I always make a point of stopping at the Pepper Pot anytime I drive through Hatch, NM. Why? Because of the delicious authentic New Mexican food, cute outdoor patio dinning, and friendly service. This trip I ordered the steak and enchiladas for lunch and was amazed at the quantity and quality of the steak in particular—cooked just right and oh so flavorful. I can’t wait for my next trip there!

Recently went with my service animal and the owner made us leave and discriminated us for my service animal. I would like to state that my “trained service animal” was causing no disturbance and we were seated away from all the other customers. I tried to talk with the owner at the restaurant and she said she can ask whatever she wants and when I tried to correct her she started raising her voice telling me that she has had “lots of training on this”? I called back to educate them on service animals and they lied and said the owner was not there ( even tho she was) because we had just left moments earlier and eventually I was able to speak to her and she did not let me talk at all and told me not to bother her. Instead of taking a moment of kindness and patience and listening to where they went wrong she hung up on me. I have included some information so hopefully this will not happen to anyone else I hope the owner will educate herself, as she is ignorant of the subject. The owner should also practice better customer service as she was aggressive and rude, her behavior was disgusting and she was 100% in the wrong. We will not be back as she violated my rights. we also have video of how we were talked to when we called back.

I was so disappointed in my chile relleno plate. There was so much sauce, I could even find the peppers. I didn't eat the rice or beans. The place is old and toilet in the ladies room was leaking on the floor.
