“Let me say their food is spectacular. The best soulfood i ever tasted, BUT !! The ambiance and accommodations aren't so great, Take out is suggested. Their bathroom isn't up to part in only one bathroom for men or women . The food service was ok as well ,but if you're dining in, they give you plastic spoons , ketchup packages, and Tartar sauce packages .A lot of food was limited on Sunday like salmon bites,no ribs, etc ,They give free refills on the house , Then there's a bakery next door which connects to this facility PLEASE YOU MUST TRYParking: There is not a lot of parking, depending on what time you show up you will have to Double park“
“So glad to be able to eat out without wondering if my card & food us being tampered with. We gotvthis referral from a friend..the Gilliams..So glad we had mentioned going out to eat. Its a small but place that hold up to 24 in the front but their back room appears to hold another 24 equipped with 2 long tables. The host was very warm & nice. They had a guest that was waiting for his food & it looked delicious when delivered...Fried fish & potatoesalad...It was a quiet night not a lot going on just the game playing & staff. Food came not a long wait but that was ok because my husband wanted his Catfish hot and it was with a really light fluffy waffle. I had the Turkeywings, lima beans, mac& cheese. cornbread. Waiter did allow hubby to same bleackeyepeas & Lima beans and he really enjoyed that. We look forward tovreturning.. Our host was able to give us a tour & Back history as to how of this came about..So happy for them with balancing out life which can be hard at times..But Jeh makes makes it possible when you take him into consideration of any plans...Hope to see you all soon with many more friends...“

“For starters, let me just state that this was my first time ever eating African food. I had okra, white rice, and debie. This eatery was highly recommended by a friend, and it was delicious. However, the person cooking was really unpleasant when I returned alone one day, and I nearly decided not to return even though I was really craving it. I returned to give it one last try, and I'm glad I did because I visit this place nearly every week. The individual I interacted with during this interaction was really kind and supportive. I haven't tried anything else on the menu, but the white rice and okra combination is AMAZING. The best part is that there is a lot of food and it is quite reasonably priced.“

The catfish was well seasoned and everything was so good I went back today with a guess from out of Town who had the smothered with the Biscuit ,I had the grits with scrambled eggs and cheese AGAIN I had the catfish it had the same consistency.. which is great.. My desire for this Black owned establishment is to stay true to the root of your food often what happens is that businesses get great insight and reviews and then a year or two years in everything changes with the taste which I've seen too much .. “I met Chef Mo in Restaurant Depot. She told me about her restaurant in Newark. I told her I would visit the following week. The food at The Weekend Spot was excellent.... I am a New Yorker and we love food. I had the Mac and cheese, Collard greens, Jasmine rice, black beans, potatoe salad, fried chicken and Oxtail stew..... I don't think there's a place representing soul food culture like this in Philadelphia or New York City. Staff and owner were extremely warm and accommodating. Generous and tasty portions. “Attention African Americans. Momma's Place Soul Food Retaurant of Linden, N.J. is the place to go if you want real SOUL FOOD. This is your southern grandma's soul food. Everything there is delicious. The fried whiting was flaky and luscious, the fried chicken was succulent and juicy, the smothered pork chops were flavorful and tender, the apple pie was (made from scratch) exquisite and the pound cake was truly delectable. And... that corn bread was.... oh so good! The food is first quality and it was freshly prepared. The portions were big and the prices are really good! Everything was seasoned the way we southerners are used to it. The restaurant was clean, (the bathroom was 'bleach' clean), and on top of all this positivity, the service was friendly and attentive.
