They’re the only ones selling slab bacon… I’ve had everything on the menu but my favorites are the smothered chicken and smothered pork chops, fried pork chops, collards, string beans, all the beans, Mac and cheese,, well just about everything on the menu lol. “This was my first time at Kings and it won’t be my last. I ordered takeout earlier today and Angela was so friendly and welcoming. I’ve never had smothered turkey chops before. They were UH-MAZE-ING!!! The catfish was nicely seasoned and the fried chicken was crispy and juicy. The potato salad was the best I’ve ever had except for my mama’s. And I can’t stop eating that pineapple coconut cake.“
“For starters, let me just state that this was my first time ever eating African food. I had okra, white rice, and debie. This eatery was highly recommended by a friend, and it was delicious. However, the person cooking was really unpleasant when I returned alone one day, and I nearly decided not to return even though I was really craving it. I returned to give it one last try, and I'm glad I did because I visit this place nearly every week. The individual I interacted with during this interaction was really kind and supportive. I haven't tried anything else on the menu, but the white rice and okra combination is AMAZING. The best part is that there is a lot of food and it is quite reasonably priced.“

“I went with a diverse party of 10 and we were treated like we were at home. Excellent halal soul food, felt like down home southern cooking. I don't think there's a place representing soul food culture like this in Philadelphia or New York City. Staff and owner were extremely warm and accommodating. Generous and tasty portions. Highly recommend.“
“My mom loves catfish, so for her last night visiting Newark, we decided to try Just Fish since it's close by. Even though they had 2 parties going on, Gary made sure we were taken care of. Everything was delicious, and everyone was helpful and pleasant.“
“Tried this cornbread in Newark. I must say the food was fresh and very tasty. The workers were friendly and they all did a great job. After visiting the Maplewood store I was turned off because the service and food in Maplewood was horrible. But with a lot of convenseing from my daughter in love. I tried the one in Newark and am very please with portion size and freshness. I will return when I back down in Newark again.“
