“I visited this place twice and enjoyed the food on both occasions. On my first visit, I had the rice and peas and jerk chicken, which was solid. On my second visit, I tried the rice and peas and kingfish, which was also good. However, the price of the kingfish seemed a bit high for the portion size.

Macaroni looks appealing, but it wasn’t very good. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Dumplings are good.

If I'm paying $18 for ackee and saltfish, I would like to see my meal to match the price, which it didn't. There need to be a balance.”

“My family and I came here on a whim on our way home from a road trip. We weren’t expecting much. We were just hungry. But man, it exceeded our expectations. Not only was the vibe awesome. Lively on the bar side, but very family oriented on the dining side, the food was delicious, the portions were massive and so reasonably priced. The service was great. Someone was always checking up on us. And the owner even came to ask how we were doing and say hello!! Absolutely exceeded our expectations and we will be driving the hour over the bridge to go back to this spot soon. Highly recommend.”

“I finally came here after years of hearing about this place and trying many different options from places in New Rochelle all the way to Nyack. Although the atmosphere is minimal the food is delicious and plentiful. I felt as if I was picking up plates of soul food from my church ladies with the gospel music playing which I did not mind.

I ordered three dinners we tried the fried chicken, collards, yams and one order of mac and cheese that was a mistake we should have gotten more and order of peach cobbler. As my daughter described it she felt like eating this food was like getting a hug from a grandma! None of the food is overly seasoned which my husband and I prefer but seems to be the common mistake a lot of soul food locations are making.

There is a detour near the location which makes parking a little bit of a challenge however, that will not stop me from returning.”

I will definitely be ordering again. the only negative was the shrimp were unpeeled and whole head on which my daughter was very upset about lol I didn't like that, not everyone wants to eat food with eyes staring at you. otherwise, the crab legs and the spice, the veggies and the incredible sauce were honestly the best I've had in a long time. my daughter said that the mango smoothie was the best...my green juice was tasty but it was pretty thick more like a smoothie lots of pulps and probably would have been much better strained but I'm definitely excited to order again and find some new favorites on the menu. “These are larger than normal sized slices! Don't let the first glance fool you. They're thin and crispy and another review said they're not as salty or greasy as other places and I 100% agree. Our chicken calzone was HUGE but perhaps John thought we didn't have enough food. The chicken wasn't flavorful but the marinara that came on the side was real nice. John and his daughter-in-law (?) were so attentive - extra napkins and forks for the kids, offered to rewrap our calzone to go, some little candies to go. As for ambience, you're not coming in here for that but with 2 kids, you don't need that. But if you're looking for the nostalgic pizzerias from back in the day, this is it. Just missing an arcade system. Also heads up, cash only.”

“Came here on Wednesday night and I WAS SOOOOOOO IMPRESSED! First, everything is so clean and well organized! We had a party of 7 without a reservation and we were nervous that we wouldn’t be able to get our table. The manager was super accommodating and made room for our party despite already being packed. We were sat right away and service was quick to attend us. We all ordered drinks right away that were nicely garnished and the drinks were all freshly made (no pre-made mixers). We ordered the strawberry flavored hookah and were very pleased with the quality of the hookah and how attentive the hookah boy was. Our food came out fairly fast. I ordered the seafood platter and had 0 complaints, the amount of food for the price was a total surprise! Living in Miami I am used to the large price for a small amount of food. This was not the case! The flavor was very good! They obviously have a server that knows exactly what he is doing. This is my new favorite place and will be back soon!”
