We only knew that because our server came running out of the door as we got to our vehicle. Unfortunately, I didn't remember her name but we are very thankful and will definitely be back.”

“Stumbled upon this place while visiting Athens and so glad we did! The atmosphere is cozy, eclectic and fun bar with such cool vibes! The food was definitely not your typical bar food! More like something you'd get in an upscale restaurant. We had the mushroom ravioli and it was unbelievable! All the staff were friendly and very attentive. Cocktails were very well crafted and balanced. 100% recommend and can't wait to go back for some live music!”

“We recently hosted an engagement party at West End Ciderhouse. We don't live in Athens so had to do all the planning long distance - and it could not have been easier. Deanna was so helpful and her staff is amazing!! Would totally recommend this venue for any type of event as long as you're looking for someplace cool, friendly and hip for your party!! And a place that has an excellent selection of beer, wine and cider. I hear the cocktails are amazing - we didn't try any unfortunately. Next time I'm in Athens I certainly will though!!”

“I’m originally from Cleveland and had a local Chinese restaurant I’d been loyal to for years. When it closed, I was honestly heartbroken and didn’t think I’d find anything that compared. I decided to give this place a try, and I’m so glad I did. The sweet and sour chicken was even better than my old favorite back home. The hot and sour soup was a little different from what I’m used to, but I loved the spice level and the generous amount of mushrooms. I’ll definitely be coming back, this spot might just become my new go-to!”

I am so glad we decided to eat here, to start there was no wait for a table, staff is super friendly and professional and well trained in hospitality, the food was perfectly cooked, seasoned, and presented properly. My steak was cooked perfectly, very quality and flavorful meat, my wife's bacon cheeseburger was delicious and perfectly seasoned and prepared. Our waiter was amazing he ensured we had no needs for our meal. The price was fair for what we got, which was an amazing dinner experience. Don't forget about dessert, chocolate cake and creme brulee paradise.”

“My wife went to school at Ohio University... and we were in town with 5 other friends for four days enjoying the local roads (on our motorcycles) and enjoying the town every afternoon and evening.

A very welcoming bar with great bartenders and great drink choices... especially the draft list.

We were there mid-afternoon for beers and darts. Open mic started up soon after we arrived and that was pretty good... although pretty loud considering that there were only six of us in the place -- coulda dialed it back a bit.

“The Crystal was a good bar to hang out in. They let you bring food in which is a big plus. We found a little loaf area where there was enough seating for a big group of people. There was Foosball and pool and some other games around. Crowded but not packed like the bar next door.”

The vanilla bean strawberry tart was hands down one of the most scrumptious pastries I’ve ever had. The pastry crust was divine. Cinnamon rolls are fantastic. Buttery and delicious and satisfying. Grabbed a cheesecake slice and once again delicious. I can’t say enough about how delightful these baked goods are. I’m waiting for them to open up today so I can stock up again for another week. This is my favorite obsession.”

“We were in town for the Ohio v WVU game and 11 of us dined here.

It's a university run restaurant which gives the personnel real experience. Also, because it is university run, they do not take gratuities --which seems odd in this day and age -- but rest assured-- it does NOT affect any part of the dining experience.

We had a fabulous meal and the service was excellent. Sam was our lead waitstaff, but, because we had 11, others chipped in to help.

We're a motley looking crew, but we had a great time here!!

“Siam Thai was absolutely DELICIOUS and the workers were awesome. We got potstickers and green beans to share, which were both amazing and absolutely to die for. I got Tom Yum soup, and it was literally perfect. My friend got Singapore Noodles with a side of fried rice, and I tried a bite of it. Oh my gosh. Absolutely amazing.

The workers were sweet and friendly, they checked on us the perfect amount of times and were very personable.

Highly recommend! We will definitely be coming back soon. We wanted to try to mango sticky rice but it wasn't in season yet, so we will return when it is! I definitely recommend giving them a shot.”

“My first time visiting Broneys, and they had a burger deal I couldn't pass up. Burger and fries were good, I'm relatively easy to please. I may try their chips or onion rings next time, it is nice to have options. The burger was way better than any fast food place. I was there at quiet time, I admittedly go uptown more when school is not in session.”

