Mexican Restaurants near Hiddenite

“This restaurant is the real hidden gem of Hiddenite, NC! Some friends and I were visiting Emerald Hollow mine, and decided to forgo the cult deli, leaving this as the only other place open for lunch at 3pm.The table salsa was one of the best I've had anywhere - bursting with flavor and a little kick. We tried the guacamole - perfection. The horchata was sublime. I ordered carnitas in verde sauce, which was served with corn tortillas that *had* to be homemade, they were so good. One friend tried the sopes and the other tried the tacos - everything tasted like someone's amazing grandma was running the kitchen. Everything was fresh and as authentic as possible.The service was great, the staff friendly, and the bathrooms were clean. The atmosphere was somewhat lacking - the building was old, tables were cheap and worn, and the interior decor was minimal. Every inch was spotlessly clean. I believe the restaurant mostly provides takeout, and I don't usually go to a taqueria for the atmosphere in any case, so while it rates a "3" on atmosphere for me, that is an utterly unimportant factor in this case.I will absolutely return (4+ hours from my home) just for the food, and I've already been spreading my recommendation to anyone that is likely to travel anywhere near there.“

“My Family and I ate here for the first time the other night. Every time that we drive by the parking lot is full. Friendly staff. Clean restaurant. I had ordered the #14. Beef burritos with cheese sauce with rice. Super delicious! My Husband ordered the #17. Burrito Loco with rice. It was an orgasm in his mouth! He was even dancing while eating! He told me this is his new favorite Mexican restaurant. My Momma ordered the Birria Tacos and she loved it! We highly recommend this restaurant! Super delicious!“

“I finally found something that I actually like to eat here, they're burritos! Well when I order tacos they never put enough goodies on them like you can do in your home. I mean come on you have to charge me for a little extra sour cream, but they all do.“
