“This was a vacation birthday dinner. My family had a table for 10, and had a fantastic time! We’re sorry it took us so long to try this local favorite. I had a ribeye, medium. My first bites were just the steak—no steak sauce. It was a good quality steak, not over seasoned, and cooked to the right temperature. What made it great was the steak was good quality meat, and it was cooked very well. The live band was fun to listen to in the background, and they did some great covers of some country and rock standards.Kaylee, our server, was amazingly conscientious and very skilled in ways that really enhanced our meal. It really was a pleasure to have her coordinate our meal. Kaylee, thank you.Definitely will go back, especially for what folks say is a great brunch. This is an unpretentious, homey spot in the middle of our little patch of rural NC.Kid-friendliness: Half of our party were kids 6-11. They enjoyed their meals and had a great time, too.“

“Found this place during a business trip to Oxford, NC. Seafood menu that has good variety and very reasonable prices. The hush puppies and cole slaw, brought to the table on arrival, were excellent. The entrees, although cooked well, were underseasoned. The clientele was primarily senior citizens, possibly contributing to the lack of flavor“

“Food was cooked to perfection! Started off with a bloomin onion (which was excellent) then I had a fried scallop platter and my wife ordered the popcorn shrimp platter. We were both beyond pleased with the foods flavor and generous portions they provided. Finished our valentines day lunch with a limited time, made from scratch strawberry shortcake...by far the best cake I have ever had! We left very satisfied with the experience. The service here is impeccable and you can taste the love and passion they put into their craft. Highly reccommend!“

“The food was really good. The establishment was clean. However, the music was a little loud. They did turn it down a little which helped. The wait for the food was lengthy however but, well worth it. I got the big boss platter, deep fried corn and gator bite combo with French fries. My parents got the salmon and shrimp combo with broccoli and corn. “If you want to bypass the fast food locations the Golden Skillet has a huge menu that is made-to-order homemade cooking. They have so many food options. And the price is reasonable.I must confess that the fried gizzard is the best in the state of North Carolina. They have melt-in-your-mouth super tender gizzards that you will not find anywhere else. Most of the food that is offered here you will find at a sit-down restaurant versus a fast food location. I also was amazed at how golden brown and tasty the pork chops were made. The menu is very detailed with their prices.The workers are all nice, attentive and friendly. The dining area is very fresh and clean with great window lighting. This place may look a little old-fashioned but the quality of the service and the food options are delightful.Don’t expect everything to be perfect but for the most part, the majority of the food here is pretty good.Parking: Plenty of parking spots.“
