Guatita

“Salchipapas on point! The portion is big and the pink sauce delicious! For those of you who don't know what salchipapas are, it is a Latin fast food dish which includes frenchfries with hotdogs topped with a special salad and pink sauce. It may sound simple but it is the comfort dish everyone needs in their lives. This restaurant also has a variety of Ecuadorian bakery items including bread, empanadas and humitas (corn cakes) which are all delicious as well. They have a hot buffet available with some traditional Ecuadorian dishes. Overall, this place is a great hole in the wall Ecuadorian restaurant that offers great food at a good price.“

“Walking in the area, stopped and said let me check this out. I didn't realize all the cake slices were tres leches cake based. I got the cookies and cream. It wasn't too sweet, flavorful. The texture of the cake slice was on point. Chilled and definitely worth it to come back and try more options. Worth it!“

“Loved how authentic this Colombian bakery is. Hola he customer service is fantastic i was treated like family and served very quickly. The prices are very fair for $10.50 i was able to enjoy two different empanada, a cheese bread and a Colombian soda. Between the two empanadas I'd have to say the chicken one is my favorite The green sauce compliments the empanadas perfectly. Great place to grab a bite and go on busy days.“

“Fantastic coffee & lunch! Very friendly & helpful staff. Especially since I'm from North Carolina and don't speak spanish. The nice customers helped me too. They have a green sauce that goes with the empanadas that is awesome; I would buy it by the quart! And a Columbian roll with cheese that is not sweet that is wonderful. Definitely will go back next time I'm in NYC“

“Authentic Colombian fare that's delicious. I tried traditional baked goods- almojabanas (my favorite) and pan de bono. The 'avena' or oatmeal drink was the best my husband has ever tried. We also tried the chicharron (pork rind) and traditional Colombian sausage accompanied by potaoes.....yummy. The next day I had my Colombian comfort food - the tamal valluno, which I ordered frozen, to go. Amazing flavor! I must go back to try more dishes, but I definitely recommend this eatery in Astoria.“

“My favorite morning spot. But as of late its has been so spotty. They were open yesterday and I go to pick up my usually supply of mult grains rolls. Surprise surprise sign and lights off! Something to the tune of blaming the pandemic and equipment failure!! If someone reads this who works there or the owner. This is just not right you owe more to us and the neighbors who patron your business get it together!!“

“The other night, I accompanied my wife to a Yelp Elite event in a restaurant near this Mexican bakery. After eating in the said restaurant, we decided to walk along junction blvd to burn some acquired calories and to check out some stores as it has been a while since we have visited the area. During the walk, this bakery caught my interest and attention due to the beautiful, colorful, appetizing cakes and jelly fruits that was displayed in their store, due to my excitement I forgot to do a Yelp check-in on this establishment. As soon as we got in the bakery I was pleasantly surprised with the abundant choice of breads, cakes and desserts that they were offering, but what really caught my eyes were the Jelly fruits that they have. We bought a small peach-cherry-strawberry combination Jelly fruit. We did not eat it immediately, we went home, refrigerated it and I ate it the next day. I was really grateful that it was not too sweet, it was delicious and is of the right firmness. I will definite buy another one when we get back to this area. The employees were nice, they wrapped my Jelly fruit properly. This review rating is based on my experience and the quality of the food I purchased from them. I am very willing to try the other stuff they are offering. Just like what I did, I recommend you to try this place.“
