“Omg one of the best customer service experience I have ever experienced in a HAITIAN restaurant. USUALLY I don’t like going into haitian stores because of the rudeness , but not this place, I was greeted by pops who took my order and he was just a breath of fresh air ,and amazing , great conversation , I would have ended up buying everything there if I stayed any longer lol ..he wanted me to taste everything .. from KREMAS to a taste of his macaroni .. he wanted me to try everything lol ? .. I Bought some patties and a fish lunch special .. it’s an amazing thing to have a lunch special and still get great quality food .. small fish for 20 dollars was a really good price came with rice and plantain. I love the little piece of lemon they had with my fish , it says they pay attention to little details, even with a lunch special.. my patties were properly coded since I bought a variety of different kinds. I GIVE THEM 10 starts .. food quality was great and flavorful as well. .. can’t post fish pic because by the time I wrote this review I devoured the fish lol.. sorry.“

“The service was good pleasant environment the young brother I assume was the manager ask me to be honest in my review so here it is. The stew chicken was ok to me my wife enjoyed the stew chicken i think the rice was a lil to mushy and the chicken was either over cooked or old bc it was chewy as of it was cooked more than a few days ago my son's had the oxtails i didn't hear any complaints so I assumed it was good but overall I'm giving island flavor 3 out of 5 for the stew chicken bc my wife enjoyed hers, also they need to pay attention bc I orderd a beef patty for home the patty wasn't in the bag so i called first to let them know the error the brother apologized and wanted to bring it to my house I told him that was ok bc I was already on my way back which was just 5min away, when I arrived he bless me with an extra patty and bottled water which I thought was Kool bc you do want a happy custom and also they asked me to try on the house of course their homemade juice I had the passion fruit which was good highly recommend trying so for that I'm giving them an overall rating 4 out of 5 just bc they're trying to do the right thing by their customers.. can't add photo bc this was a cpl of days ago sorry.“
“WHAT AN ABSOLUTE GEM! This place is definitely my new favorite place yet. I stumbled upon this restaurant randomly and I'm so glad that i did. The food is 10/10 - seasoned to perfection, tender and delicious jerk chicken. The Rasta pasta was very tasty and the jerk shrimp omg, super yummy. rice was soft and tasty and the salad was a perfect addition to the dish. The service was 10/10 - the gentlemen was helpful and told us to go online to look at the menu and he ended up being the chef as well, this place is made to order so if you're in a rush I'd place my order before hand, if not enjoy the Freeport views and other restaurants and then come back for your food. Thank you sir for the delicious food!!! The ambiance is 5/10 - It is your typical hole in the wall shack type of location, no real ambiance to it, food is too go. They didn't offer any outdoor seating, so no real ambiance besides an open kitchen that looks really well kept and clean. If you're ever in Freeport - nautical mile. I would highly recommend this place!! You won't be disappointed.“

“The jerk pork is SO good! The best around. The mac and cheese could use a little more seasoning but is good too. It's more similar to black american baked mac and cheese than what you normally get at Jamaican spots (which is a good thing imo).“

“Good place to get some delicious food. J*** chicken with rice and peas was very delicious but be a little cautious with finding a few chopped bone pieces. Shrimp and chicken patties were delicious and flavorful too, with a very flaky crust. Friendly staff.“
“Patties are amazing. Light, flavorful and seasoned to perfection. But it doesn't stop there.....the freshly made bread is the show stopper. I gladly take my 20 minute drive to pick up loaves (yes loaves, more than 1) of bread. Owners are also so friendly and inviting. My favorite bakery!!“
“First time experience at Blue Island. We were a group of 5 and we all had a fantastic time! We love Caribbean cuisine and it was a nice bonus that we could enjoy Caribbean food in an elevated atmosphere, meaning this is a waterfront location so there is seating overlooking the water and the area is very live! This makes the property very unique as there are not many Caribbean restaurants in the area with a full on sit down dining experience and none that I know of overlooking the water. There is also inside dining which is where we sat with our group because the place was already packed by early evening. We were hoping to get seating outside but overall, had a nice dinner inside where there was a pianist that night, (intimate lo key, relaxing setting inside, and full on PARTY atmosphere outside, with great music!!!) the blue rum punch is everything! Will definitely return and arrive earlier for seating outside. hope in the future as they grow, they will extend the menu.“

“ordered off uber eats, got the oxtail egg rolls and rice and peas. egg rolls were amazing, tender oxtail and lots of it. also came with maduros/sweet plantain which were delicious if you like them soft. rice and peas were very bland, they gave me a whole lot for $5 so i assume they wanted to get rid of it. the peas were undercooked/powdery and overall just needed some salt. amazing otherwise don’t let the fake negative reviews steer you away“

We wasted no time getting back to our car to dug in to what we were sure was gonna be a great meal. We COULDNT HAVE BEEN PREPARED FOR HOW GOOD THE FOOD WAS GOING TO BE!The chicken was hot a juicy, it fell off the bone with ease the flavor was so good with a spice so nice it warms you with love. The two patties were also amazing and bursting with flavor. The rice with the beef gravy was also delicious but compared to everything else I was too distracted to be focused on the rice.Now we get to the mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese felt like it was made by someone's mama, you felt mama's hugs when you dug into that Mac! The flavor was pumping and the cheese was ooey gooey goodness. Probably one of the best Mac and cheese I've ever had.All this dreamy food for twenty dollars, it's something I've not seen in a long time.From the moment we stepped into the restaurant and were greeted by the amazing and friendly staff I knew we were gonna be in for a treat. “If it's one thing I appreciate from this place is the portions. Now a days it's hard to find good homemade type food for a decent price. But at Uncle Don's they don't skimp out. I love the sweet plantains. Rice and peas was a bit dry but the flavor is still there. Jerk chicken has flavor without overpowering everything else. The Spicy Beef Patty uff.. my favorite. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is a great establishment for this community. It brings good & delicious carribean food to this part of Long Island. I highly recommend this spot“
