“I've lived in this area for almost a decade, but had not yet found Latin food that could compare to what I had growing up in Union City and when I lived in the city and visited Washington Heights. Until now, that is! Surrender Cafe recently became available on DoorDash. I had never heard of it, but was drawn by the great reviews, tempting photos of the food, and many of my favorites on a menu with lots of my favorites. This is the first time I've ever ordered from a place, and then immediately again the next day. I especially love that so many of their dishes are available in smaller portions. Want to try the mofongo? Here's the mofonguitos! And meat-only portions can be had of just about everything in small, medium or large sizes, which made it easy for me to sample the beef and chicken guisado, red and black beans, pernil, so I ordered the bistec ecebollado for my main dish. Everything, absolutely everything is delicious, and arrived well packaged. Oh - and I almost forgot - the tres leches! Absolutely top notch. Not only some of the best Latin food I've ever had, but some of the best comfort food I've ever had, period.“

“This was my first time visiting this location and dining in. Mauricio took care of us and provided excellent & polite service. We have ordered for take out before and the food is always amazing! Today we had the lunch special and don’t skimp out on the serving sizes. Inside the restaurant it is very clean, modern decor, and you feel very welcomed. I would recommend anyone to visit or order from this location, you won’t be disappointed. ?“

“Their food is amazing, staff is always attentive and they make sure the sangria is always full and you have enough warm bread to go around. They have really nice party rooms and the staff for parties is always great as well.Parking: It’s hard to find parking but there is a large lot on the other side of the road that you may use with a short walk to restaurant.“

“Came in on a Friday with my brother and so happy to see my favorite bartender Jimmy. He went out of his way to make sure I had a sample of the seafood salad to make sure I liked it. The guacamole was some of the best I have ever had !! I don’t even like burritos but stole a bite of my boyfriends and it was sooooo good! “So I stumbled on this place and decided to try it because I was starving. I must say the gentleman that helped me had excellent customer service skills, was funny, courteous and helpful, the food came out pretty quickly, the environment and was clean but more importantly the food was great. Definitely would recommend it and would be ordering from here more often. The only thing i would change is having Portuguese rolls instead of sliced bread.“
