Masa is an outstanding Chef. My cousin and I surrendered our choices for lunch and opted for his professional discretion. Im sure I will continue to do so every time I visit his wonderful establishment as he presented what must be one of the best lunches I've had in my life so far, and it sure will be hard to beat. Thank you so much for this amazing experience.

Head and shoulders the most authentic, most expertly prepared, most delicious sushi anywhere in the Rio Grande valley. Sushi done right does not lend itself to a large restaurant. It is not that sushi from one of the swanky larger places is bad, it's just that Masutah's sushi is that much better.

Outstanding. Presided over by the charming Masa, a sushi genius from Kyoto. An authentically delicious experience. Do not miss the wonderful sake flights. Perfection.

Best Japanese restaurant in the south west. Always exceptional and delicious, can't go wrong.

Absolutely stunning, I moved to new mexico from oregon and was missing sushi, I figured it wouldn't be as good inland but I was incredibly wrong, this was the best sushi I've ever had anywhere, period. Not only was everything delicious it was also beautiful! The service was amazing, despite only the owner being on shift everything was quick and more than reasonably timed, he was also very kind and fun when we spoke. We got the chef's choice service because there were no menus at the time, and it's like he read my mind based on almost no info at all! Every dish included some of my favorite things despite never telling him what my favorites were, and again it was delicious, I'm the type to usually use a dab of spicy mayo on my sushi just to bring out more flavor and goodness these didn't need a single thing or addition! He also made us a gorgeous dessert, I cannot fully describe what an experience this was, and so reasonably priced! we had three people eating and we all got three dishes and the price was still under one hundred dollars! I've had awful diner food on the road with people that came out to more than that despite being average at best.Overall this experience was amazing and I cannot wait for my next visit to santa fe just for this restaurant!

Wonderful little sushi restaurant in a super convenience location. The owner was so attentive and took time to serve very fresh and delicious sushi. We did omakase and weren't disappointed! Would highly recommend!

Great experience and even better food! It’s a cozy legit sushi place with a awesome menu that’s always being refreshed.

I really want to keep liking Sushi Land East. I really do. It's the most diverse selection of sushi you'll find in NM, hands-down. Usually the freshest, too. Best tasting? You bet. See my previous reviews. Masa is always updating his menu, but this time something was awry. The menu online looked nothing like the menu in-house. Usually there are lots of rolls with different combinations, but this time around, it said "ask" for the rest of the rolls (this seems cryptic, honestly). Most of the listed rolls were some sort of tuna variant. There was an insert that said that he was trying to do omakase better and accommodate for food allergies. Well... we did ask about the rolls and omakase, and were informed (by the wonderful waitress) that he only does omakase for a whole table. It was my birthday, and I booked two weeks in advance because I love this place. But two members out of four of my party had allergies and taste 'differences', and per our waitress, he would not accommodate. We drank our lovely sake flights and left :( Ten to Chi is now a favorite sake of mine. There is no doubt that Masa is a master of his craft. It seems weird that we could not just order two omakase's and the others order what they want. I think that going forward, this may become a single or couple's spot. ---- (Masa, we want you to be happy. So if this isn't the way anymore ... we still support you. Best of luck to you!)

Enjoyable Japanese food with reasonable lunch specials and an intimate charm. I've never seen a completely handwritten menu before but that just added to the feeling that we were eating in someone's living room.

Nice Sushi place, and the friendliest people.

The waitress was really nice, the atmosphere was great and as soon as I walked in my expectations were through the roof, fairly priced sushi, real Japanese beer, sake, pretty much anything you would ask for on a Japanese restaurant however all this doesn’t make up for the poorly tasted sushi and ridiculously small portions, the sushi roll is smaller than half a roll in any other sushi place.

Nice comfy sushi. Make sure to get the miso.
