When I think about eating at a diner, I often imagine a diner in the middle of a dirt road that offers a place of solace and comfort. In this imagery, painted by movies and television, what makes a diner so warm and homey is the nurturing waitress that is friendly, kind, nurturing, and provides a calming presence.
