I always order it in advance and then walk to pick it up and the guys in there are always super friendly. “I have eaten here a few times and I always come away impressed. This is not your typical boring Italian American red sauce joint that is in every town in NJ. This place actually tries to cook food like you would get in Italy. Fresh ingredients are the star here and nothing is drown in sauce. They have a few Italian American classics like an excellent Chicken Parm but will also serve you a perfect Mediterranean swordfish as well. I got the ragú as my main meal and loved it, and the cabbage/shrimp appetizer was what especially surprised us with its flavor. We got the bruschetta, meatballs, smoked ricotta cavetelli and spaghetti carbonara. Everything was delicious and exceeded our expectations. The one thing I'll say is we never got a text letting us know our order was ready but maybe I misunderstood that that was supposed to happen. Both past dishes were flavorful and delicious. The owner was a delight to speak to and his staff was very kind and attentive. They were able to make accommodation for me (dairy free) and provided recommendations. The table came with bread and a spread. It was fantastic! We ordered pappardelle bolognese - wow so good! The pasta tasted so fresh! You can tell it was house made. We also ordered a sandwich to split. We packed half of it up, as we were so full. The portions are huge. Very happy with this place and very excited for my rehearsal dinner in November, but I'll be back sooner for sure. My mother in law wants to try it with how highly we spoke about it!“

I haven't tried any of their bakery items and have always gotten my food to-go but they do have a wide selection of foods from every category, and have ample seating available for those wishing to dine in. Parking is a little weird as the shop is at the top of a hill, and the area tends to be swarmed with police cars. But the lot is big enough you won't have any trouble getting a spot. If you're looking for a sandwich recommendation, listen to what all the reviews are saying and try to the eggplant - you won't be disappointed. It isn't even just the eggplant, all the ingredients come together well. The mozzarella is extremely fresh too. They also have several other spreads and toppings you can substitute or add on if you wish if you prefer to customize your sandwich. Price might seem a little high for a sandwich, but the portion size makes up for it, and to be honest it's pretty in line with competitors.“

“The food here is DELICIOUS! We didn't have a reservation (this place books fast apparently, so make one!) but were kindly seated in between reservations. The bread in the beginning with olive oil was perfect, drinks were delicious and the main event was amazinggggg. Get the chicken parm!! This is the Italian restaurant you go to when you want a filling and flavorful Italian meal. The decor inside was lackluster but am looking forward to dining outside when it gets warmer out under the pretty lights.“

We almost had the table at the entry door next to the pianist. How would anyone like being seated there...cold and loud. Thankfully we took a table in the back of the restaurant. “My family held a surprise birthday party for my father at Il Monello and it was the best decision we could have made. The owner and staff were so easy to work with to plan the party and were very accommodating of our 24-person group. On the day, the food and service were superb - I heard from a few family members that it was the best Italian meal they’d had in a while. “I think this is my second or third review of Azzurro. My wife and I live in the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania and drive 42 miles to Peapack at least twice a month (although this week we were there twice) to dine at the best Mediterranean/Italian restaurant in N.J. We have several Mediterranean/Italian favorite restaurants in N.J. All run by Albanians. However, Azzurro is just a touch above the others. The quality of food is outstanding (Rigatoni Azzurro and Eggplant Parmigiana are standouts) with all entrees cooked to order (pasta true al'dente). Prices are very reasonable with excellent desserts priced at $7. The servers are total professionals and attentive. The restaurant is roomy, clean and have nice paintings on the wall. And to top it off, it's BYOB. We just love the place. We have not met the owner but have repeatedly pleaded with the servers to tell the owner to open a restaurant in the Lehigh Valley or at least closer to Pennsylvania. Bob and Linda“

We were served the best warm bread I've had in a long time--crusty on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. I believe the owner was our server, and he was very accommodating. The food was delicious! We brought some wine and were given wine glasses. This is what we ordered: Mozzarella sticks - Good and typical of what you would usually have. Meatballs - I loved them. Good flavor and delicious marinara Pesto Chicken Panini - Excellent Sausage Parmesan sandwich - My husband didn't think it was anything special, but the bread was great Bucatini Amatriciana: Pasta with Italian bacon and onions in a fresh tomato sauce. It was mildly spicy and flavorful, and the portion was good. The kids split a Margarita pizza with fresh mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, fresh tomato sauce, and basil.
