“So, I’m not from around here. Was in town for a concert but was staying at a motel just outside Simcoe. I’d gone here for a bite to eat and some drinks before the show and headed back down afterwards. They had some live music going, I believe his name was Shane. He played some great tunes. The bartender, Justine, was super friendly. Had some laughs with some locals who came in later on. It was time for me to take off when I asked Justine if she could call me a taxi. She kind of laughed and said “I’ll try…” I guess taxis aren’t very reliable around here. Anyways, she reached out to a friend of hers and he came and gave me a lift back to my motel. Very thankful for this, as it would have been a long cold walk. That level of service is not very common. Thank you!”

“Food was good and reasonable prices. Service was terrible with attitude. We were seated and no waitress for 10-15 mins. Their phone number was posted on the window….so I proceeded to order over the phone. While doing so, a waitress appeared..said nobody told her she had a table to serve. She was not friendly at all. Probably won’t return there…The Beachhouse for me from now on. We won’t try any new restaurants in dover any more.”

“The wings were big and saucy more like a restaurant rather than a chain. Much better wings than the nearby chain pizza places. Pizza was typical, fresh toppings, buttery crust. I wish they wouldn't cut a pizza into 16 skinny slices.”

“Today I ventured into Port Dover to satisfy my craving for some fish and chips. Located on the corner of Main St and Nelson St is Murphy's Chip Wagon(501 Main St Port Dover). Today I kept it simple. I got the fish & chips but had my fries upgraded to a poutine. This fish (basa a fresh white fish mild in flavour)is so light and flaky inside with a perfectly cooked crispy golden brown batter on the outside(chefs kiss). Locally sourced potatoes from a farm just outside of Simcoe (can't get any fresher then that). hand cut and cooked right on site. Topped with a generous amount of shredded cheese and enough gravy that every fry was coated.
The coleslaw might as well be called cabbage salad. They keep it simple, they shred the cabbage right on site and make their slaw sauce from scratch. The simple ingredients make this coleslaw a perfect complement to the whole dish.
The house made tartar sauce is a winner. My next visit I'm going to get 4 containers. While 1 is enough for the dish. I now want my fish wo wear a tartar sauce blanket. I licked the container clean.

Get one of everything that catches your eye. Life is short, eat the dessert first! And the treats travel well!! Brad and Mel go way above and beyond to ensure you get the best of everything.
