“A wonderful Portuguese/Brazilian/American fusion cuisine restaurant. A unique dining experience with music and exceptional service. Orlando, the restaurant owner, is a true gentleman; genial and always welcoming. The menu provides unbelievable fare, Saturday especially with feijoada, traditional Brazilian rice and beans experience. I truly wonderful restaurant in our renaissance city of Newark, New Jersey. An unexpected gem. Enjoy.“

“A very large and reasonably priced bakery that also serves great egg and cheese sandwiches on Portuguese rolls. I also tried the egg custard which were super fresh and not overly sweet. Their coffee was also tasted really fresh and delicious. The ladies at the register don't speak English really well so it may take some time to order your food but service otherwise was fantastic. They also have a ton of seating indoors and was pretty clean. Highly recommend!“

“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Envy Bar and Grille and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. The blend of Portuguese and American cuisine on the menu was both unique and delicious. The flavors were a perfect marriage of both cultures. The ambiance of the restaurant was also a standout feature. The cool artwork around the space added a trendy and modern vibe. It was a great place to relax and enjoy a meal.I also want to give a shoutout to our waitress who provided exceptional service throughout our meal. She was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu.Overall, I highly recommend Envy Bar and Grille for anyone looking for a unique dining experience in Newark. The food, atmosphere, and service all exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be returning in the future.Parking: No parking lot for the restaurant. Need to find street parking which depending on the day and time you go -is not a problem.“

“Before Mellencamp concert we dined at Campinos with excellent choice of salmon and filet mignon/chicken/shrimp dinners. Ambiance was wonderful!Only regret was not saving belly space & time to have one of their tempting desserts. We did enjoy a nutty Irish man! (Coffee) And John was a great show!We look forward to another dining experience next time we head to Newark for some culture!Parking: If you go early, you should get a spot.“

“I met a couple of my old coworkers there December 20th after 4 years. I wanted to go to a highly rated family-run place and this establishment didn't disappoint. The burgers, meatloaf and pita wraps were excellent. The owner Vinnie greeted us and seated us, then came by to chat with us. The server was attentive and seemed to like her job. About a 15 - 20 minute walk from the Harrison PATH station. I will be making future visits there with old collegues.“

“My dad first put me on this restaurant by its delicious, fresh takeout food. We'd typically order octopus or whole fish. My parents decided to take us out for our birthday and it was not a disappointment. I felt like I was in Portugal without actually traveling there and it's a home away from home from the moment you walk in.Everyone ordered different entrées and each dish offered a unique, top-quality taste. If you're looking for an authentic Portuguese spot in the Hudson County area, Pic-Nic is your go-to!Vegetarian options: There is a vegetarian option available on the menu.Parking: About 11 or 12 parking spaces and street parking is very difficult given the area.Kid-friendliness: While there is no kids menu, there are few options available for children.Wheelchair accessibility: Whether parked in the lot or on the street, you can easily access the lot, entrance and seating area with a wheelchair.“

“Food was delicious and overall service was great. We had an issue with our bill but the manager handled the situation quickly and was very helpful. Would recommend and will come back next time I am in the area.Parking: They have a small free parking lot for maybe 5-10 cars. Other parking is street meter parking as far as I could tell.“

“I celebrated my sweet 16 at this restaurant, and the food was absolutely incredible. Though it can be a bit pricey, the quality is worth it. The event room comfortably accommodated 7 to 8 tables, which was perfect for our gathering. The bright ambiance, thanks to the large windows, added to the charm. Additionally, having their own parking lot is convenient, although it can occasionally fill up.“

“02.24.24 The interior design of the bar is stunning!!! It flows seamlessly into the dining area which is a 'sea of white tablecloths'. Even the bartender (Costa) paired well with interior space. He was a slightly older gentleman, salt and pepper hair, clean shaven with a crisp white dress shirt and a black tuxedo vest. I started my lunch with a Super Bock Beer and clams casino (3 stars). I chose the stuffed shrimp on a bed of mash potatoes with carrots an broccoli on the side (3 stars). Overall, I had an enjoyable Saturday afternoon lunch and I will definitely return. S.P.“

“I was in the ironbound section of Newark to have my dog groomed when I decided to wander the streets and learn about the neighborhood. I saw that Portugalia Bar & Restaurant was rated well so I thought I'd give it a shot.I sat at the bar and got in a conversation with a local. He recommended I try the chicken and he was spot on! It was spiced just right and tasty, the olives were delicious and the cranberry juice was refreshing. The carbs were too plentiful so I ate them sparingly. The server was friendly and gave great service.Bottom line: This place is a neighborhood gem with fair prices and yummy food. The locals are friendly and down to earth. It's not fancy, but it was what I wanted and a perfect setting to experience the area.“

“The space is small, but this is more of a takeout place. The portions are large and therefore you don't need to make many orders and the food is great. Everything is ready when they tell you it will be. you don't have to wait for your order for too long. I definitely recommend as a quick solution if you don't feel like cooking.“

“I live in the Ironbound, but the prices and quality of food is so much better here. The meat is of excellent quality and the service is great. If you come on a Sunday like I did, get here before 1pm because it gets packed quickly. The place is small but very nice. The parihada for 2, is enough for 3 or 4.“

“Honestly one of the best restaurants I've been to, it seems like a cozy place and highly recommended. And I went on Saturday and Monday, both waitresses treated me very well, they were very friendly and I loved the seafood soup and beef ribs service.“
“The term don't judge a book by its cover, perfectly describes Cafe Avenida. Friends had invited me several times and I was very hesitant based on the restaurants exterior. Doesn't help that NJ's best burger (Krug's) is directly across the street.Wow am I glad I finally tried them out, my T-Bone steak was perfectly grilled medium well. My wife had the grilled Picanha with rice and fresh cut fries. The food was rustically served on wood plates which made the whole experience all the better. Service was on point, very friendly, and we never waited more than a minute to get additional drinks. The server even brought me to thru the kitchen to see the brick oven grill behind the building. Very impressive setup.“

