“I grew up near here and have been coming for years for their takeout specials and deli (an old and strong alliance between the neighboring Italian and Polish immigrant communities). Food is consistently fresh and delicious, and generous portions for the price - I'm so grateful places like this continue to thrive. I especially love the hot kapusta (great for a cold), red cabbage salad, pierogis. They also carry some great imported fruit drinks, like low sugar apple and cherry juice, and a thick banana coconut and chia seed drink. Always very friendly, charming and kind staff. TO ADD: I stopped in again this week and was excited to discover that they make fried apple fritters to order - wonderful! It's the first time I've seen that in the US - one thing I miss about Italy is how common it is to get fresh or made to order hot doughnuts (usually lemon flavored "zeppole", cinnamon and sugared doughnuts or filled croissants), and it's rare in Italian American bakeries. Simple batter fried with sliced apples, sprinkled with powdered sugar, not overly sweet. It just doesn't get better than that.“

You walk in and there is a wall full of colorful signs describing multiple types of sandwiches you can order. All looked spectacular but on the first night I ordered "The Biden". All the ingredients spoke to me and man what a sandwich! The flavor explosion was incredible with sun dried tomatoes and avocado on a croissant. I forget what my buddies got but they were raving about them too. The next night I got a meatball sub with grilled onions and once again I was in Heaven. We all were. You walk in and aside from the squad of friendly workers at both main counters you'll first encounter the amazing breads (and treats). All the shapes, styles and sizes your carb-loving heart desires will be found on one of these racks. Expertly made... dense, sturdy, flavorful, with a mighty crust (that'll give your Fixodent a workout!). Take a few steps towards the 'back' and now you're at the deli and it's overflowing with options. Each item looks bewitching and alluring and before you can even finish saying, "A pound of..." - somehow it's already sliced and bagged and the guy is waiting on the next item you need. (Maybe it's that luscious square of eggplant parm that they've intentionally left "posed" on top of the spatula or the Italian hot dog platter or that mountain of sauteed broccoli rabe that you know it's going to have that perfect 'bite'.) And as soon as you get home you immediately start crafting what's to be a most perfect sandwich with their seeded semolina, fresh ball of mootz (so creamy and delectable), and a few other odds-and-ends you snagged.
