“Fabulous food, setting and service, always an outstanding experience. Meatball appetizer excellent, pear salad delicious. My wife and I both had the cod entree and were very pleased. Chocolate cake with black currant ice cream phenomenal. Highly recommend, you can't go wrong. Attentive competent service.”
“What a gem! Although we are "regulars" of the Kittery food and drink scene we hadn't made it here until a wintery Friday night. Cozy vibe, extremely friendly, attentive, creative staff. The Bourbon lovers in our crowd praised "A fist in the mouth of time" and "Something for Timmy". The gin drinkers loved "Text me Ishmael" and the tequila lovers loved "Jupiter Jazz". We managed to sample a cocktail created by each of the mixologists working... we coverd a lot of the menu territory but there is still much more to explore. We're definitely coming back. Thanks to the team of talented folks behind the bar.”

“Not terrible. I had the surf and turf with filet and lobster tail. It was not terrible lobster, but it was a little tough which was surprising given the location and the about $80 that the plate costed. The steak was a little better but could have used more flavor. Over-all not bad, but the plate should have been more at a $45 price point relative to its quality. I would say keep the higher price and improve the plate.”

“I cannot say enough about how happy I was that Popovers was closed on Tuesday. My wife and I were originally intending on going there, and needed to find an alternative. We stumbled upon Elephantine. Wow! We walked into this charming little cafe and were transported to Paris. The products looked delicious, and we soon found out that they didn’t only look delicious. The young lady, who was serving us, was exceptionally friendly and added to our pleasure. We ordered a yogurt, with, as I can recall, a pistachio, brittle granola, sliced fruit, honey and so on. We also wanted to just try some of their bread in toast form so I asked if we could order something that wasn’t on the menu. We just ordered some sourdough bread and wanted to have it with butter and jelly. The server promptly made it happen. The food was delivered and all of it was prepared at a very high level. Everything was not only prepared well in terms of ingredients and quality of the food, but it was also cooked/displayed nicely. The medley of food, atmosphere, and music made for the nicest breakfast I have had in a long time. We would recommend this shining star to anyone! The Elephantine is top notch!”

“The absolute attention to detail is something you never knew that you needed in your dining experience until you have had the pleasure of dining at Massimos. The new chef is absolutely stellar. The sommelier is the best in Portsmouth.”

“I have been here several times. And the ambiance is always great. The staff is great. I have had the duck, land, and steak, they were all delicious. The French onion soup is really good. Everything I have ordered here has not disappointed in taste. You can spend $100 on one person with food and drinks. But you should come here for the food and experience not the price if that matters to you.”

“This place is pretty rad. My gf and I were looking for a cool spot for lunch (she's vegetarian, I'm not) and we found this joint. Sat at the bar, our server Lindsey was present but not looming, helpful but not pushy and kinda funny. Cocktail menu seemed new w names like "almost summer" and a solid beer list. The menu is broad enough that there were MANY options for each of us, and the portions were average to large. Whoever said the portions were small needs to stop ordering off the kids menu. Good music that you can recognize but always in the background. Just a cool, funky joint w great food. Eat here.”

“This place was jumping!! Line wrapped fully around the counter and out the door! And their food explains why! From their pastries to their pizza everything was so tasty! We also got this sausage with jalapeño and cheddar cheese wrapped in a melt in your mouth croissant! It was so delicious! I ate all my food before thinking of taking a picture because it was that tasty! oh ya, and don’t forget to try one of their house made crullers!”

“Arrived right on time for a 6 o'clock reservation on a Saturday evening. We were seated promptly and had our cocktail order taken immediately. I had some version of a Manhattan that was very well-made and my wife had the Amethyst Amor'e, also very well done. We started with a cheeseboard, which was very generous, lots of cheese, bread, honey, and candied walnuts. We also tried their deviled egg, very tasty... My wife had the beets and the mussels, which she enjoyed thoroughly. I had their version of the chicken pie, which had some unusual flavors. I'm not quite sure what it was, but it was very good as well. our server, I wish I could remember her name, was very attentive, timing of her visits to our table or perfect. The pacing of when food was delivered, was just as one would hope. Altogether our bill was about $180 not including tip. All in all a really nice experience, given the somewhat limited menu options I'm not sure how soon we'll be back, but I would certainly recommend this restaurant.”

