Kim's Bake Shop is an artisan bakery and coffee/tea house in Hillsborough. The woman at the counter is super friendly and welcoming. They offer a large vegetarian menu and always have at least 1 gluten-free option. Kids love going there as they get stickers and can color pictures to hang on the wall. The pastries are made with quality ingredients, and while the flavors are punchy and interesting, they are not quite in balance. The tea cakes are extremely moist, and the danishes are flaky. The Ham Jam Tart is highly recommended for being savory and sweet. With a little tweaking, Kim's has the potential to produce baked goods that people will go out of their way for.
