“First off, hats off to the chef. So far I've tried the chaufa de camarones (Shrimp), chaufa de mariscos (mixed seafood),and their Rotisserie Garlic Chicken (I ordered 3 whole birds for a party I had and they were a hit). The food is very good, so far; bordering excellent. The portions on the chaufas were plenty; 2 people could easily share, 3 or 4 if you have something else on the side. We also ordered papas a la huancaina and maduros which were also good and enough to share for 4 people (we were 3 on Sunday). My sis n law had the churrasco which she said was very good. The atmosphere is clean, had about 8 to 10 tables and was welcoming. The only thing that management should watch for was that the prices on the menu were not what we were charged; they were about $2 to $3 more per main dish. The extra charge wasn't a big deal but it is worth mentioning as someone else may not brush it off. We plan on going back to try more of their dishes!“
“So I’ve been wanting to try the food from here for a couple years now but since it was a couple towns over I always just stuck with local Spanish spots. Well my favorite spots got shut down and I decided today was the day I’d finally order and it did not disappoint!!! I ordered the following : empanada de carne (beef), rellenos de papa (stuffed potato balls), a dessert guava and cheese empanada, the arroz con gandules (yellow rice and pigeon peas) with pernil (roasted pork) and the trifongo with pernil. This all hit the spot I was hoping it would! Also friendly staff. Whoever took my order over the phone was patient and nice. She told me it would be about an hour and food got here in less than that. Will def be ordering again!“
“Came here for lunch. Tacos were amazing. Meaty the ingredients were fresh. The salsa was perfectly spicy hehe. Place is quite small perfect for on the go or quick bites. “I've lived in this area for almost a decade, but had not yet found Latin food that could compare to what I had growing up in Union City and when I lived in the city and visited Washington Heights. Until now, that is! Surrender Cafe recently became available on DoorDash. I had never heard of it, but was drawn by the great reviews, tempting photos of the food, and many of my favorites on a menu with lots of my favorites. This is the first time I've ever ordered from a place, and then immediately again the next day. I especially love that so many of their dishes are available in smaller portions. Want to try the mofongo? Here's the mofonguitos! And meat-only portions can be had of just about everything in small, medium or large sizes, which made it easy for me to sample the beef and chicken guisado, red and black beans, pernil, so I ordered the bistec ecebollado for my main dish. Everything, absolutely everything is delicious, and arrived well packaged. Oh - and I almost forgot - the tres leches! Absolutely top notch. Not only some of the best Latin food I've ever had, but some of the best comfort food I've ever had, period.“
