18 Best Craft Breweries in Buffalo

BriarBrothers Brewing Company Brewery •
50 Elk St, Buffalo

“Went there for dinner and drinks as they have the Hen House there on Thursdays with a really good special. This is a review about the brewery, though not the food. I’ve been there twice so far and have tried a few different drinks and they were all solid. Overall I wouldn’t say I’m a huge hard seltzer fan but I really love the cream soda one that they had on rotation at the time. Love me a cream soda, and it tastes so much like one, but with alcohol! In terms of beers, I tried the fruit sour beers called punchbowl, which had a couple varieties as well. If you’re into craft brews and maybe want to try something different with hard seltzers as well, I’d recommend giving them a visit. The staff is great and will let you try something before you buy the full size as well.“

“This place is a true gem. Some of the best local brew and food in town. They recently launched a new menu that outcompetes other local favorites like Coles and Colter Bay. It’s elevated bar food with cool takes on burgers, tacos, wings, sandwich’s, etc. Have gone the last two Fridays for the fish platter. The best I’ve had!“

“Was there for a joint birthday party with my buddy. Food was easy to order from Wingnuts and couldn’t believe how fast everything came out of the kitchen. They do take reservations for large parties but make sure you do it a couple days before. Great selection of beers as well. Parking lot is a minefield though. Only negative.“

Sad Boys Brewing Brewery •
567 Exchange St, Buffalo

“Came here for the first time over the weekend. It was on my list to visit for quite a while. The atmosphere is excellent. The staff were very knowledgeable and seemed very enthusiastic about their beer offerings. I was very pleased with all of the beer that I tried. Very unique tastes, but it would appeal to an easy drinking type too. I didn't have a lot of time to explore all of their beer. But I definitely plan to return soon to do just that. I think they're one of the top breweries in Buffalo, in my opinion.I don't know if there's a market for opening earlier on a Thurs or Fri but that would be great if they were to do that. I'd love to come without bringing my kids.“

“Been here a few times while using our WNY Beer Trail Pass. Always a good selection of beers on tap. Sometimes the bartenders are a bit quiey but at least they pay attention and keep your glass filled. We also joined a party that rented the place out for a wedding and that was a great time as well. Parking is a bit tough sometimes but never to the point where we cant get in. We will be back again once the weather warms up.“

Gene McCarthy's Old First Ward Brewing Company Brewery • $$
73 Hamburg St, Buffalo

“I came from Canada to try authentic Buffalo wings. We went to a restaurant recommended by a friend's friend, where I tried the wings sprinkle with recommended blue cheese. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant, and it made for a enjoyable lunch. Many locals were dining there, and I was surprised by the volume of today's special menu. It's a popular spot among the locals.Since it's also a brewery, you can enjoy various delicious beers. The restaurant is located in a residential area, and its appearance resembles a house, making it easy to overlook. There are also days when they have live band performances at night. The jukebox and the presence of four-leaf clovers inside the restaurant added to the ambiance.I bought beer as a souvenir for my husband, but it wasn't bottled; instead, they poured the beer from the dispenser into an empty can and sealed it, making it literally fresh beer to go.I definitely want to visit again.“

Other Half Brewing - Buffalo Taproom Brewery • $$
1 Seneca St, Buffalo

“This is only a temporary location on the Seneca One Plaza, located in what looks like a greenhouse. Have been here twice as a dog rescue event volunteer on a Saturday afternoon. So, gave me a great opportunity to sit and observe the goings on. Sweet that they so graciously support animal rescue. What came to mind is a 21st century version of an old corner tavern atmosphere. Friends come to hang out, chat, grab a few drinks and laughs. Bring the kids, even bring the dogs. Maybe guessing customers are the downtown urbanites out for a stroll. Pinball machines and a basketball machine for entertainment. Many board games stacked up and actually being used by the groups who come in to hang out and relax.I'm not a beer fan, but they do carry a great hard apple cider, and the usual non-alcoholic offerings. No food till they are full service and moved to the tower, but patrons are encouraged to bring their own, or order in thru a delivery service. The one time, there was a foodtruck right outside. Toilet facilities are just a very short walk across the door to a restroom trailer, with all the comforts of the usual public restroom....even more, since it's big.Better things to come. But a really nice place as it is right now. :)“

Belt Line Brewery & Kitchen Brewery • $$
545 Swan St, Buffalo

“Wish I could give it 4.5. This place is a little out of our way, but what else are we gonna do on a Friday night? Came around 7 and there were several people at the bar and at the tables. You order drinks and food from the bar and then you pick it up once your buzzer rings from the kitchen area.I ordered the regular burger (they all have two thin sliced patties) and my fiancé ordered the chicken fingers. Both were really good but let me say that the fries really stood out! They were fresh, thick cut...just the way we like them. I'd come back for just the fries! We also tried a pretzel which was also very good. I got a Moscow mule and he got one of their IPA's. It was all really good and I highly recommend!“

We would definitely go back.“
