“We were looking for an Oyster bar while in Swansboro and this was just a short drive away. Friendly service as soon as we opened the door. The hostess guided us to the oyster bar where we had Dillon greet us. He was knowledgeable about the oysters that were being served and had a friendly demeanor while he (and briefly Will who was also just as friendly) shucked and divided the oysters between us. So yummy! Highly recommend a visit here!”

“Food was amazing, We got the grilled Yellowfin tuna sandwich, cucumber tomato salad, grilled shrimp tacos and onion rings. Service was great, but the wait was very long just to place the order, after that food was out in 10 minutes. The atmosphere was very nice. Very limited parking, we kind of just got lucky with a spot.Parking: Very small amount of parking, most of the parking lot is reserved for other businesses in the area.”

“I previously enjoyed TSukiro because of their buffet deal but now will start coming to Bamboo House as their quality of food and service is significantly better. The Sashimi was fresh, ginger salad crisp, and their Kimchi Ramen was perfect! My S/O enjoyed the chicken katsu & highly recommends it. Food came out fast & our server was attentive. I was very appreciative that they swapped out a fish I'm unable to eat on our sashimi plate ( texture issue not allergies). Give it a try & you won’t regret it!”

“Man what not to say. Family owned and family fun. They are great people that make great BBQ. Had the brisket tacos and fries. ALL their dessert ? are to die for. Eclair cake, home made Nanna pudding. Great sausage link or in a bun for a good price. Green beans are like maw maw makes with ham juice. Man just a great place love going in the summer after being on the water all day.Parking: They do offer boat or trailer parking for 10 bucks if the boat ramp is full. Save ya from a 280 dollar ticket .... don't ask how I know hahah.”

Also, a shout out for the free community Thanksgiving dinner that is offered. Yes I said free to anyone. This diner is amazing & very appreciated for those that are far away from their loved ones, Kudos to the entire staff that made such a wonderful Thanksgiving.”

“Popped in here on a cold February night on the island. Immediately the owner spotted us and gave a warm welcome. Throughout the night his attention to guests took center stage. Recognizing almost everyone he was quick to say hi, wave a hand and stop by the table to chat. He definitely made a mark on our visit! At his recommendation we ordered the expresso martini and smoky old fashioned. Both were delicious and followed by more. There was no food service being off season, but we were invited to order from a neighboring restaurant. Soon the owner was serving popcorn hot off the popper to the patrons. Great treat to accompany cocktails. This place has a great local vibe, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the locals will keep Bar 1957 around for a long time. I’ll be there for sure!”

“In addition to the slushies, they have lots of unique homemade (I believe) ice cream flavors. The coconut ice cream was not very coconuty, but the amaretto cherry was so good, and the dark chocolate mudslide one was delicious too. They are also right by the pier, so you can go out to the beach or pier to enjoy your ice cream.”

“Very romantic and polished dining experience. The food was incredible and so was the service! The Osso Buco was incredible and the Quattro Formaggio pasta was delicious as well. Add the calamari for a starter and finish with the cheesecake! Great meal. It’s on the more expensive/fine dining end, though you can wear jeans. There were kids at the restaurant, but I was happy to be dining without kids in a date like atmosphere.”

I was happy to see lots of options for drinks and even more when I saw a protein frappe! I got the salted caramel protein frappe and it was so good! I also got a piece of cheesecake, a cake pop and a cookie for my kiddos! Everything we got was so yummy! Can’t wait to come back and try their bubble tea and maybe some pastries too!!”

“Serving are a little small for the price you pay. But the good and service are definitely well worth going to. Try being a little more friendly and more customer oriented. But the good is top notch and very clean restaurant. Thank you for being that hidden gem in a small town.”
