A minor point but the restaurant had a smell to it walking in. It was a little off-putting but I know that restaurants, depending on their layout, can't really control smells. I mean have you ever been to a Subway that didn't smell like bread? The food was tasty when we got it, but the wait was a bit long for what we ordered. Been a regular here since their early years. Everything is always so fresh and delish at this Japanese restaurant. Sushi Hana does not cut corners yet their prices, to me, resemble that of a good value - especially in Montclair for its location and quality! They have parking in the rear by the bank when it’s closed but you have to pay on weekends. There is a municipal parking ramp across the street. I love this place so much. Not only because they're basically the only great sushi spot that offers a good set of low carb rolls, but because they are fresh, consistent, and all around amazing. We've had all of their types of food and you can't go wrong with anything. Besides their sushi, highly recommend: - spicy kani salad - garlic shrimp - pork and chive dumplings - fried rice Montclair itself has our share of Japanese spots, but this place doesn't get the credit it deserves.
