“We were greeted with enthusiasm, excellent service and rhe food is phenomenal! I live about a half hour away. No deterrent here. I'll go again and again! Loved the homestyle feel loved the atmosphere. It's just a tiny little nook, and a great find, in downtown Troy, NY. I will recommend this restaurant to others and order ahead next time. The place fits about 15 people max. Otherwise you would wait out the door for the crispy panine or the jerk chicken like you're in the Caribbean itself ! If I could I'd give it 6 stars!“
“Best Latin food I ever had! I had the half rotisserie chicken and the Cuban empanada and it was out of this word! Also, when I arrived the food needed another 5-10 mins and they offered me a drink for good customer service, but didn’t take it as it was well worth the wait.“
“A great neighborhood grocery! Super small and packed to the gills with essentials!I went in for a very specific but mundane request "wax paper" and they had it, stacked way up on top of one of the coolers (a very nice worker found it for me). They have a large selection of hot food available as well as vegetables, spices, baking essentials, and more.Very happy to have found this convenient and friendly grocery within walkable distance of my apartment!“
““Rensselaer’s hidden gem.” MZMi Ecuador should be top on your list for economical, ethnic, and tasteful sensational experiences.A wonderful experience full of food made with love. Tender meats, perfectly cooked rice and beans, and also heaping loads of the aforementioned fill your plate. The lunch special is $12, so it is definitely bang for the buck.Stopped in around lunch time but the place was not packed with people, though it was filled with enchanting aromas, Ecuadorian trinkets, and fun music.Anytime I’m in the area and hungry, I know where I’m going.“
“Love this place it's been my favorite for many years I love their chicharron and their beans and rice had a few times where it took hours to deliver to us and a couple fatty chichis lol but it's been many years now though that I've been ordering from them and it only happened a couple times so i still love them! Delicious food always ?“
“Came for dinner. Food was good and came out pretty quick. Overall good experience. I recommend the chicken or steak fajitas. You will definitely not be disappointed afterwards. If you have kids that are picky, you may find difficulty in finding something that they would like to eat.Parking: Large private parking lot, but it’s not paved so beware if you come during times of inclement weather you may see flooding.“
“The food is good here! I asked for a spicier salsa and they delivered. The server was also very friendly and the place was a nice vibe. The inside is colorful and they have different artists painted on the walls, although idk how I feel about Pitbull’s portrait lolOverall a good spot to eat at“
“I had such a difficult time locating this restaurant on Yelp. Then, I came to the realization that it might not be listed. That surprised me because I've seen plenty of great online reviews for this place where it's overall rating is about 4.7. Apparently, the reviews are on a different platform. So let me fill Yelpers in. Encelbollados El Idolo opened this year. It's an Ecuadorian restaurant. I'm happy to say it's one of at least 3 eateries in Albany County featuring food from Ecuador.I became aware of it in early summer. There have been a number of eateries that opened at this location, but none lasted long. Then, some friends pointed out there's this new business at 450 Madison Avenue and the food is quite good. What's more, it's still there! So my husband and I went to find out albeit we're kind of late on this. All of our friends have already been there. You can get an assortment of traditional dishes. The restaurant appears to be family run. I can understand more Spanish than I can speak. The staff is friendly and most appeared to understand English. The menu is quite extensive. We were hungry so we picked the first items on the menu, which were not the cheapest. Oh, but they were good! Especially the shrimp ceviche, which can best be described as a delicious shrimp salad filled with lime juice, spices, red onions/ shallots and chopped vegetables. I also wanted to try conch ceviche. I should point out that there are many different types of conch and this wasn't what I expected. My husband liked it. I found it to be an acquired taste. The ceviches were served with South American cancha corn nuts. I really like them. I found them to be highly addictive and more fun to eat than popcorn. As for the beverage, I probably should have just requested a bottled water. There's a wide variety of sodas to chose from including the Tropical brand from Ecuador. Somehow I wounded up with orange soda which actually went well with the meal. I didn't look to see if there were alcoholic beverages. My apologies. There are several tables set up for casual dining. The decor is simple and clean. It's very orange-- I think that's due to painted walls--very vibrant.Empanadas, fries, plantains are among the popular foods at this restaurant. There are yummy looking rice dishes served with grilled chicken, fried pork or steak. I look forward to coming back. I'd like to try the fried breaded pork with rice.“
“The woman at the counter didn’t seem to understand me, just said no to everything. Disappointing bc the online menu is not correct so once I went in to pick up, I wasn’t able to add items that I now see are actually on the menu. The food is great.“
“Food is so good! Staff are warm and helpful. It's great for take out and on site eating happens largely outside. Summer has open tables and during winter there are domes set up over them with added heating. Makes for a cool outside sheltered experience. Again, food is so good!“
