“The Barn - Exeter
A hidden gem in a Barn on a golf club.

Date of visit: Sunday, Aug 4th, 2024
Driving home from a daytrip to Goderich we were looking for somewhere unique to stop for dinner. Unfortunately, we were having trouble once we left Goderich.
as we got near Exeter, our options seemed to be limited to big chains, which we never choose unless desperate. On google maps, there was this spot labelled “The Barn restaurant and Pub” but i was not finding much more than that.
It was listed as open - which is more than most restaurants in the area (Other than the chains), so we thought we would at least check it out.
As we drove down the street - it was just farms and fields - we were not feeling good about the accuracy of this pin on Google Maps. As we pulled up we came to a literal barn-looking structure. It definitely did not look like a pub, or a restaurant from our vantage point.
I went in to scout the place out before we committed. I looked at the Menu, and it seemed good, and the server was very friendly and understanding about my confusion.
So, we decided to take a chance on this unexpected spot.

The restaurant is large, spacious, and open. When we arrived, there were only a couple of other customers/tables on the huge patio.

We sat on the patio which was covered and overlooked a lovely garden and small golf course.
Our server (same as earlier) was very friendly and attentive.
We ordered a brisket sandwich, brisket quesadillas, and a big barn belly burger.

The food was delicious. the burgers were freshly made, juicy, delicious, and stacked with all kinds of toppings like bacon, caramelised onions, cheese, and pickles, and topped with a stuffed pickle wrapped in bacon. The Brisket sandwich was full of flavour and tasty, as was the quesadilla.

we upgraded our fries to their specialty fries - I had the taco - which is a meal unto itself - but amazing.

This hidden little gem is located just south of Exeter, and is well worth the drive.
They are only open seasonally - spring to Fall, and the restaurant is a literal barn - so there is no insulation. in the summer it can be hot, and in the edge season - it could be cool.
The service was very good - she was vvery nice and friendly.
Prices are very reasonable as well - all
There is plenty of parking.
The restaurant is a popular destination for weddings.“
