. Upon first impression, you get the instant feeling of a Japanese style type of Speakeasy. Food was very well prepared and tasted wonderfully. Plates and chopsticks, although not the biggest factor, were of good quality and design. Wonderful staff and the owners seem to be down to earth people with the hunger of making their place one of the best in Charlotte. The standouts were the pork gyoza, which was both tender with a perfect pan sear on one side, and the shrimp shumai which came swimming in a sauce so flavorful that we dipped everything else in it! The spring rolls were decent, if a tad doughy for my taste. Do yourself a favor and order the double fried wings in Kudoku sauce. We seriously had to stop ourselves from getting another order because we knew the entree was coming. We shared the Korean short rib entree. I thought the pieces of meat would have been be a little thicker, but it was very tasty. The Brussels sprouts that came with it were phenomenal! “One poor woman was handling the entire dining room. She did an excellent job, so she’s not to blame. They could have been short staffed. The sushi was delicious. The sesame entree was heavily coated in a thick syrup that drowned the main feature and had no semblance of “brown sauce” as identified in the menu, but instead a sweet and sour type sauce that just wasn’t appealing. The pad Thai was just so so with a very bland base, but worse was the burnt sesame oil flavor that permeated throughout the dish. We would likely return for the sushi alone.“

Staff is great, great atmosphere too.Update: They have significantly reduced the quantity of meat (at least in the duck curry) since COVID, with the cost going up. I don't have to be searching for duck meat! Please go back to the original recipe! I have stopped going as often now as I used to go mainly for the duck curry. I still highly recommend Thai Orchid!“

“I’ve not had any of the bad experiences that the negative reviews shared. It’s a pretty run of the mill Chinese restaurant with the standard Americanized takeout dishes. I call when I’m about 15m away and the food is almost always ready or my wait in person is not more than an additional 5m. I usually order the beef and broccoli and the meat tastes fine to me and is usually pretty tender. My bf usually gets the general tso combo but when he gets the pork fried rice it’s usually not a lot of pork or other mix-ins and the pork pieces he gets tends to be a bit fatty. I noticed a review where someone complained the “general tsos didn’t have any vegetables” but the broccoli isn’t included in the combo, you have to get the chef’s special dinner size. Anyway, 5 stars for the service - that’s always fantastic, just deducted a star for the bfs fried rice observation (pretty consistent). No real complaints about the food we’ve ordered... good prices for a quick, satisfying meal (or two) - the portion size is probably enough for about 2 meals for me, especially if I supplement with a soup or appetizer.“
“My boyfriend and I went here for New Year's Eve and it was delicious! The atmosphere was laid back, and it wasn't busy, even during a peak holiday and time (which we loved because it was quiet). The server and food were both amazing! Our drinks were good as well. The food was just so good we kept ordering more. We got sushi, bao, seaweed salad, Bahn mi, and curry. I ordered a medium, rare, filet mignon, and it was prepared more on the rare side. I thought that fifty two dollars for one entrée with one veggie roll was pretty steep pricing for takeout. The portion size were reasonable, but not large, and hibachi includes fried rice, but not noodles. Would definitely return for the flavor, less jazzed about the pricing.“

“After reading one of my other pho reviews of other pho places I'm Charlotte I've really been contemplating one question: What is the quintessential American pho experience.Now, personally, I prefer the tight, small, let's say "quaint" vietnamese places preferably with a bunch of dudes outside smoking and/or playing cards. There has to be some kind of gambling machine nearby. The music is vietnamese. that kind of stuff.Be-em has truly nailed it. Heart mind and body. There's no host, no server to seat you, you walk in and order from a nice big tablet. Take your time. Read through it all. It's touchscreen so it's very intuitive. I love it. Really feels like more restaurants need to follow exactly Be-ems lead.For the heart, this place is beautifully decorated with high ceiling and just it's a while vibe you gotta check out. For the mind, there are these laminated papers that have the story behind the restaurants name and frankly it almost brought a tear to my eye, really soothes the soul to see hard work pay off and be so real. For the body, well ultimately this is why every one eats, the pho was great! Definitely a google maps 5 star. I will now include what I call my "graduated pho scale" which is the most critical lens with which I grade wherein a 10 is essentially michelin star so-to-speak. This pho gets a 7 which is very good. The broth for me was a little salty but the meat was excellent. That reminds me I gotta rant about this meat cuz it was really really good. The pho got a 6 but the meat elevated it to a 7 for sure.You can really taste how they pride themselves on the meat I loved how the brisket had a smokey quality and I've never gotten more meatballs served to me in a pho "special" although I don't think it came with tendon or tripe. That said, this is probably the best experience for first time pho tryers and for kids! They have lots of Boba tea options and pho is only a little bit of the menu there are lots to try!Overall experience was a 10/10 this isn't just a restaurant it is a total hang out spot like get a drink with your friends and chill super cool kind of place!“

Dynamite roll was fantastic with tempura battered shrimp, signature california roll, sriracha aioli and umami sauce. Hand folded crab wontons with creamy crab filling, bell pepper, green onion and spicy plum sauce was delicious. Coming to entrees, sesame chicken with noodles was my favorite. Crispy honey shrimp with fried rice was good. Miso glazed salmon with brown rice was wholesome and flavorful. Pad thai was fine as I expected little soup poured over it. Coming to desserts, new york style cheesecake and the great wall of chocolate were fantastic.“
