“Myself Nancy & Daughter Katie and 3 amazing friends went on the wine tour August 2024 . We had the most amazingly fun , way too much laughing and fun Definitely the most memorable Wine tour . ( And yes bought 13 bottles + 1 more because can’t get “13” lol . You MUST go for the wine tour & they have so much more to offer Will be back there next summer 2025 .here are a few of our pictures.”

“We had dinner here last night a chicken supreme pizza , the pizza cookie and the garlic bread pizza . We drive 35 ish minutes for the pizza it is so well worth it , fresh yummy ingredients and amazing staff . Always worth the stop !”

“I do a yearly butter tart tour with a friend and we're always looking for new places to stop. Don't let appearances deceive you! It looks like your old school roadside general store but inside are the most delicious butter tarts!”

“Food has gone downhill from previous years. Chicken balls are terrible. I don't normally order chicken balls. I honestly prefer just about anything else, but their prices have soared. You need a second mortgage to afford anything else!”

“We were there for two family dinners (about ten people per occasion). The most popular dinner on night one was "Halibut and Chips" (followed closely by "Fish and Chips"). There are other dishes on the menu (e.g. Souvlaki, Butter Chicken or Bison Meatloaf). Positive reviews all 'round. On night two, we all had "Pickerel and Chips" which was truly fine, especially when accompanied by the generous and tasty salad. Service was efficient (especially for a large group) and very up-tempo. The menu (posted on the Facebook page) gives you a true sense of the options. A relaxing dinner in cottage country.”

“We were more than pleased at the resturant today Monday Aug 5…we sat on the deck facing the lift lock and had a tremendous lunch…we took out friend Nancy for her Birthday today and we’re served by Valeri an amazing host and server…very pleasant and warm….made you feel comfortable…highly recommend Mainstreet Bar and grill…”

“Another enjoyable and entertaining evening at the Globus Theatre. We were warmly welcomed and seated. The three course meal was delicious as always, served by attentive waitstaff. This play will have you laughing and, at times, feeling touches of an emotional family situation. Well done. Congratulations.”

“Their menu has a great variety. The pricing seems a bit higher than average, until you receive your order and realize the portions are massive. I tried the Dill Pickle Burger and it was epic!!! “Lovely spot we discovered. Despite being 6:30 and technically closed we were welcomed. Fantastic corn, excellent garlic, spectacular banana bread and raspberry pie that was amazing.”

“We are big fans! Love the patio in the summer and the English Pub atmosphere inside. We often go in for Senior breakfast which is very reasonable price for smaller appetites. I would have given 5 stars except we have found it occasionally inconsistent with the quality of some of the food. The last 2 times we were in, the ham with breakfast was like dry leather. I am not one to complain so I ate most of it regardless. I won’t order the ham with breakfast again. Also, they don’t know how to make a cup of tea which is amusing for an English pub! My friend and I ordered tea and it came with lukewarm water. The water for tea has to be boiled not drawn from a hot water dispenser for coffee. Terrible cup of tea, undrinkable. Stopped ordering tea with breakfast. Unfortunately I don’t drink coffee or I would go to that. I am hoping that the management and/or staff read this so that they can correct these issues. Otherwise love going here and enjoy the chicken wings, salads, delicious sandwiches and fries.”

“During non-Covid times, loved eating there. So busy. Tonight's take-out Halibut & Chips were far from good. The halibut was not fresh and had a spoiled taste. So disappointing. Will wait til they are open and food is fresher.”

“The Lakefield Subway is usually my first option for a to go lunch, during work. The sub masters behind the counter are always really kind and I’ve seen them take a lot from customers. I get the same sub every time and it’s always delicious. The cookies are soft and my favourite part of my meal, besides the friendly workers. Love this Subway.

Kid-friendliness: The atmosphere is a good spot to take children. Lots of seating and I think they have booster seats (could be wrong, I’ll check next time I go). Lots of extra napkins available and the washroom is accommodating.”

“Beautiful family run place that has been in Lakefield for 25+ years. The locals love it and definitely do not care if the cottagers don’t. I would t recommend ordering from here if your friends and family consider you to be “uppity”. Sandra is a SAINT.”

“Absolutely impressed with the staff on Saturday Sept 14, 2024 around 730pm. Not only were they friendly, they carried themselves respectfully and the young man at the window was kind!

I haven’t received great service like this in some time…. We did not enter the restaurant but earlier we left a McDonald’s in Bancroft because of how disgustingly dirty it was
This restaurant although we didn’t go inside, but the windows looked well maintained, and from what I could see inside the drive through window it was clean.

The sauce on the Big Macs and arch was way too mustardy - unsure if there was a mistake made there, but it did affect my food slightly. Although, I was too hungry to care

Anyway, would go back to this location!”
