“I walking into this restaurant looking for a quick but fresh lunch. The space was very clean and orderly. The staff is attentive and personable. I ordered a burrito with pernil, corn salsa, pickled red onions and cheese. As a side, I got the chickpea and cucumber salad. I really have to say I was very impressed with the freshness and flavor of the food without being over seasoned. Next time I will remember to write a review before I devour all the food. ?“

“I've lived in this area for almost a decade, but had not yet found Latin food that could compare to what I had growing up in Union City and when I lived in the city and visited Washington Heights. Until now, that is! Surrender Cafe recently became available on DoorDash. I had never heard of it, but was drawn by the great reviews, tempting photos of the food, and many of my favorites on a menu with lots of my favorites. This is the first time I've ever ordered from a place, and then immediately again the next day. I especially love that so many of their dishes are available in smaller portions. Want to try the mofongo? Here's the mofonguitos! And meat-only portions can be had of just about everything in small, medium or large sizes, which made it easy for me to sample the beef and chicken guisado, red and black beans, pernil, so I ordered the bistec ecebollado for my main dish. Everything, absolutely everything is delicious, and arrived well packaged. Oh - and I almost forgot - the tres leches! Absolutely top notch. Not only some of the best Latin food I've ever had, but some of the best comfort food I've ever had, period.“

“This was our first time trying Pollo Campero in the U.S. and was really blown away on how delicious it taste like back home in Guatemala.The Yuca fries are to die for. They are soft, moist, and crispy on the outside.The chicken was delicious and juicy.Our order came out as expected. The chicken was extra fresh out the oil.The staff here were very welcoming and helpful.The restaurant is clean, especially the two bathrooms (you will need a code from the cashier to unlock the bathroom doors), and quiet.This is located in a busy area but there is parking at the back of the restaurant!I highly recommend stopping here to grab some fresh chicken to eat!“

When it was time to pay the check, I noticed their new pay system had already added a 15% tip to the bill. I think tipping should ALWAYS be the discretion of the patron. Because my server was great, I didn't have a problem paying the 15%. I wonder if her tip is shared. FYI, you can change the tip amount at the register, but ya'll need to pay attention.Food at this diner is always yummy. The staff is great and at my visit they were on top of everything. “I have gotten a few different empanadas since working in the neighborhood from Angie's and they are so good!! I tried the chicken stew yesterday, which I asked for with yellow rice, black beans, and plantains and it did not disappoint. It was flavorful, filling, and all cooked perfectly. The prices aren't too bad too. The only thing I would ask for is better containers- I ordered takeout and the liquid from the chicken stew almost spilled out of the container all over my outfit! Otherwise I will be getting this at least once a week!!“
“Delicious, affordable, and consistent. I recommend the fried fish and the traditional sides are always great. Make sure you get the spicy pickled onions. Sometimes they ask if you want it and sometimes they don't but you should always get it. Also, if you are sitting down or not in a rush, order the empanadas. They are made fresh and VERY GOOD.“
