“My son and I stopped in on Thursday of last week, on a whim, after picking up some items from the dollar store a few doors down. I had heard good things about the food, from my friend, who owns Pro Braids next to Irvington Post Office. My son ordered a turkey and cheese sub. He is a picky eater( with new restaurants). “Had the pleasure of stopping into Iorio Deli with friends Eric from Cultinary Road Trip and Tyler from Foodula. Had the chance to meet “The Boss” Gilda and her son Joe as well as the rest of the very friendly and helpful staff here. We tried a plethora of things so this may take a minute haha.Started off with two stuffed breads - A Reuben as well as a Pepperoni roll. The Reuben had a great flavor and the bread itself was tasty. It was slightly odd in my mind to eat a Reuben without grilled rye, but I enjoyed this. The pepperoni stuffed bread was also good and was even better with the addition of some sauce (they called it gravy and I thought I was in trouble haha).After that we were hit with some delicious Italian items including their house made meatballs, Italian sausage and peppers, and chicken Parmesan. The meatballs were just rated #1 in Central Jersey and #2 in the entire state of NJ at the Pizza Bowl a few months back. I could see why. Very tender, perfectly seasoned, and again that sauce/gravy was killer. To be honest though, I may have enjoyed the sausage even more! I mentioned how I didn’t get hit with that typical overwhelming pop from fennel seed and Joe said they make it with ground fennel so the flavor is still there but it’s not so in your face. I loved, and I mean loved, this sausage. The chicken parm was also very good but I had a small piece because I knew what was coming next!We finished off by trying two sandwiches that Iorio is well known for. The first was “The Jocelyn” which was a roast beef and Swiss melt on an onion roll, and the second was “The Sloppiest Joe” which was a North NJ staple “sloppy joe” but in epic proportions. The Jocelyn had good flavor and the onion roll was a nice touch and change of pace. The sloppiest Joe is sitting inside the top 3 I’ve had probably ever. The meats were freshly sliced and piled high, the rye was super fresh, and the Cole slaw had get flavor and added welcomed creaminess to the sandwich.As if there was any doubt at all - Iorio Deli in Roselle Park, NJ - Didn’t Suck!“

“Wow! Had lunch there. The hot pastrami is delicious, you can't finish a whole sandwich it's soooo large! They make their own breads which are huge! They taste incredible. Then I got some Krischicky to take home. Boy, was that good with a cup of coffee. Go enjoy a nice lunch or pick up one of their great foods made for dinner. Will be going back soon. “The food here is spot on. Very good sandwiches. Reasonable prices. The salads get overlooked which are very good, but get your dressing on the side or it will be mushy. Nice atmosphere overall. The neighborhood kids come and all the staff are real nice to them and it has the 3rd spaces feel of old school spots where you could hang. My biggest gripe is that their line system makes no sense. They make you wait to place you order. They could just switch to a ticket system. The old guy gets grumpy when new customers don't understand their silly system and he is kind of a jerk about it. Also it would be nice if they had an online presence but I understand not giving greedy Uber eats 25% of your ticket. I'm not criticizing them there.“

“These are the BEST quesabirria tacos I have EVER had! They taste like home ?? tacos come with cheese and a very delicious consume. It was not too salty nor too watery, but a perfect consistency. The carne was seasoned to perfection, and it was a nice amount. They were not cheap with the portions! You get 3 nice big tacos.This is definitely a Hidden Gem in the East Coast ! You walk in and aside from the squad of friendly workers at both main counters you'll first encounter the amazing breads (and treats). All the shapes, styles and sizes your carb-loving heart desires will be found on one of these racks. Expertly made... dense, sturdy, flavorful, with a mighty crust (that'll give your Fixodent a workout!). Take a few steps towards the 'back' and now you're at the deli and it's overflowing with options. Each item looks bewitching and alluring and before you can even finish saying, "A pound of..." - somehow it's already sliced and bagged and the guy is waiting on the next item you need. (Maybe it's that luscious square of eggplant parm that they've intentionally left "posed" on top of the spatula or the Italian hot dog platter or that mountain of sauteed broccoli rabe that you know it's going to have that perfect 'bite'.) “Once in awhile you come across a business owner who takes enormous pride in their products, and makes them as though they are making it for their own family. I called Cioffi's and got Jerry the owner, who helped make my friend's birthday extra special by honoring my request for a heart-shaped pizza to be delivered to his house on his birthday. Jerry was in on it from the moment I explained what I wanted, as excited and joyful about the surprise as I hoped our friend would be! He was excited about our idea, excited for my friend, and excited to play his part in the whole thing. He even sent me texts as he was preparing it and just before he gave it to the delivery guy. Krauszer's has a few locations across Newark, but this particular one is my favorite. Why? Because it's never busy and the workers are all very courteous. I have never had anything I didn't like here, though we love the pierogi's, especially the sauerkraut and mushroom, the kielbasa and kolbanosi, and the cabbage rolls (golumbki, halupki, Toltott Kaposzta etc..). We even recently bought sliced ham (like for sandwiches) and it was amazing, think sliced ham from your holiday ham, not the over processed stuff at the grocery store deli counter. “Great polish food. I live 45min away and stop here for pierogis whenever in the area. From potato and cheese, to mushroom and even blueberry these are all best around.
