“Went here for a birthday celebration and everything was good EXCEPT service group can our to sing happy birthday and presented a slice of cake which was nice but we had NO IDEA it was going to be added to our bill. We did not ask for the dessert. It would have been nice to know. That was surprising.“

There are several other restaurants in the area but they do not compete AT ALL. I have experienced horrible service from the other restaurants where they treat you differently if you do not speak their language. El Roble is friendly to people of ALL backgrounds and is newly renovated as well as their bar!!! Drinks are delicious!! Food is immaculate!! Service is phenomenal!! I would recommend the Shancocho beef soup for starters, it is delicious!!“

“I've lived in this area for almost a decade, but had not yet found Latin food that could compare to what I had growing up in Union City and when I lived in the city and visited Washington Heights. Until now, that is! Surrender Cafe recently became available on DoorDash. I had never heard of it, but was drawn by the great reviews, tempting photos of the food, and many of my favorites on a menu with lots of my favorites. This is the first time I've ever ordered from a place, and then immediately again the next day. I especially love that so many of their dishes are available in smaller portions. Want to try the mofongo? Here's the mofonguitos! And meat-only portions can be had of just about everything in small, medium or large sizes, which made it easy for me to sample the beef and chicken guisado, red and black beans, pernil, so I ordered the bistec ecebollado for my main dish. Everything, absolutely everything is delicious, and arrived well packaged. Oh - and I almost forgot - the tres leches! Absolutely top notch. Not only some of the best Latin food I've ever had, but some of the best comfort food I've ever had, period.“

“The food is soooo good! Come with very large portion! We ordered Churrasco ( grilled steak), with come fires, avocado salad, and a lot of rice. The seafood soup is a bit salty, but my partner loves it’s thicker texture. The guy who picked up the call is very caring, he texted us to confirm the order when signal is very bad. “This diner's service is always great. I think there is so much to choose from it can be intimidating. When it was time to pay the check, I noticed their new pay system had already added a 15% tip to the bill. I think tipping should ALWAYS be the discretion of the patron. Because my server was great, I didn't have a problem paying the 15%. I wonder if her tip is shared. FYI, you can change the tip amount at the register, but ya'll need to pay attention.Food at this diner is always yummy. The staff is great and at my visit they were on top of everything. There is someone ready to clear your plate if you're done. Our server was attentive. Making sure if we needed anything else during our meal.Kid-friendliness: They have paper placemats for kids to doodle while waiting for their meal.“

“Solid spot for empanadas around the area. They were juicy and tasty with the sauce they provide. Depending on the empanadas, they range around $3 which is pretty decent for the size of the empanada. Workers were really nice and told us all the empandas they had and what the empandas had inside. We bought 6 empanadas and the cashier gave us a free drink with that. Which I thought was really kind for them to do. Overall, I would come back here whenever I am around the area and try the other foods they have.“

“Andrea C. Was Amazing!!! She was so attentive and very easy to work with. My Spanish is not so great, yet she made me feel like it was no problem at all!!! She brought out EVERYTHING I asked for and never hesitated to check on me multiple times. I loved that she made me feel like I was at home regardless of the language barrier!!! “This was our first time trying Pollo Campero in the U.S. and was really blown away on how delicious it taste like back home in Guatemala.The Yuca fries are to die for. They are soft, moist, and crispy on the outside.The chicken was delicious and juicy.Our order came out as expected. The chicken was extra fresh out the oil.The staff here were very welcoming and helpful.The restaurant is clean, especially the two bathrooms (you will need a code from the cashier to unlock the bathroom doors), and quiet.This is located in a busy area but there is parking at the back of the restaurant!I highly recommend stopping here to grab some fresh chicken to eat!“

This has to be the best place I've been to for Chicharron, the pork is perfectly cooked, crackly and crispy pork skin and juicy tender meat. The flavor and crunch is perfectly enjoyed by my family with some tortillas and salsa picante. Some Chicharron tacos. Besides the Chicharron we have also gotten other food but I would only return again for that Chicharron.Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is floor level and has no steps, perfect for wheelchair access.“

“This chicken is absurdly good. As a latino, it strikes a great balance between home-cooked taste, but with the consistency of a fast food chain. It's EXPENSIVE. Only go there to treat yourself or if your wallet allows. In general, the bowl is the best value. The price of 2 pieces and a side is robbery, but damn it's good. Empanadas are better than most but not as authentic. Chicken is great, and the sweet plantains are legit. When dining in, I feel you get the best experience with their real plates and diner/restaurant-style service.“

“I really liked this restaurant! My party tried the calamari, ropa vieja, vaca frita, chicken, and two mojitos. Everything was flavorful and the portion sizes matched the price. The only difficult or confusing thing was the parking situation. There was advertised valet parking next to the restaurant for $15, so I chose a nearby public parking deck and walked over. However, walking out I saw there were also Park Mobile spots out back that weren’t advertised as well. Lastly, if you’re there on a Friday or Saturday night, they have a 2 hour limit for each table.“

Where the music is playing just loud enough to make you dance in your seat. But not so loud where you can't enjoy the conversation with your date.You can sit at the bar or dinning room. TVs align the walls. You can catch the latest sporting event. Don't see the game you are looking for. Ask one of the friendly managers. They will be happy to look for it and put it on for you.Talking about the bar. They serve the latest and trendiest drinks. The bar tenders and wait staff are on point. Everyone is super friendly and go out of thier way to make you feel at home.The place is really busy on the weekends. “I have gotten a few different empanadas since working in the neighborhood from Angie's and they are so good!! I tried the chicken stew yesterday, which I asked for with yellow rice, black beans, and plantains and it did not disappoint. It was flavorful, filling, and all cooked perfectly. The prices aren't too bad too. The only thing I would ask for is better containers- I ordered takeout and the liquid from the chicken stew almost spilled out of the container all over my outfit! Otherwise I will be getting this at least once a week!!“

“I was at a local school and walked here for lunch after finding it on Google. The service was impeccable! I ordered the classic Dominican dish, "Tres Golpes" aka Three Hits and was super satisfied. I offered to pay but was told to eat my lunch first and deal with the bill later. I appreciated that.When I saw that the eggs were slightly runny, the young lady gladly took them back and recooked them. The place was filled with some old timers who were cracking jokes and enjoying each other's company as Jose Luis Rodriquez played in the background. One of the workers sat by me and ate his lunch. It was a really cool and laid back, old-school vibe as if I was having a meal in Santo Domingo. I will return again.“
