“Had a great time at Butera's in Bay Shore last night (despite it being St. Patrick's day Bar Crawl Weekend in the town). The food was outstanding! We had the Gnocchi and Lasagna and I could eat loaves of that bread if given the opportunity. I'm not a fan of Rainbow cookies or desserts in general, but the Rainbow Cookie Cheesecake is a must! Can't wait to go back and try everything, because narrowing down what I wanted to eat was one of the hardest decisions of the night!“

The staff were all friendly and helpful and I got my food within a few minutes. There are very few seats inside so getting your food to go is probably a better option. “We had a very friendly waitress. She recommended the rice balls, and they were excellent. There was also a tv in the dining room and they changed it to the NASCAR race for me. The bread was nice and the garden salad was surprisingly tasty. Usually tomatoes are pale white and bland this time of year, but they had some nice ones in the salad. My entree was the Chicken Monachina. The portion size was very generous. Maybe a little more cheese than I would've liked. The chicken was of good quality and had no gristle. “Recently visited with friends for lunch. Table service was excellent with server explaining the specials along with recommendations on the basic menu items. Dining area was clean and overall ambiance simple but appealing. Ordered the chicken roll which they specifically cooked for me and a vegetable which were cooked to perfection. Overall service was great. Server checked up on us multiple times and we felt right at home, not rushed at all. Restaurant located on the main road but entrance and parking are behind the strip center off Hawkins.“

Both were great. The Sicilian tasted like the ones I ate growing up in NY. Quality ingredients and a crisp crust. “I've lived in the area for years and never been inside this place until two weeks ago. The inside of the establishment has this classy old-school charm about it. It was a tiny bit confusing because they had the podium in the front by the door and the sign on it said to wait there I noticed everybody walked in anyway so I just went. Maybe they can hide that somewhere else until it's that time of the night or something? Anyway, one of my favorites slices is the grandma slice and I had to try theirs because it was suggested over and over to me by many people. So after finally trying one slice, I ended up buying a whole pie and taking it home. “Wow, this may be the best hidden gem on all of 112! They make really good sausage egg and cheese sandwiches (which they also serve all day, a plus when you’re craving one for lunch). Don’t sleep on their french toast either it’s excellent and filling.Perhaps the best thing I’ve tried yet though is the Cuban sandwich. My goodness, the pork is juicy and tender and unlike any other cuban I’ve had in the area. Tons of meat and super tasty. The pizza has been good so far too and is quite a large pie.“

The owner assured me that this was a one-off and that they have a high standard of pizza and made it right with me after my lack-luster purchase. I figured let me try another type in case the pepperoni just isn’t good at this place. I said I would go back and try it again and I did. I tried something sort of different— half pep and half Buffalo chicken. What a difference! I mean, this pizza is by far some of the best I’ve had on Long Island!
