“I happened to be walking by on Sunday so stopped in for lunch. I’m so glad I did - this place is awesome! I haven’t had much West African food but it was all very flavorful and well prepared. They have a number of sets you can order that come with a meat and a couple sides - I went with the yassa grilled chicken and it was delicious. It’s in the African cultural center and I found the space really nice abd decorated with beautiful photography. I’ll be back!“

“Cute, small African restaurant with food on steam trays. It is also halal. The owner is very sweet and friendly. She offered me samples. I ended up getting the beef stew, jollof, and a chicken dish that I didn't remember the name of. Might have been yassa. The food wasn't that spicy although the flavor of the chicken with onions has a really strong mustard flavor. The pounded yam helps mellow out the flavor. The jollof was grainy. I enjoyed the beef stew. The food was ok, but I had better.“

“10-10, it was my first trying fufu and jolof. The lady in the front was soooo sweet and let us try some turkey wings since it was our first time trying that type of food. I absolutely loved my soup and chicken with the fufu it was sooooo good. I’ve been telling everyone about it so many more people should be heading you guys way. I absolutely loved it.“

“We ordered for pick up, it was our first time ordering from this restaurantWe ordered•thiebou yapp - rice with lamb it was a lot of meat (generous amount )and my picky child enjoyed the meal, im glad it wasn’t spicy because I prefer the spicy paste on the side.we rate the meal 8/10 according to our picky eater child ?• yassa- chicken with onions- I enjoyed it, however it was just a overly oily ?? not sure if it’s supposed to be that way. If it wasn’t too oily I will rate it 8/10Will definitely come back for the thiebou yapp with extra spicy paste on the side.We were not able to take picture on our take out due to hunger ?“

“I recently dined at a West African restaurant in Harlem. Tried for the Senegalese chicken, I was a bit disappointed as the meat turned out to be rather dry, accompanied by rice that shared the same fate. The calamari offered a slight redemption, being acceptable in taste. However, the standout feature of the experience was the friendly demeanor of the staff, who made the visit more enjoyable despite the culinary letdown.Overall, while the ambiance and service were pleasant, the food failed to impress, leaving much to be desired in terms of flavor and texture.“

“What would a nice Jewish boy from the Bronx know about Senegalese food? Enough to know a FANTASTIC restaurant when he eats in one. Africa Kine's Dibe Mutton--marinated, spiced lamb chops--are simply off-the-charts. Also wonderful is the Pintade, which in Union Square Market is called "guinea fowl" and sells for $20/lb.It is as though an entire chicken were dark meat, and at Africa Kine it is roasted to perfection. And the whole fried snapper was delectable. Order two entrees for three people, because portions here are very generous. Did I mention the Joloff rice? It is magnificent. The dining room of the restaurant is simple and homey, and you see families, and girls' night out, and some men eating alone, all in a welcoming space that feels like a tavern, minus the alcohol. All three times I visited my waiter was the astute Papui (I am not spelling it correctly) whose bouncing braids crown a very smart head and a megawatt smile. He contributes no small part to what gives you the feeling you have discovered a great place at Africa Kine. Now if I could just learn to pronounce Ngalakh. HIghly recommended.“

“Absolutely delicious! Came twice in a span of 5 days. This is a hidden gem that l wish l knew about sooner. Portions are insane, the taste is authentic and fresh and it feels like you’re eating straight from a Senegalese home. 100% recommend. Prices are unmatchable on top of that.“

“Authentic West African food and delicious. This is a rare find in Bergen County plus there's a market next door that also has Caribbean and West African items you'd have to go to NYC to find or farther out in New Jersey. Prices are affordable too.To be frank, I know the owners and they built the market and restaurant they'd want for themselves. What I can tell you is that they've succeeded brilliantly.“