“If you are a fan of Nandos you will like this place! Dont get me wrong, it's not as good but if you want to save yourself the drive to DC. This is a great option. The fries were out of this world! Ask them to put the seasoned salt on them. The chicken had great flavor but i wish it wasn't just a sauce they put on top vs marinating it with it. The other thing that i noticed is you have to buy majority of the menu items separately, which i didn't like too much.“

“I consider myself a connoisseur of Leitao and have to say that this was the best I have eaten in Newark and many other places I have visited. It was tender and crispy and tastefully seasoned. Their shrimp rissois are also amazing along with their coconut cake which are only a few of the things I’ve tried. It’s a must try for sure… Congrats to the owner!“

“Came here for a repast lunch. We ordered from the regular menu. The food is good and they obviously have a happening bar vibe in the evenings. Prices are reasonable and service was good considering we were at least 20 people. There were some hits and misses on some of the dishes but overall a good experience.“

“We ordered catering from North Newark BBQ for a business event, and the food was outstanding. The pork ribs and rotisserie chicken were perfectly cooked and tender, seasoned just right with a flavorful dry rub. We also ordered a seafood platter, which was a big hit! The garlic green sauce paired wonderfully with the freshness of the shellfish. Danny & Cilinha executed my requests flawlessly and delivered everything on time. If you're seeking a unique dining experience, this is the place to go!“

“Always great food. Staff shows all effort, especially if Spanish is not your strength. The bread is amazing. Calamari were hot and fresh, and the sauce is better than at most restaurants. Vegetables are cooked well. Shish kebabs of shrimp, pork, chorizo and steak is big and tasty. The sangria is very good, red or white.“

“Adega Grill is our go-to for special occasions: graduation, birthday, anniversary, etc! The seafood platter is a treat for me and my family of 4! There's enough food for all of us! Tomahawk is a must try, especially to steak lovers out there! Don't forget to order a glass or pitcher of sangria!“
“A converted house with tables and a BBQ in the front yard. Like being in rural Portugal and it might help if you speak a little Portuguese. Hearty homestyle cooking. Mostly grilled meats and fish with some specialities, menu changes every day. Typical Portuguese appetizers, soups, desserts and liquor too. Reasonable prices. I had to think hard about publishing this review because I want to keep it intimate local and almost private, but you deserve this. An archetype dining experience.“

“We ate there for my moms birthday and the attentiveness of the servers was great. Our drinks were never empty and the staff really worked to ensure we had everything we needed, which was no small feat with a party of 11. The food was cooked perfectly and the paella, cabrito, and sword fish were phenomenal. Would definitely recommend.“
“Food is always good to excellent. Good hard working regulars always say hello; many have become good friends. The Portuguese " Cheers" kind of sums it up. Karokee on a Friday or Saturday brings a mix of music from people who just love to sing and to be around good people.“

“First time eating in, we have always order combos to go and first time trying their fish, big portions, descent prices, atmosphere is not the best, parking is a pain, they have 4 spots on the back and their parking lot is share. Eating area could use some TLC but if you are there just for the food you are good to go.“
“Ate here with a group co-workers (total of 8 people) after work on a Tuesday evening. It had a casual atmosphere. The food was excellent starting from the appetizers all the way down to the dessert! The calamari and the shrimp during the appetizer was on point. The sauce on the shrimp was great dipping for the bread. For the Entree the seafood pasta was fresh and a generous serving portion for 5-6 people alone in 1 serving. We also had the picadinho, which was my favorite- excellent... not too greasy! And had a good portion of salad with steak. Then we each had a serving of different desserts that we shared- flan, chocolate mousse, tiramisu, cheesecake, and some pudding. All were delicious but my favorite were the flan and chocolate mousse. As for the drinks, we had a 2 pitchers of the red sangria and my friends had their beer from tap from their little waterfall grotto... it was so cool! We were all seated in the patio at the back of the restaurant which had a great breeze from outside on a nice summer temperature... our day happened to be rainy which was relaxing to see and hear from where we were seated. All in all the service was prompt and excellent from our waitress Rose. The owner happen to be in there during our visit and was very friendly and accomodating. And if you're in doubt just for the parking alone, there's a private parking lot in the back of the restaurant. Would reccomend this place and would come back again with family and friends!“

“What a great little spot food was yummy we had the clams in the garlic sauce to start which was nicely cooked. I then had the grilled swordfish which was juicy and yummy. Very chill environment with a pleasant and accommodating staff. Read online the ownership changed recently and wish them the best of luck the only downside was parking but one of the joys of Kearny unfortunately.“

“Ordered some nice meat for delivery, so I can really only comment on the food here. Okay, and the delivery. Super quick. When I ordered, it said 45-60 minutes for the food to be prepared (as a standard message), and then told me delivery would take 45-60 minutes. Does that mean I'm waiting 90+ minutes for food? Nope, it came to the door in 40 minutes tops. Great job. As for the food: We've got the meats! I can say that most of the meat was a bit overdone, but it was made fresh and then delivered, so that will keep the meat cooking and I fully acknowledge that. The sausage was excellent. The wings were skimpy and not really worth it. The chicken and steak were both flat and thus both faster to cook. Meat overall was a bit chewy and tough, but again, that's upon delivery. I really liked the flavor, and they did include a nice spicy hot sauce at my request. Verdict: Will need to go back in person to try this out!“
