I am a City Island resident and I find thw Black Whale to be a gem on the island. Their eclectic manu has many excellent choices. Amoung my favorites are the cuban sandwich (excellent marinated pernil), the chicken cordon bleu (the sauce is to die for), the penne ala vodka and the lobster oreganata. It has a welcoming and cozy atmosphere far from the noisy drunken crouds in many other spots on the island. The staff is attentive and friendly.
Possibly one of the most unique atmosphere's on City Island. Everywhere your eye turns there is something special to see. Great food, fresh ingredients, wonderful friendly service.Kid-friendliness: Patrons and staff made my six year old granddaughter feel right at home.

I LOVE The Black Whale! It is filled with charm, beauty and interesting antiques everywhere. The staff is wonderful and the food is SUPERB! It is definitely one my favorite place to dine in City Island and NYC at large!