The food (especially the pizza) is amazing and their servers and bartenders are so attentive and nice! They don't serve martinis or old fashioneds because it's more of a craft beer place with basic drinks, but their sister bar next door has more high end items and we're looking forward to trying it soon!”

“Front Room is usually alright. Drinks are mostly made right however, LOTS of ice and little product. Pricier than regular Starbucks. Service varies. You either get somebody super nice or someone who looks like they wanna crash out. Despite that, Front Room excels with its lighting and decor. Dim lighting is great on eyes and very aesthetically pleasing. Good central location and decent beverages but note the ice amount.”

“The new manager is a great wonderful person. She has really turn the store around within the week, she has been there. The store is neat, and clean. I was talking to her about how I went in there about a month back and the old manager were telling me how they were doing away with the herbs and cheese bread. And found out the old manager was lying about it going away. The other girl working Desirae was a wonderful person also. She only been there 4 days tops and she had the great of attitude like the new manager. Truly will be going to this subway every time now.

“Taco John’s has become one of my favorite spots for a quick and satisfying meal, and it’s all thanks to their consistently delicious tacos and those irresistible Potato Olés. Every visit leaves me full, happy, and already planning my next trip.

The tacos here are absolutely spot-on. The shells are always fresh and perfectly crisp, giving that satisfying crunch with every bite. The seasoned beef is flavorful and juicy, and the toppings—shredded lettuce, cheese, and just the right amount of sauce—are always fresh and generously portioned. They have a great variety too, from classic hard and soft tacos to their specialty tacos that are full of bold flavor. You can tell they take care to make sure each taco is made right.

But let’s be honest—the real MVP might just be the Potato Olés. These crispy, golden rounds are the perfect mix of crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside, with seasoning that’s downright addictive. They’re great on their own, but when you pair them with one of Taco John’s dipping sauces (especially the nacho cheese or sour cream), they’re on another level. I’ve honestly gone there just for Potato Olés more than once, and I have no regrets.

The staff is always friendly and efficient, making sure orders come out quickly and accurately, even during busy times. The restaurant is clean and comfortable, and the atmosphere is casual and welcoming. Prices are fair for the quality and portions you get, and I appreciate that I can enjoy a tasty meal without spending a lot.

The kitchen workers just stared at us and did not notify anyone we were waiting One kitchen employee would walk out to watch baseball that was playing on the TV.. The menu was crappy with little to choose from. The floor was sticky as well. We did not get any utensils sauces or crackers with our order. Nobody came to ask if we wanted refills or to even see how our meal was. I would not have left a tip if I paid at the end of our visit.”

“yes I recommend burger king. but have seen things when I worked there. let me explain...... I see everyday where they are hiring. I put in an application here and because I did what I felt to be the right thing they won't hire me. This is what happened.. years ago I worked there. One of the workers took her little kids to work with her and let them go in the back where the fryers are. The kids were maybe 6-7 yrs old. I went to management about kids being around the fryers and being allowed to make sandwiches for the customers. Nothing was done about it. So I walked out. Was I wrong. Should little kids of 6-7 be allowed to be in the back around the fryers and should kids of 6-7 be allowed to make sandwiches for customers. I want to work. I have about 15 yrs experience with burger king. But they won't hire me. Because I left. It was a very bad situation and I wanted no part of those kids getting burned or worse by hot grease in the fryers.”

The only thing I don't like is that they don't have sandwich bread so they use two Texas toast slices which doesn't taste great. It's also a bit annoying that there's no inside dining, but it makes up for that because they really do have great food.”

We visited the CI twice while in town. Drank many beers and played many games of pool. A very welcoming local bar with great bartenders and great drink choices at great prices.

The ONLY issue was that the men's bathroom was in AWFUL shape both days that we visited. VERY dirty and stunk to high heaven... as if it hadn't been cleaned in months. It's summer break and there were no students around either time we were there... really just the seven of us... so no reason for it to be that nasty.

We will be repeat customers.”