“Decided to try something new with my work crew, and got recommendations that Durbar was great. As soon as I walked in, everyone was super friendly and personable, and the atmosphere was calming and comfortable. The smells and decorations really put me in a good mood and ready to try the food. We ordered a little bit of everything, so we could try as much as possible, and that was without a doubt a great idea because everything (yes everything) was fantastic. Tried all the sides and desserts, and a good variety of the entrees, and my goodness...what a excellent experience, it was legitimately all so delicious, nobody tried anything they didn't like. 100% will be coming back and continuing to spread the word at work because this made our week.Kid-friendliness: While I was there, everyone was very kind and courteous. A younger child came in to pick up some food with her dad and was treated very nicely and respectfully, and engaged with at her level. She seemed super excited to get her rice pudding, and I know why now, it's amazing.”

“Ate lunch with friends on drive home from Logan on our way back home from London. Our first meal back from London is a tough one. The food was fantastic. Had a nice window table with a view of the sparkly water. There was a vent blowing cold air underneath our table, but fortunately the server provided a small mat to cover it up. The cocktails were en pointe and well balanced - not too sweet which we appreciated. Even though we are all seafood lovers, two of the stars of the meal were the buffalo cauliflower ( great sauces and nicely fried- not greasy or soggy) and believe it or not, my daughter’s grilled chicken caesar was also really nicely done on all fronts. We all loved the haddock reuben ( again many nice touches- great cook on the fish, delicious sauces). I already mentioned the drinks. Cocktails were awesome ( we tried 3 different ones from the menu). My chief and probably only complaint would have to be the wine pours. I am spending top dollar on quality food at a respected restaurant- please give me a glass of wine. We spent over 300$ at your establishment, don’t serve me a splash of wine. Rather insulting. Everything else was wonderful. Kitchen staff are doing it right and our server Sierra was great. Bar program - don’t serve skimpy wine pours.”

“Great little chill spot for delicious food. My husband had a burger which he described as juicy and flavorful. I had a ranch chicken sandwich. The chicken was fried to perfection. My son was pleased with his kids meal and the milkshakes made all of us happy. We’ll be back!”

“When I was staying at the Hampton Inn with my Son the included breakfast was awful. I looked up a place nearby for breakfast and saw this gem right down the street. The atmosphere was amazing. Think 50s mixed with 80s and just very "cool" feeling. The food was just as Amazing. The service was also really top tier. The waitress was very attentive and polite and it just felt really good to be there. The vibes were awesome. I will go there again the next time I'm here 100%.”

“Everything was yummy!! Got the suntory sour for a drink and it was great. Was worried about the size of the small plates being bite sized but they were a decent portion. Got the kaarage and okonomiyaki. Got the Nichinan as a roll and it was also excellent”

“Love this place. I'm a regular. A+ across the grid except folks, your tiny napkins are horrible. I have to use about 20 to eat a burger. Do yourselves a favor and profile a decent napkin. If not I'm gonna start bringing my own Viva. You're a burger joint...time to step it up! ?”

“Great place for a fancy night out! The duck was very good and falling off the bone (one piece was a little drier than the other) and the rice with the sauce was definitely top notch. I would highly recommend the brioche donuts for dessert. I still crave more of the donuts ”

“This was our first time at Green Elephant and we can't wait to go back! Finding a restaurant with lots of vegan options is difficult, so when we discover one and it's great, we get excited! We went for lunch, getting there right when they opened and by the time we left an hour and change later, they were completely full. We had an app, the king oyster mushroom tempura, a noodle curry, and a stir fry. All were amazing. The atmosphere was very nice as well. We didn't get any drinks, but they had a really creative cocktail menu - we'll be back for dinner and drinks next time!”

“Excellent Detroit-style pizza. You could tell the dough and sauce were made in-house with good quality ingredients. The only negative: my order took much longer than the anticipated wait time. We would go back.”

“Coffee was pretty good, but it wasn't really "traditional" Turkish coffee. They just poured boiling water over finely ground coffee in the cup they served it in. To charge $3.5 (plus tax + tip) for that is silly. Those who know how to really make a Turkish coffee where cold water and grounds are brought to a boil on a hot surface, know that it takes time and careful attention to make sure it doesn't bubble over, it's not over-extracted, etc. I wouldn't care so much if they didn't have a sign that literally says they make it the traditional way (should have taken a photo to post here). It comes in a nice cup and with a sweet marshmallow-like treat, which is a nice touch. The interior is cool and they have some traditional snacks that are really good. I'd maybe try a drip coffee or something else if I go here again, but I'd skip the "traditional Turkish coffee" unless they start making it properly.”

“Great food. Friendly people.During rush times, take-out takes a smidge to long. Once they ran out of ingredients and sent someone out for them - didn't tell me (waiting) that it would take extra long.”

“From the minute you walk into The Franklin you feel the warmth of the space. The servers are knowledgeable and friendly. We ate everything and it was flippin amazing - I took my sister and her husband here and his eyes lit up when he caught site of the selection of oysters! He still talks about The Franklin and makes me take him there every time they are in town.”
