One of my foodie friends and I decided to meet up. We always try to go to a new place that we both haven't tried - and we ended up here at Cheli. Cheli is a Chinese Restaurant (specifically Shanghainese) located in East Village (Manhattan) and Flushing (Queens). My friend, his girlfriend, and I went to the Flushing Location. According to their website, Che Li presents a distinctive dining experience, weaving together the rich tapestry of Song Dynasty banquet culture with the authentic and sophisticated flavors of Shanghai cuisine. Their culinary philosophy is deeply rooted in the heritage of Jiangnan--a region known for its delicate beauty, culinary finesse, and the origin of Shanghai's gastronomic excellence. Characterized by its subtle yet profound flavors, meticulous preparation, and elegant presentation, their cuisine pays tribute to this heritage while celebrating the refined communal spirit of Song Dynasty feasts. We were all super excited to try! Between the 3 of us, we tried the following: - Wine Soaked Chicken - Crab Meat and Pork Soup Dumplings - Sweet and Sour Crispy Eel - Nine Spiced Rabbit - Hot Stone Braised Rice (mushroom) - Sauteed Water Spinach - Black Sesame Sticky Rice Balls - Rose Lemonade Super fun and feels like an authentic experience. My friend had to order in Chinese - and I obviously pointed to the menu to order since my Chinese skills are limited. Never been to China but I would imagine the decor is pretty representative. “I come here at least once a week and I wouldn't go no where else! The food is always amazing, the servers know how to do their job and even go above and beyond. My favorite part is that no matter how much I eat I never feel sick afterwards. I've dined at plenty of BBQ spots and no matter what the meat makes me feel bloated but not here. I particularly enjoyed the spinach and strawberry salad. There was an issue with our order so it was delayed, but when we spoke to the manager, he took care of things quickly. “The service was top notch! Came on a Saturday for lunch and it was surprisingly not too crowded. All the dishes were super authentic Beijing cuisine. If you get the duck set, they would offer to either deep fry the carcass or make it into a porridge. We picked deep fry and loved it. They have another version stuffed with eggplant and harissa that I’ll have to go back and try. Really enjoyed the chicken shawarma bowl too. The toppings and sauces made this a great dish — artichokes, garlic eggplant, feta cheese, garlic sauce and harissa. They also have excellent lemonades. I had the peach ginger and my husband had the Moroccan mint. They have a lovely covered backyard to eat in. Great choice for lunch or dinner near the beach.“

“I have had this bar on my radar since I saw multiple posts about this place on Instagram in the past. I came in for brunch, and I think this place is super cute, and I got such a great view of the water while dining outdoors. Owen was my server, and he was very friendly. The service getting my food and drink was a tad slow, which was understandable as I saw the restaurant was having a private event inside. They have a decent sized menu with reasonable prices, and the Meatlover Omelet I ordered tasted really good. They also make a great bloody mary as well. I was surprised that I didn't have an issue finding street parking in this area as they don't have a parking lot. Overall, I was happy with my first experience, and I will definitely stop in again the next time I drive to the Rockaways.“

“Came here on a Saturday for dinner without a reservation and the place is pretty spacious so we got seated right away. It's located kind of away from flushing proper so the restaurant itself is pretty big unlike some of the more cramped spots. The food was pretty good honestly, you can tell it's very genuine Szechuan style cooking. We had the spicy beef and string beans they were both so flavorful. I have never been so excited about any vegetable dishes but the beans were one of the favorite Chinese vegetable dishes ever. We also got spicy fish, the fish was fried first then put into spicy soup. The cooking style is amazing and everything was delicious. The spice they use are fresh and not too much for my taste. Our service though was a bit slow and I think at some point they forgot to make our fish and we had to ask multiple times before it finally came out. Would have been great if service was better but overall flavors are amazing and would definitely come again!“

“Liuyishou Hot Pot is a pretty laid back spot for some really good hot pot options. They have many meats and vegetables as well as different kinds of soups to try for your pot(s). This restaurant also has a really solid number of appetizers, snacks, and sauces you can create and plate then add to your table. A very wide selection with fried chicken, pig ear, dough with dipping sauce, etc. The hot pot was very tasty and all the meats we tried were great, and the price was not too bad either. Service was excellent.“

“My absolute favorite Greek restaurant! They have several locations, but I like the one in Bayside the best because I find it's not as crowded as the other ones. The parking here can be a little tough but there is a municipal parking lot about 3 short blocks away and you can also take public transportation there, it is about a block away from the Bayside Long Island Railroad station. Try their steak its my favorite, but I also recommend the octopus, and their fish is always fresh and delicious, but you really can't go wrong with anything you get here. This place is always super clean, the service is always great and they pour a great drink. Now, this is an edited review from my original because i just had to mention Arif, who is the general manager. When you meet Arif you will understand why this place is so great. I was told there’s not enough seating for everyone but they would gladly accommodate us at the event space next door. I agreed. My family arrived at around 6 and the two ladies took our order and Yvonne took a few minutes to prepare the table for us. When she led us into the room we were so delighted and astounded!
