“Step into McGillin’s Olde Ale House and you’re stepping into a piece of Philadelphia history. This beloved tavern, the oldest continuously operating pub in the city, has been pouring pints and serving up hearty fare since 1860. It’s a place where the clink of glasses and the buzz of conversation blend into a symphony of conviviality. Here, friends gather to enjoy a wide selection of regional beers and classic American-Irish pub grub in an atmosphere that’s as warm and welcoming as the staff. Whether you’re there to catch a game, celebrate with a group, or simply soak in the old-world charm, McGillin’s promises an experience that’s both timeless and spirited. So, raise a glass at McGillin’s, where every visit is a toast to tradition and good times! ?“
“This is clearly a local watering hole. Wasn't very crowded for a weekday lunch, but food was good and service was prompt. The only thing I personally didn't like was the menu seemed a little limited, but that's a personality thing.“
“Great location to avoid chain restaraunts! An Irish pub on a corner in residential area of Fairmount. Traditional fare and one of the best pours of Guinness in the area! Our favorite was Donegal fries (image shown). Even the regular fries that came with our meals beyond expectations! Looking forward to return!“
“Sorry for the dramatics in advance, but it is seldom that I can truly give a restaurant 5 stars for food alone. This pub is always a joy to visit for the ambiance, service, blah blah blah, but the bangers and mash here are something worth raving about. The perfect balance of umami, acidity, and the flavors of herbs… it is just superb. Not to mention they make a strong cocktail ? 5 STARS“
“Bonners is a great place for the entire family. Yes it’s true in the evening it’s also a great place for college parties which often happen and that’s a great thing too. But in the early evenings and other times it’s a great family oriented restaurant and bar. When you go there they make you feel as if you’re part of some thing. Food is good everything from basic pub fare like fish and chips and shepherds pie, hamburgers etc. They’ll make you whatever drinks you like! If you’re in the area of 23rd and Sansom and you’re looking for a neighborhood establishment this is a great choice!“
“I actually do not usually do restaurant reviews, but was so please with Con Murphy that I felt like I had to share. I feel like there are many restaurants in Philly, and this one deserves more attention. We were day-tripping Philly and enjoy seeking out the local Irish pubs. We were charmed by the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere! It was noisy and small, in a fun and happy way. The TWO bars were well-stocked. We came with the family and everyone was pleased. We started with the Parmesan Truffle French Fries and they were exemplary especially paired with the Aeoli. The blackened Grouper sandwich was "sublime" according to my son who works at a restaurant! My daughter didn't prefer the crust thinness of the flatbread, but enjoyed the potatoe soup. The Irish fare was well done. My son ordered the shepard's pie and my husband and I both ordered the beef stew. I am picky of "Irish Food" bc so many places do not give it the attention it deserves, but everything was prepared beautifully. If you like very rich, decadent broths and hearty, meaty portions, then the stew is for you. The bread it was served with was unbelievably flavorful and had a tender center and crusty exterior. The stew tasted like it had slow-cooked for hours and did not dissapoint. I ordered the "Tullamore Gold" cocktail and it was a tad sweet, but flavorful. I wish I had paired a red wine or whisky with the stew. My husband had a canned apple cider which was tasty.“
“Curran’s makes some of the best wings in Philadelphia & they have for years! Excellent atmosphere & service! There is both indoor & outdoor seating! Great place to take in a game & grab drinks with friends! 10/10 would highly recommend!“
“Was here for dinner last night. Our very nice server recommended the Caesar salad w/hanger steak and it was excellent. The Guinness was poured perfectly. My friend enjoyed his French Dip sandwich and he is not easily pleased. There are ample TVs to watch the games and there was a full crowd of patrons and a good vibe.“
“Stopped in for a quick bite. Quick seating, great service from the bar staff at the high tops. Loved the French onion soup. Just what I needed to take the off the cold of the night. Solid pours, good music. What you'd expect from the name, honestly. Place starting filling with a younger bar crowd about 9:30.“
“A Philadelphia & South Street landmark, family owned & run for half a century, this place has so many fun activities or just sit & enjoy a diverse, exciting beer list. Great food & excellent friendly service round out your experience.“
“Small little Irish bar downtown. It's narrow, but there is a second floor with a pool table and dart board for your enjoyment. The service is efficient and friendly. If you're looking for a laid back place to grab a pint, stop by.“
“It's a pretty pretty good happy hour with half off drinks. But last time I was there the bartender took so long to give me my check that I left a five and walked out. I hope I left enough. Oh well if I get banned, there are so many other bars that I won't be disappointed.“

“Great Irish pub! I've gone there numerous times. I've enjoyed the Mac& cheese, Chili, Fish& chips, Roast Beef sandwiches along with their certified pour Guinness pint. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is happy.Parking: The parking lot is in the rear and has about 25 spots but I've not had trouble parking for lunch.Wheelchair accessibility: There's an ADA ramp from the parking lot but there's only 1 handicap parking spot.“
“..I'll just say that I'm always pleasantly surprised at how solid the food is here for how inexpensive this place is. I appreciate this business and restaurant. The St Pattys day fare we had here just a week before was so satisfying as well. (pics to be posted) 1st spring season in the neighborhood. So far, so good keep up the great work. Will continue to bring my friends and family here and spreading the good word.“
“Some of the best wings in the city. Decent selection of beer. Golden Monkey is on tap here for $5! You can’t beat that. Great bartenders. Very welcoming atmosphere. Decent pool tables to shoot on. Not the best, but certainly not the worst. They’re a bar, they’re pretending to be a pool hall. If you’re around the area & want to eat great wings, shoot a little pool & drink a little this is definitely the place for you.Parking: Parking is a little difficult here if you can’t find a spot in front of the bar, there are plenty of spots down the road. It is all street parkingKid-friendliness: It is a restaurant but they are bar forward. The bartenders & servers are great with kids but just be aware that you’re in a bar & may hear music with curses & people cursing while watching a game, drinking at the bar or shooting pool. It can get packed when it is busy.“
“It was a Thursday wing night, we sat upstairs because it was so crowded, service was good.Food was great, I was able to have food from the fryer which never happens with a shellfish allergy due to cross contamination of friers.Nadia tots and a bacon burger were great. I like that they were not frozen burgers but freshly made.“
